The Queue: Titan's Midriff

Nice armor there, Qtbelf. Don't you know how much stomach wounds hurt? Clearly you've never seen Three Kings.
PS: I've learned my lesson about letting Fox do The Queue. Nobody posts questions! They just talk about Fox, Fox, Fox. Granted, half the comments are from Fox himself...
Swift asked:
How's Silithus shaping up in the Beta? I am rerolling a worgen mage to replace my current main and really want to get the "Guardian of Cenarius" title to fit into the "worgen getting rescued by the night elves" lore. I have farmed and bought hundreds of encrypted twilight texts and I pray the quest giver doesn't get blown up in the Cataclysm. Thanks!
Silithus is one of only two remaining zones that aren't ready for testing yet (the other is Winterspring), so honestly we have no idea what's going to be different there. Hopefully everything. I'm not sure how your plans for your Encrypted Twilight Texts are going to work out, though -- Ortell's moved up in the world.
Steve asked:
Do the new zones in Cataclysm feel as open and um, epic as Northrend, and how do the re-worked old zones feel, size wise, with flying mounts?
The new zones feel enormous, because they are enormous. Vashj'ir alone has three sub-zones, each with their own map.
Each new Cataclysm zone has an engaging main story and a few side plots to follow, but they're paced differently. Hyjal is, to quote Rossi, a doomsday clock -- you're constantly moving forward, because if you don't, Ragnaros will win and Hyjal will burn to the ground. Deepholm is similar in its stakes, only instead of just losing Hyjal, the entirety of Azeroth will collapse into the elemental plane if you don't repair the World Pillar. Vashj'ir is a different story -- the boat you take is meant to travel to the newly-risen island's surface to fight the opposite faction for control, but that trip takes a bad turn once you near Vashj'ir. It takes a little longer than Hyjal to complete, but is such an entirely new experience that you likely won't mind.
Some old-world zones are, obviously, bigger or smaller than others. Flying overhead is a different experience depending on the zone. Flying works really well in some cases (any zone not covered in tall trees) and not so great in others (any zone covered in tall trees). Everything looks beautiful from the right distance, but seriously, can we lose the fog already? Let me deal with my computer, Blizzard. You just make it so everything in the distance isn't the same color fog and we'll be good to go.
ROB13 asked:
Have the Knights of the Ebon Blade, or just death knight NPC's taken some steps into Cataclysm? I would think they would need to do something now that lorewise the Lich King is dead.
From what I've seen, the Knights of the Ebon Blade don't have a lot going on in this expansion. Thassarian and Koltira, though, are involved in the Battle for Andorhal in Western Plaguelands. They're supposed to be fighting each other, but bros is bros, you know? Not that that particular decision works out very well for Koltira.
The Ebon Blade might have a presence in EPL, but I haven't quested there yet. What I have seen is mostly Argent Crusade banners.

I guess I'm in the minority but I always liked Syphilis. I mean, Sithilus. I mean, Silithus.
Sean Sep 11th 2010 12:31PM
haha it was always a bit of a pet peeve of mine when people wouldn't say that correctly, though the old design of Silithus was probably as annoying as Syphilis. I also knew a lot of people that would call it Dalarn instead of Dalaran... in vent.
Samutz Sep 11th 2010 12:34PM
Silly, this is.
xenothaulus Sep 11th 2010 12:37PM
The worst is people who say "mee-lee" for melee. Makes we want to {cry|scream}.
Amaxe Sep 11th 2010 12:37PM
Sounds like the old debates we had over the pronunciation of "Scholomance." I always pronounced it Sho-lo-mance while my friend pronounced it Sko-lo-mance saying it should be pronounced like Scholastic.
I suspect he was right, but I never admitted it to him
Danterius Sep 11th 2010 1:27PM
Honestly, after 1.5 years in the game, I JUST realized that it's "Silithus", and NOT "Sithilus". :P
Dril Sep 11th 2010 1:34PM
Funny pronunciations I've heard:
Maggyloss instead of Malygos.
Morris instead Moroes.
Sour (or Sur) - wick instead of Surwich, which, if based off British towns, is Surrich.
Ones I always got/get wrong:
Necropolisis (don't ask) instead of Necropolis.
Gil-nee-ass rather than Gil-neigh-ass.
Skoll-oh-mace rather than Scholomance (I genuinely still refuse to say the R there...it ruins the word for me :/)
Thing about Scholo is whether or not you use the German-esque (i.e. Sch is shu) pronunciation or the kuh sound. I say Skeh-dew-al (Schedule) because I find the shu sound kind of odd to say in those words.
It's scon (scone) though, not scowne. Just sayin'

"Scholomance" is in fact pronounced like "scholastic". It's actually not a Blizzard invention, but a real word, and it literally means "school of wizardry". It was a folkloric school of black magic run by the Devil; Stoker references it in Dracula. Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scholomance

I always like it when people shorten Shattrath to Shat.
Moghar Sep 11th 2010 2:30PM
I've always had problems pronouncing Shattrath. To this day it sounds just plain wrong to me.
Hey I have a question thats been bugging me for some time, and, as Cataclysm nears, it seems more and more weird. Where are the full troll and worgen druid skins? I am seriously biting my nails to see them and the bear and cat forms look absolutely amazing. I fell in love with the worgen car the moment i saw it, even though I'n not a fan of the idea of werewolves. I mean seriously, is it hard to give us some awesome voodoo trea form or wolf-like moonkin concept art???
Danieru Lynx Sep 11th 2010 2:42PM
The most common one I heard was Saurfang being pronounced 'sour-fang' (unless that's how it's supposed to be pronounced and I'm simply wrong, although it betrays the name's spelling if it is).
Also, re: Silithus/Silithid - is emphasis placed on the 'li'? Like, is it 'sih-LIH-thid' or 'sillih-thid'? I've always pronounced it the latter way, but have suspected for a while now that it's supposed to be the former.
Also, a friend of mine and I oftentimes jokingly pronounce Northrend 'noth-rund'. No particular reason, we're just cool like that, =P
Eudeyrn Sep 11th 2010 2:50PM
I'm right there with you, xenothaulus - hearing someone say "melee" like meal-y is one of my biggest pet peeves. It's MAY-LAY, dammit.
Elovan Sep 11th 2010 3:04PM
@Danieru
I believe it is supposed to be pronounced Sour-fang, much like Sauron from Lord of the Rings is pronounced sour-on, not sar-on.

About a minute in Thrall says Saurfang, pronounces it like sour-fang.

Agamag... Agamm... Aggamananagaga...
Agamaggan!

I always twitch when I hear Howling Fa-jord. -_-

Scroll down my friend! They are very cool I think. I'm of two minds as to whether I want to just race change to Troll or pay the extra and go worgen!! They are both VERY smexy suits...er....skins.
MrJackSauce Sep 11th 2010 4:51PM
I wold also like to say that the concept art looks OMG SO AWESOME!
Dave Sep 11th 2010 5:08PM
One of my guildies insists that C'thun is pronounced SEE-thuhn. I want to gag whenever he says it.
Aloix Sep 11th 2010 5:08PM
Totes agree on 'meal-y' being cringe-tastic.
About Scholo.. I used to want to pronounce it 'German-esque' (as I do speak a bit of German) but did later learn the pronunciation the way Blizz intended and so now use that one. Still feels weird that way, though.
