Breakfast Topic: Does the outfit make the man?

As I walk into the room, I take a look around and I feel out of place. Here I am, standing there with my weapon dripping what looks to be blood and my shoulders trying to bite people who walk by me, while the others in the room are calmly cutting Crystalsong carrots and tenderizing rhino meat. I slide into my cooking set, and I feel much more welcome and much less imposing. With my Salma's Oven Mitts, Cookie's Tenderizer and my spiffy Chef's Hat, I feel like I can step up alongside Katherine Lee and cook to my heart's content.
When the time calls, what equipment sets do you put on? When you go to Ironforge, do you slap on your Blue Brewfest Hat and chug until you pass out? Are you the type to put down a D.I.S.C.O. ball, equip some Blue Suede Shoes and act like you are John Travolta?

I always carry my Fire Festival garb when I'm on my Tauren. She looks stunning in flames and the dress actually fits nicely on the Tauren females, unlike most of the other dresses which accentuate our back/tail hair. Plus, dancing in flames, super fun!

/agreed
Accentuating back hair = bad.

I usually put on my full Demon Hunter gear! Shirtless in Silvermoon can be hilarity

"Shirtless in Silvermoon" sounds like the next A Stormy Romance Novel.

I don't really wear something new or tie clothing to a specific location, mainly because I don't have the vast wardrobe you seem to have, but I always find it fun to run around in a seasonal outfit, usually the Midsummer garbs and just dance around in Dalaran or in the Ironforge forge.

I enjoy stripping down to my skivvies when I go into the water to ride around on my turtle. Also I enjoy doing old world dungeons and raids in my pirate outfit and shouting things like Avast! and Arrrggg! and I have a mount for just about every occasion.

I equip my Orc with a dress and my Sceptre of Celebras and do a convincing Orc Mage impression ahead of Cataclysm...
Other than that my raidtime outfit is my patented 'Naked Totem Disco' set. One loincloth, four totems, all fun.

About the only time I change outfits is when I do the fishing daily. I don my weather-beaten fishing hat, my winter boots and a loin cloth; then I grab my Jeweled Fishing Pole and CAST.
However, since I'm fervently fishing for that turtle, I generally keep all my gear on to save bag space for all those sculpins I'm catching.

Second that randy 930 sculpin and no turtle yet...need that space

(OT: Frozen Sea, Borean Tundra has the highest concentration of fishing nodes. Got mine there, DON'T GIVE UP!)
As someone who plays on an RP server, my character has quite a few different sets in the outfit manager. He's a gnomish doctor but plays it casual with a Master's Hat and Seer's Padded armour for that intellectual feel.

Sculpins eh? Didn't realize that was the place to go. I caught mine on my Rogue while fishing pools of Dragonfin.

I have a bunch of different outfits, mostly from the holidays, for whenever I'm in town. My alt desperately wants the Robes of the Guardian Saint, but it's not easy trying to find 39 other people who'll help you farm for a dress.
bui Sep 3rd 2010 8:43AM
So ummm just gonna mention that you need like 5 people to do AQ40, and to do it with no challenge whatsoever you need something like 15. Just as a heads up.
Zayaxa Sep 3rd 2010 10:26AM
That would make things somewhat easier, bui. One I forgot, since she's on a different server, but I have a draenei whose main outfit is the Swashbuckler's shirt and Sentinel trousers. I have a couple in various places who have the tux (jacket, pants, dress shoes) with or without the shirt under the jacket. As for myself, I mentioned the holiday outfits, but I forgot to add that I always wear a nice pair of glasses (okay, goggles) to top off any ensemble.

For "formal" occasions my Paladin dons her Lawbringer armor set. It makes quite an impression. She rides her regular Paladin Charger. Her Argent charger is for up in Northrend, along with her "Northrend working gear". Guess that'll change when she is "reassigned" in Cat.
Both my Paladin and Warlock don their cooking hats when they cook at the inn.

I dont really care about 'dressing up' but when in Dalaran or perhaps a raid during down times, I'll equip my most rare items - some of which I've discovered I can sort of combine.
Super Simian Sphere.
Or the more common Orb of Deception.
Perhaps the Mojo vanity pet frog transformation.
And then I can combine each of them with a certain Tabard of the Lightbringer which I was fortunate enough to aquire lately :)
So maybe this means I DO like dressing up in WoW but for me, it doesnt have to fit the enviroment like the author seems to feel, and it's all about the visual effect and rarity!
Writing this post has just given me a brain flash to try combining Super Simian Sphere with the Tabard and then /kiss Mojo! A glowing, light infused frog in a bubble?!

I have a couple outfits that I throw on just for fun. First is my SW guard set, I love throwing that on with my "of Stormwind" title and following the guards around. Second is my Royal Apothecary set, I got the Vile Fumigator's mask during the Love is in the Air boss and walking around blasting critters with the "on use" effect. It always surprises people to see a giant stream of purple liquid dousing a rat and stunning it. ;)
Rockstaert Sep 3rd 2010 9:17AM
Same here for the SW guard set, of course combined with Grand Marshal's Aegis and Grand Marshal's Greatsword (Titan Grip needed for this combination). Looks amazing :-)
Swifteye Sep 3rd 2010 10:29AM
I love pretending to be a Stormwind Guardm too. Toss up PvP flag (so your name is green like theirs, rather than blue), toggle on /walk, meander around the city and see how many people you can fool into trying to ask you for directions. Never gets old, hehe.

Ah, I've been trying to get a cooking set together. I forgot about Salma's mitts, I probably threw those away a long time ago.
However, Shadowfang Keep is great for that stuff. Grab the Butcher's Slicer and/or Cleaver and the Bloody Apron and you're all set. Shame my paladin can't dual-wield, I'm not sure there's an appropriate cooking shield.
