Operation Gnomeregan and Zalazane's Fall events now available

To start the Echo Isles quests, you want to talk to Vanira, who is right next to Voljin in the Sen'jin village in Durotar.
To start the Operation Gnomeregan quests, you want to talk to High Tinker Mekkatorque, who is located in the Tinker Town district of Ironforge.

Re-post, since previous one 'bugged'(?): How long will this event last? Is this event going to be aviable for players until Cataclysm, or will it be removed soon? because my account expired few days ago and won't be able to purchase a new pre-paid card for at least a couple weeks Q_Q

I would also *like* to know (I want the cloak and achievement for an alt who's not 75 yet) but I'm pretty sure no one other than Blizz can answer this.

*Sigh* I did this on my rogue earlier in the day and no problems. Now I'm doing it on my hunter and the quest to show the speeches is broken. There's a crowd of maybe 30 of us around Tog Whatever and it won't let us use the Gnomish Playback Device.
Maybe this is why the Gnomes lost Gnomeregan in the first place...their engineering is flawed.

Same here - both Milli and Tog are borked on Malfurion. Speeches do not work.
awall Sep 7th 2010 9:35PM
Same on Dark Iron.
Maribel Sep 7th 2010 11:07PM
From the sound of things, Blackwater Raiders has the same problem, though I finished that part before it borked.

My wife started telling me about it as soon as I got home today. She was totally excited for the world event and had already done it on 3 characters.

Yep done both sides in under an hour. Pretty cool.. I think the Gnomer one was better actually (coming from a mainly horde player)
Pitty it was so short and nothing to it. Oh and they cheated us on the real reward (crappy white cloak)
Oh well. I hope the Doomsday event takes a little longer and is a bit more interesting.

What I liked (Alliance side--no Horde characters of consequence):
- The dialog. It was the best part--especially at the end. It had me rolling.
- The fact that the questgivers at Steelgrill Depot weren't flagged PVP. There were Horde griefers all over the place and they couldn't do a damned thing. It was great.
- I did it just as the server came up so aside from a guildie, there was no one else around.
What I didn't like:
- It was short. I did it in around 15-20 minutes.
- Horde killing Mekkatorque in Ironforge to stop people from starting the quest chain. Why do they have to do that*?
- I died at one point. 90k AOE crits really grab a lot of attention.

"Horde killing Mekkatorque in Ironforge to stop people from starting the quest chain. Why do they have to do that*? "
Must be all those levelheaded and mature Horde players some people keep going on about here...

Believe me, I play both Horde and Alliance (mainly Horde) and there are just as many boneheads on the Horde side as there are Alliance.
I think the main difference is that the Ally boneheads tend to have a favorite all-purpose hangout to be retards: Goldshire. And since many new Allies start as humans in Elwynn, that particular disease is probably more infectious on the Ally side. If Goldshire had been put on the hit list for Cataclysm, I wouldn't have been sorry to see it go.
... That being said though I completed Zalazane's Fall and the Horde players were cool. Gnomeregan? Talk about a flurry of misbehaved potty-mouthed people who think they're a riot. Of course, maybe it's just that radiation emanating from GR.
Jeff (Not that one ^ ) Sep 8th 2010 2:11AM
Well, I play on Area 52 and the Horde:Alliance ration is about 15:1 at least. We don't have the opportunity to be douchebags, really. I'm sure if we did, we'd be horrible, but the Horde on our realm seem to be gratuitous about it. That's probably why I don't have any Horde characters.

On Tanaris we Horde-folk are vastly out numbered and the d-baggery is quite limited.
I did the Horde-side quest first with it's spiritual reveal of the Troll Druids and epic battle to recruit a Trollish guardian of the fallen spirits to assist Vol'Jin. And then the battle itself, with the awesome voice acting and intriguing cliff hanger ending "I be waitin' for ya Vol'Jin... On da other side..."
The 20 of us who were in the battle (that's a lot for prime time Tanaris-Horde) were pretty stoked.
So I then logged into my uber-priest that I deserted on the Alliance side to get away from the kids and got to learn how to /salute, /roar, and /dance, get ejected from three kinds of mechanical tank, got to yell at R-Tards who were parking traveler mammoths on all of the quest NPCs, experience the various broken parts of the quest chain due to the sheer number of people all trying to play the recording for some NPC at the same time, and then got to endure 20 minutes of squeaky Gnome voice for the final battle - which was also broken as the giant Trogg never showed up.
Overall, the Horde version of the event was about iLevel 264. I'd give the Alliance version a solid iLevel 200. :)

Had a great comment during one of our runs on day 1 - Mekkatorque yells out that it's a trap, and that it's a fully operational bomb - a paladin said "our [Divine Shield] can't repel radiation of that magnitude!" many Star Wars geek lols were had.
Also, we had 2 kinds of griefers for the Alliance side -
Horde swarming and attempting to kill the questgivers and folks you play the recordings to. (Big thanks to our PvP all-stars for coming out to protect the area for several hours on day 1)
But even worse were the Alliance d-bags mounting up on the biggest mammoths they could find and swarming to cover the questgivers, particularly Mekkatorque for the final assault. And they didn't even do the quest. Just sat in his spawn spot. Much baby spice was used.

The gnomes are revolting!
And rebelling, as well!
Filip83 Sep 8th 2010 2:32AM
I have my Gnomeragan tabard ready for weeks! Can't wait ti finish work today and go home to do this!
Tucoramirez Sep 8th 2010 3:40AM
I come back to do this and the other pre Cat events and it is bugged. How did this not come out in testing? Oh well, at least if SWTOR is bugged, they will have the excuse of the game being new.
RavenJet Sep 8th 2010 4:44AM
It dropped for us on the EU servers this morning.
I actually put in a half-day's leave so I can go home at 12 and go reclaim gnomeregan.
I will also do as much as possible of the Zalazane event on my troll hunter.
Zahira Sep 8th 2010 4:52AM
I'm dissapointed that you don't get gnomer rep for this at all, but it was fun.
Kesely Sep 8th 2010 6:18AM
I ain't be getting dis talk about gnomes an' t'ings. Dis be *our* great day. Ngo... Gmoner... dat place be jus' anudda dungeon, but Echo Isles be our *home*, man!
