What's the best way to show support of the podcaset?
I've been downloading the mp3 from here. Do you get some sort of +1 Ratings from that? Should I load up iTunes and look for some sort of "Like" button (not to mention try to find where they put podcasts)?
Or is sending an e-mail that says: "OMG! Podcast is teh awesomezors!one!" enough? I'd send it to Liz, too, but she's not there anymore. :'(

Gotta disagree with the comment about not leveling your alts right now.
Will there be plenty of incentive to level new toons in Cataclysm? Definitely. Are there benefits to waiting? Sure... Guild experience, at the very least. But if you want to level your alts now, level them now. Training professions, going after obscure achievements and the like aren't everyone's cup of tea--so if playing your alts is the fun right, do *that*.
Another thing to consider: There will be a whole new leveling experience and starting zones in Cataclysm, sure... But that means this is your last chance to get the "vanilla" WoW leveling experience. If you've never leveled a gnome or a dwarf, now's the time to do it. If you're an Alliance player and you've never leveled a Horde toon pre-Hellscream, now's the time. If you want to experience the Cataclysm leveling experience too--well, good news. You can have up to 50 toons on your account, so there's nothing stopping you from doing both.
But ultimately what matters is what's fun. Do what's fun for you.

I keep hearing about this Engineering Song, and I want to hear it! Where can I listen to it? I tried googling for it, but no luck - can anyone help? :(

I agree with the "don't level your all right now". The levelling is so much more fun in Cataclysm, I'm actually kinda pissed I will only be able to level 2 characters in the new old content.
But, to add something - Don't level alts... IF they are lower than lvl 58.
DO LEVEL your alts from 58-80 cause nothing will change for them in Catalcysm till they reach 80 where they'll be able to level to 85 then. Unfortunately all mine are 80 already and seeing what quest rewards you will get in Catalcysm I can't find it in me to actually raid with any of them so I'm boooored right now.

can you make some podcasts that don't contain cata spoilers in them? I love hearing these but I haven't been able to listen to them in weeks for fear of being spoiled. I know cataclysm is the hot topic right now, but would it be possible to talk about it without giving away specific details?

Totally disagree.
nekorion Sep 6th 2010 2:04AM

timsell Sep 2nd 2010 4:45PM
Will you please for the love of all that is holy sing the engineering song - I need it.
Not want - NEED!

I hate, HATE, HATE! the Southern Barrens changes. I really think it's dumb that we attacked Taurens. This kind of lame propping up of the conflict is offensive, as was said in the episode.
Yes, they are amping up the conflict but this is so pointless and forces. This is the kind of stuff in the story that frustrates the heck out of me. The last thing we needed was to make the one horde race that is utterly honourable, our enemy.
Did I mention I hate it? X-p
I also agree with the frustration about Worgen playing their own story. That makes me crazy because, say what you will about it forcing you to play the other side, I won't do it. I refuse to play Forsaken and I don't see why THEY get to tell my race's story.
Let's face it, the powers that be at Blizz do have more heart for the horde and that's why I think this happens. I'm not saying anything about play balance, but story balance - absolutely. I do hold out hope that the Worgen leveling experience is going to change and develope a LOT more.
KK my QQ fest is over. :D I had to get it out of my system. It was a GREAT show and it's always such a blast when Anne is on the show.

Bringing up the Worgen Paladin thing.
I'm FAR more bothered by Worgen Druids actually.
I'm fine with WORGEN Druids, in the starting zone they connect with the Night Elf Druids etc. and it sorta works.
But according to the starting zone there were Gilneans who were HUMAN Druids BEFORE the whole curse thing happened. How does that work? I might have to play through the starting area again but I don't remember that being adressed anytime.
Fletcher Sep 2nd 2010 10:42PM
From what I've heard (not having played the Beta) the worgen druids, before becoming worgen druids, were essentially the remnants of a pagan cult existing alongside the Church of the Light. Once the night elves arrived, they taught the human nature magic users the tricks of night elf nature magic users.
nonentity Sep 3rd 2010 1:24AM
That might work, a few Humans picking up stuff from the NElf Druids before they lost themselves completely to the Pack, but again, the problem is the number of practitioners.
I think Blizzard has even said that there are things like Tauren Warlocks, Orc Priests etc. but they are the exception, they are the odd one out, they represent maybe 0.1% of the population. They are not "traditional" classes for this race so it's not a playable class. Yet they tell us there were enough people practicing this that it makes sense to have it be playable.
It took years of intermingling with the other races to introduce non-traditional classes for a race like the Orc Mage, Tauren Paladin, Human Hunter etc. That can easily be explained in the lore by a few people picking this up from their allies, then maybe train others in it etc. Makes sense in an alliance over the course of a few years.
Nothing like this happened with the Human Druids though
I get it that they wanted to have Worgen Druids (which, let's be honest, will probably be the next Blood Elf Paladin) and I would have been fine with it if they had done something like let the Gilnean/Worgen player "unlock" the Druid class (while selecting it character creation first) when they turned into a Worgen ( a sort of affinity or something) or when they finally made contact with the Night Elf Druids.
My problem is with the part of the starting zone/lore where Human Druids run around like it's the most natural thing in the world.
This bugs me a lot, really gonna start another Worgen to check this again, when they re-introduce female Worgen at the latest.

Regarding alts - I'm purposefully levelling my draenei shaman pre-Cataclysm, because he's going to be a dwarf. I want a pair of tankards from Brewfest, I want Greed and Pride. And nobody's going to be running Wrath heroics once Cataclysm comes out!
Regarding Southern Barrens - yeah, we attacked the Tauren. Yeah, the Tauren are nice. But Camp Taurajo was sitting right on a major strategic bottleneck, and if we wanted to open up a front in Eastern Kalimdor, we needed to take that place.
Regarding Ashenvale - even before Cataclysm I was conflicted on whether driving the Horde back past the Southfury River would be sufficient, or whether it was necessary to exterminate the Orcs from Kalimdor entirely. As a Night Elf, I think that the Warsong Clan needs to commit mass suicide while begging forgiveness until they start coughing blood. As a *start*. There can be no peace with the murderers of Cenarius.
Regarding the Worgen experience - Worgen should *absolutely* be levelling in Silverpine. Since hearing that the Worgen were Gilneans I expected Pyrewood Village to be a Worgen quest hub. I want to be able to level my Worgen from Gilneas to Silverpine to Hillsbrad to Arathi to the Hinterlands to the Plaguelands. It makes no sense that I can't.
Regarding Arathi Highlands - it really annoys me that they've essentially said "meh, screw it" and abandoned the place. Arathi Highlands has potential story all over. Helping the Arathi retake Stromgarde would be awesome. The Alliance should smash into that place like a hammer. We should Wreck Shit Up. There's also elementals being all angry *already* in live - why not say "Yeah, you never actually defeated Myzrael, and now she's climbed out of the ground and is smashing things"? Also, there are Amani trolls there. The best kind of trolls! They should be doing something totally insane and insanely dangerous to try to wipe out everybody else, summoning an Old God or something! Have them go totally *berserk*, the Amani are *good* at berserk! The original troll berserkers *were Amani*!
Regarding "Not every Forsaken necessarily agrees with Sylvanas Windrunner" - that may be so. But from the standpoint of questing (in live, at least - I'm not in the Beta) *every Forsaken NPC* DOES agree with Sylvanas Windrunner! If Westfall is full of humans who *don't* agree with Varian Wrynn - where are the Forsaken who disagree with the Dark Lady, since they supposedly exist?
And I know exactly what class/race combo is missing from the Alliance. I made a thread about it on the Blizzard forums, but that place is full of trolls like maggots in shit (although that may be insulting to maggots). It's gnome hunters. In Cataclysm, gnomes will be the *only* race who *can't* be hunters. Gnomes will have one less class than the average. And it's not like gnomes are missing snipers, or marksmen, or scouts! Yet the responses I get when I raise this point are things like "Gnomes would get trodden on by their pets" "Gnome pets would have the gnomes for a snack" "Pets don't respect squeaky toys" "Gnomes are such hideous abominations against nature that animals flee from them in terror"! I want a tiny, adorable gnome with a great big gun and an even bigger bear. It irritates me that Blizzard hasn't allowed gnomes to be hunters, when they've introduced things like Dwarf warlocks and Tauren paladins - and it makes me *very annoyed* when the only responses I get are "Trololololol".

Be certain not to get too much gold on this draenei though.
I levelled a Dwarf Hunter (love me some Dwarf even though I'm Horde, my favorite Alliance race) a while back because I wanted to play a Hunter NOW not with Cataclysm, but even then I knew I would eventually faction-change it to a Goblin.
When I did the Insane Achievement I sold quite some stuff (Darkmoon cards etc.) on the Alliance AH so now he has ~30k gold.
But at Lvl 80 there is a 20k gold limit to transfer characters. Which is retarted, thank you very much. I don't have any other Alliance characters right now so I CAN'T faction-change my character. Awesome.
Yes, I tried investing 10k in items to take it with me this way but not possible without losing a ton of money (ie. Primordial Saronie selling for ~600g on Alliance side, for ~400 on Horde).
(considered changing him now because I desperately want to play a hunter on Horde side now to play with my friends and not gonna level up another when I already have one at 80)

That was Harry Truman, not Herbert Hoover.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) Sep 3rd 2010 5:14AM
Yes, and it was a poor analogy. How did you guys not know this?!? O_o? I turned it off in disgust at this point btw...
Mathew Sep 3rd 2010 8:37AM
Yeah, I realized I said Hoover ten seconds after I said it and would hope no one would notice. But I noticed. And it has haunted me for days.
