Yes, I found the article somewhat odd too. I'm a Healbot guy myself, but it's the same concept: no targeting, 1 click healing, CDs and judgments by way of buttonmashing. I have no idea if it's optimal, but it has worked very well for me. And nearly all healers I know (not just other pallies) use a similar set up.
That Healium add-on looks kind of slick, but using something like Healbot where you can shift from one heal to the other just by way of using a different mouse button or keyboard modifier seems more efficient than moving the cursor between heal icons. Haven't tried it tho...
