The Classifieds: Sing that Sindragosa to me
The Classifieds brings you weekly news from around the WoW community, including the famous Random Acts of Uberness shout-outs to players who makeWoW memorable.
I've seen nearly as many methods for maintaining a raid's morale as I have seen raids. Everyone does something a little different. I've even participated in "strip raiding" before. (I really try not to talk about it, you know? Let's just say that wipes affected more than just one's repair cost.) My point is that every raid tends to have its own version of the old carrot and stick.
Elexiari of <Kingship of the East> from Emerald Dream (US-A) tells us that her raid has a rather unique method of keeping spirits high. She says, "We take turns singing after every boss kill, and sometimes at random times for a morale boost." I agree that it's a pretty cool way to keep the guns blazing. Elexiari does say they're struggling with Sindragosa a bit. Our own Mathew McCurley says this group may need to ...
... change its tune. (He then put on sunglasses and drove into the sunlight.)
Random Acts of Uberness
Rhianlyn, Randal and DPSers (Whirlwind battlegroup) I just hit 80 yesterday on my priest and queued for my second-ever heroic as discipline. Imagine my panic when the loading screen revealed Forge of Souls! Fortunately, I had one of the best groups ever. We sailed through with spirits high and no deaths until I jinxed us at the Devourer of Souls and we wiped. But instead of getting upset, my groupmates remained confident and we defeated the Devourer with no further death! So I'd like to give a very big thank-you and hug to Rhianlyn, Randal, and the two other excellent DPS. Extra hugs to the mage for the strudel! -- Kalayun, Cenarion Circle (US-A)
Kaanar of Moonguard (US-A) I decided to level a new character on a brand new realm away from the support system of my 80s. After choosing a holy priest and grinding away, I finally used the dungeon finder. I was thrown in with a friendly heirloom geared shaman, Kaanar. After several marvelous runs, we finally had to part ways, but not before he asked me to hold tight in Darkshore where he hunted me down on his main. To my amazement, he gave me four Netherweave Bags and 100 gold as a "welcome to Moon Guard!" I have never been so surprised or humbled! Kaanar, you rock. -- Lasemistia, Moon Guard (US-A)

Roleplay and more <Battle Hymn> on Moon Guard (US-A) is looking for new members of all playstyles. We're a roleplaying guild originally and, after a hiatus, are now building up for Cataclysm, regearing into a social/RP/raiding type of environment. We're looking for roleplayers, raiders to build our roster and anyone who's looking for a casual play-how-you-want guild full of friendly, helpful and legitimately insane members.
Serious raiding <Inception> of Stormreaver (US-A) is a serious raiding guild looking for competent players who are willing to commit to three days of raiding a week and show up for all three days! We plan on moving into hardcore raiding in Cataclysm and need people who are ready for this kind of playstyle. We are mostly looking for DPS currently, but exceptions will be made for exceptional players. Talk to a member in game or check out our website and apply!

I'm afraid of Moonguard and the Goldshire Inn :p
Having a RAoU and a RP Recruitment there had my mind thinking horrible things :p
Perhaps I just need a nap.

is pretty interesting. I'll point out a few other similar guilds.
Dawnbringer H - we're founded by a few PhDs and are an adult only guild. We don't bring much science into the guild, but often times we founders are glad to discuss our passion and give advice on surviving grad school.

Earthen Ring H - this is a interesting guild made of social scientists, started via the Science magazine (which is a top 5 science journal, so big stuff). I'm not really sure what they do, but you can read all about it.

I've been thinking of rolling on an RP realm when i start playing again in cata. Living in australia and studying fulltime, i usually have random playing times. Hardcore casual is my preferred play style; theorycrafting, personal min/maxing and thorough analysis of boss mechanics/wipes is my version of fun. From what I understand, RP realms usually have these mature type players.

When raid's have gotten especially stressful, our raid lead has been known to tell everyone to pop a campfire and sit down. Then we talk through the raid mechanics. I still remember the first time he did it. After 10 rounds of koom-bai-ahhh-mah-lord, we settled down. It's funny how that silly act settled us down and got us focused and helped us remember why we love everyone in guild.

Anyone know of a guild like this on Darkspear? I've been looking for a social guild that I can be my "casual"-self in and wouldn't mind helping me get emblems as a relatively fresh 80. Not looking to do heavy raids, just want a fun environment.

When my guild first started in ICC, the raid leaders were big on announcing the Deathbound Wards' Disrupting Shout by hollering, "Shout!" over vent. Pretty quickly that became the cue for the rest of us to sing back, "Shout! Let it all out! These are the things I can do with out! Come on, I'm talking to you, come on!"
Well, except for one raider. She sang, "Throw my hands up, Shout! Kick my heels back, Shout! Throw my head back, Shout! Come on now, Shout!" Gotta love a generation gap. :P

Surely Kalayun couldn't have even got into forge of souls through the LFG system as it requires a minimum level of gear. And considering he/she only dinged the day previous and was there second ever heroic, i cant think of a way he/she could have the required gear.
Grumblecakes Sep 8th 2010 11:26PM
I'll admit it: I cheated a little bit. I got a Battered Hilt on my mage (who didn't need it), so as soon as I hit 80 I started working on that questline. And FoS was my second-ever heroic as discipline--I did a few as shadow and had the T9 gloves.
So it wasn't that I was ridiculously undergeared and shouldn't have been in there (although I still had and have some blues), I was just very unprepared.
angelus1121 Sep 9th 2010 1:32AM
Maybe between running the regular ICC 5 mans and crafted gear? That's the only way I can think of.

Dual core [A] on Aerie Peak is recruiting!
We are fun, casual but still know how to be serious and throw down some raids here and there! If you're just starting out, or looking for a new guild or server that takes thing easy and likes to raid and have fun, then maybe we are what you're looking for!
Most of us are adults, military or have families, so we know there are more important things out there besides the game and understand if not all raids can be attended. So, if you have an alt you like alot, or a lowbie, or a main needing a home, hit someone up in the guild and we will toss you an invite and help you level, gear, learn the game, and whatever else to help you enjoy your time in the world of warcraft!
We have ventrilo, a very large guild bank and a great community of people ready and willing to help!
People to contact: Aggronaut, Vochanka, Bambampow, Goldcaster, Roopaloop, Broseidon, and almost anyone who appears in a /who Dual Core (some may not be able to invite, but they can still help get ahold of us personally!)
Clockwork Sep 9th 2010 4:17AM
I'm confident I included this in my e-mail, but it seems to have been edited out.
Anyone interested in joining Battle Hymn should contact Aliran in-game via mail or whisper. That is all, thanks.
