I guess I'm used to far more competent healers. We never have an issue, from the progression kill till now.

I'm far from being the best healer in the world, but we've been killing heroic Sindragosa on 10's and 25's for six months. While we've experimented with the strategy you suggest, we ultimately concluded that the small damage gain from casters risking a few stacks of Unchained Magic just wasn't worth the additional healing load. If you explode in the raid -- as you almost certainly will at some point as Sindragosa begins an aerial phase, does the pull-in, or everyone has to LOS Mystic Buffet behind an ice block -- whatever damage you did to Sindy is nearly always outweighed by the backlash dumped on the raid, though obviously this is far more true of the heroic 25 version. If it's more than one caster, this is assured. If you *are* going to cast during Unchained Magic, you can probably get away with it during phase 1 (more so, I assume, with the 30% zone buff, although I haven't been able to raid for most of this summer), but we still don't think the damage is worth it. And by phase 3 the healing requirements are brutal. Assuming that half the heal team is out with UM at any given time (a safe assumption, in my experience) and one healer is ice-blocked (also a pretty safe assumption at some point in phase 3), you're asking two or three people at most to heal a tank eating 30-40K hits and 24 other people taking damage each second. To add unnecessary UM backlash to this isn't fair to your heal team and, I would argue, overvalues the DPS' potential contribution to the kill at the cost of your healers' sanity. In our view, it's far easier to trust the DPS to cast when they're not going to put an additional burden on the healers, trust your melee and ranged to watch their own stacks, and just focus on the raid's survival while you whittle Sindy's health down. If the raid is in such desperate need of damage that casters are being asked to risk 3 stacks of UM, it's be my opinion that either the raid isn't truly geared for the encounter, or something else is very wrong (and the healers are being expected to compensate for it). You really shouldn't need that damage at all, and the farther you get into the encounter, the more dangerous the backlash becomes. As an aside, it is not necessary to try insulting people to make a point. Please be polite, or we ask that you do not comment.

Along with Alison's comments, I also would query just how many of these 'competent' healers you're running with in any given attempt?Otherwise, completely agree with Alison. Yes, you /can/ get away with the odd Backlash, and during ph1 it's not even worth moving out if you just have one stack. But you should be keeping an eye out for the blistering CD if you are going to keep casting during it.Come time for Ph3 though, don't be a jackass. Unless of course your heal team is still sitting in the 7-9 mark for this fight due to their 'competence' (or more to the point by the sound of you, the lack of it on the rest of the raids part. Or perhaps just yours. *shrug*)
