In my experience, reputation matters significantly in the long run and pays dividends if you take good care of it. I run a guild on Moon Guard with similar standards as you sound like you use - I expect people to be grown ups and behave civilly to others at all time (even when the others in question may not deserve it). I think maintaining a high standard for members pays off in the long run - it may mean you're a bit smaller than some guilds, or it takes longer to recruit. But on the other hand, I think people notice - I know in our case, the reputation we've developed server-wide is pretty positive, and I honestly think the care we take of making sure our members act like class acts has a lot to do with it. I'd expect the OP's guild shares a similar reputation on Llane, as well as other guilds that do put in the extra effort. So yes, I absolutely think it's worth it.
