WoW Moviewatch: I'm Still Sleeping

I'm Only Sleeping, a WoW/Beatles music video from Phixor2000, is not only is the winner of the GEE Machinima Award from the 2007 BitFilm Festival but is a video that surprisingly does the Beatles' I'm Still Sleeping justice, with a psychedelic vibe, semi-NSFW, sort-of-naked gnomes, and butterflies. I'm a huge Beatles fan, and personally love the crazy, creepy Beatles stuff from the late '60s, like the Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine. Also, I hold the controversial opinion that Octopus's Garden is not a terrible song, so hate me in the comments. You can't change my mind. It's not the best song, but Ringo tried really hard! And it's catchy.
Oh, right, the video. Phixor2000 captures the essence of the psychedelic period of the Beatles pretty damn perfectly with his Frozo-esque gnome experiencing Azeroth and beyond in ways we only wish were possible: frolicking gnomes, a metaphysical meeting with Aszhara and even Shivarra-inspired shenanigans. It's weird, and that makes it fun. Also, who doesn't want to start the day with some Beatles?

The skit at the end was by Statler and Waldorf from the muppet show I believe, at least the words were, may have been an impression of them.

Olibith (the video-maker) puts that sound clip at the end of all his videos, or atleast the latest ones, but it's a great one still. ;)
Awesome video, loved the shivarra-thingie but the naked gnomes running was one of the creepiest thing I've ver seen! :O

Also, I agree, I also like Octopus' Garden, and it is catchy! People are so mean to poor Ringo.
Anywho, I really liked this, I'm only sleeping is a great song, and this parody did well by it.

And, completely off topic: how do I change my profile pic? I read http://www.wow.com/2007/12/01/new-icons-for-commenters/ but when I'm logged in after making a post, the button "Edit picture" doesn't do anything, in firefox / IE / Chrome / Safari. Is it me or is it bugged?

It doesn't do anything for me either. I can't click "Edit Photo" or "Edit Profile" ... nothing comes up. At least I know it's not just me. I also have no idea why my name is grey when everyone else's is blue XD

The Beatles AND gnomes? It's like Phixor made this one just for me.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would love to see more machinima like it, using good music, instead of whatever horrid rhythmic thing crawls out of the local hip-hop station.
The whelpling flying out the window and off into the psychedelia was a great visual, really capturing the essence of dreaming. And drugs. Also, I laughed out loud at the main character frolicking in a field with gnaked gnomesses.

I've seen this before and loved it. Octopus's Garden has been my favorite song since I was 2 and 16 years later its still my fav. With cata coming soon and a gnomish submarine in Vashj'ir, imma assume at somepoint theres going to be a Yellow Submarine spoof. "We all live in a gnomish submarine, a gnomish submarine, a gnomish submarine..."... yea that'll most likly happen. hopefully Olibith makes it so that way its good.

This was very... trippy. You can't go wrong with this kind of creativity and a Beatles tune. :)

... however, "I'm Only Sleeping" is not a late 60s song. It's a mid-60s song. That's just how far ahead of the game The Beatles were :)

I always liked Octopus' Garden, I listened to it as a kid so it just seems like a happy fun nonsense song to me. Plus I've drawn a few interpretations of it that were really cute. :3
Not a bad video, though I always have trouble watching WoW videos that aren't highly edited due to WoW's now-crappy graphics, especially when they use the talking animation to actually talk. Could have used some different screen wipes also I think, other than just a circle every time, but a lot of the combinations of stuff (like the gnome with the helmet in the bubble thing from SSC) were clever.
