The Guild season 4, episode 8
The Guild, the award-winning web series by Felicia Day, is still merrily chugging along with season 4. This season features all kinds of new problems for Codex and her cohorts in the Knights of Good. Season 4 has taken the focus a little further away (but not too far) from the game and moved it to Codex, who is still dealing with the disastrous fallout from the events at the end of season 3.
In the latest episode, "Busted," things are rapidly coming to a head as Codex tries to juggle her real-life, failing, fake relationship with her failing computer and her new job, as well as the return of Zaboo's mother -- which is creating all kinds of chaos. The gaming element is still present, of course, as the Knights of Good struggle to come up with the funds for a new guild hall, and the rakish guild leader of the Axis of Anarchy, Fawkes (played by Wil Wheaton), is stirring up all kinds of trouble in the name of mischief. Or is it in the name of something else? You can check out episode 8 above, and you can find any episodes you've missed and get caught up on The Guild's official series channel.
Looking for more on The Guild? We've previously interviewed Felicia Day at BlizzCon 2009, and Michele Boyd gave us an interview for 15 Minutes of Fame. And of course, the cast of The Guild was also kind enough to stop by our BlizzCon reader meetup and say hello to everyone.

I thought Adam said we weren't going to see these posts until after the Cataclysm info was done. :p So much for sticking to your guns.
(In the event that it was NOT Adam that stated this, please replace his name with the appropriate one :D )
In B4: Finally some The Guild News

I guess they finally caved after people kept whining about it.
If you love The Guild so much, you should be able to keep up with it your own damn self.
Natsumi Sep 8th 2010 10:17PM
Okay, perhaps I missed something, but I didn't find any of that funny. Well, except the part about Wesly Crusher being a man hoe, that was mildly amusing. I hear that guy is a jerk IRL.

Hopefully this will at least stop the conspiracy theories for why WoW.com doesn't cover The Guild despite the fact that WoW.com does cover The Guild, has always covered The Guild, they just don't announce every single new episode that comes along. /eyeroll

Will Wheaton? A jerk?
I hear quite the opposite. Not only does he enjoy poking fun at his former role on Star Trek: TNG (he thinks the writers hated him, and hated the lines they gave him) but is also into RPG and D&D.
Samutz Sep 8th 2010 10:31PM
I agree with Drak on this. As I said to one of the people complaining about there being no posts; It comes out every single week, and there's not much to write other than "there's a new episode". You can't write a whole article out of it.
But if they're starting up again...
There will be another new episode next week. I'm fairly good at predicting these things.
Natsumi Sep 8th 2010 11:12PM
@Drak
My insider info IS a little old, I think he was still ON the show when I received the info :p Perhaps he's changed since then?
Drakkenfyre Sep 8th 2010 11:33PM
Might be.
He was running a thing where he would make fun of an episode of TNG. He would go thru and point out all the stupid things they had him do. He described how they seemed to give him the stupidest lines, and understands why people hated him on the show.
He said he wanted better lines and better scenes, but they wouldn't give him any. Every time a new script would come in, he was like "WTF is this shit?". it wasn't that he wanted more scenes, but he wanted his scenes to make sense, and not always peg him as an irritating, underage Mary Sue.

"There'll be no living with her after this."

Predicting? Fairly? You guys are just trying to give Grovin an aneurysm now, aren't you?
Dreyja Sep 9th 2010 3:27AM
/dies laughing at (cutaia)... HE (and I mean that in the most MALE sense of it) knows why. :D

Humor is a subjective thing. I thought it was a pretty good episode. Although I think to get it, you'd have to first enjoy the series (which I do) and know about the characters. This episode wasn't very stand-alone at all.
As for Wheaton - he is so beyond being Wesly. Google for him and check out WWdN In Exile. He does some pretty cool stuff. One of my favorite meta-geek moments was when he used Geek techie site Slashdot's "Interview" with Shatner to simply ask "are we cool?"
http://interviews.slashdot.org/interviews/02/12/05/1444246.shtml
(If you Google around for "wheaton shatner 'are we cool'" you'll find a link to Google Books' reading of one of Wheaton's books that talks about that in a bit more detail)
This was more than a simple publicity stunt. Wheaton is a Linux fan and has commented on Slashdot articles before and after that particular opportunity to interject some meta-geek fanboyism / humor.

"Avinashi."
"I'll never remember that."
Ah Vork, awesome as ever.

Supportive'd.
Darky Sep 8th 2010 10:39PM
Maybe you guys could just list it in the Sunday Morning Funnies?
Natsumi Sep 8th 2010 11:12PM
Not a bad idea!

I am not reading the comments on purpose. How can I say this without sounding like a total MORON? I can't so I can accept this.
I had trouble finding the new episodes of The Guild. I went to the msn site, I tried a few things but... nothing worked like linking from wow.com.
I've not said anything to-date to avoid exposing myself for the moron that I am but... now that it's out there... I'm REALLY happy to see it on wow.com.
I accept and understand the reasons they stopped doing it. I'm just saying that this person of "limited intelligence" is grateful for the change. XD
Thanks guys. I'm catching up on the back episodes as we speak. /happy dance

Is your Google machine broken? Seriously, oh look, first hit...
http://www.watchtheguild.com/
There's even an RSS feed. I love The Guild, I'm just sayin' we shouldn't need wow.com to remind us that there's a new episode all the time.

As jbodar noted, The Guild has it's own website. Maybe it's a reflection of the current wave of "social media" and embeded linking - people not knowing how to actually find the source to information.
In any case, the MSN/Bing thing is absolutely horrible. I'm glad The Guild has got a sweetheart sponsorship deal going with Microsoft. But I hate the service. YouTube hosted videos require MUCH fewer hoops to jump through for the video (I heavily restrict script execution). And finding anything in that monstrosity is a royal pain. I always check watchtheguild.com for new episodes as I find it the only sane way to do so.
Dreyja Sep 9th 2010 2:09PM
Believe it or not you two, I did go to watchtheguild.com and couldn't find them by clicking. /shrug
I don't use RSS feeds, never have so that is an area I am particularly moronic. XD I'm not such a complete moron that I didn't try Google though so I guess I'm only MOSTLY, not entirely stupid.
Really guys, given I was trying to have a sense of ha-ha about it you could have laughed along y'know. ;-p
