You shouldn't worry about the numbers yet. I thought the poster asked a perfectly reasonable question of whether we wanted as much use of the efficient heal as he was doing. I said no. That either means he wasn't healing as well as he could have been, or more likely in this case, the numbers aren't yet tuned correctly.

I really fail to see why you guys thought it would be good design to introduce the 'auto attack' heal to force healers to be spamming 100% of the time. I enjoy healing because it is reactive/triage oriented -- if I wanted to be predictive/spam a rotation I would play DPS.

We don't want healers to be spamming one heal 100% of the time. I'm not sure how you could be following Cataclysm news and think that. The reactive / triage feel is what we're going for. But that means that there needs to be room for weaker heals that you use when nobody is in immediate danger. That's triage -- "Oh, this guy's not going to die in the next few seconds, so a Heal is all he needs."

Patch 4.0.1 will launch several weeks before Cataclysm ships, similar to 2.0.1 and 3.0.2. It will include:
- New launcher
- Class changes
- Stat changes
- Talent tree overhaul
- Glyph changes
- Reforging?
- Mastery? (although it might not be useful until Cataclysm)
Patch 4.0.3 will launch shortly before Cataclysm ships. Based on what Tom Chilton and others have said, this will include (without purchase of Cataclysm):
- Cataclysm intro cinematic and login screen
- Revamped classic Eastern Kingdom and Kalimdor zones
- New race/class combinations for existing races
- Graphics improvements (water, etc)
- Guild leveling system?
Cataclysm will ship shortly afterwards and buying it will unlock:
- Level 85 level cap
- 525 Profession skill caps
- Goblins and Worgen, and their starter zones
- New Level 80+ zones, dungeons, heroics, raids
- New battlegrounds
- Rated battlegrounds
- Flying mounts in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor
- Archaeology
- 310% speed flying mounts?
Please correct anything I got wrong or missed

That looks almost right. Guild Advancement/Achievements should go under Cataclysm launch though and mount speed changes should be moved up to 4.0.1.

Woot 4.0.1 has 310% flying! :D The earlier the better imo. :D
morgatho Sep 14th 2010 9:36AM
it says 310 flying will be in 4.0.3, not 4.0.1
SunGod228 Sep 14th 2010 9:49AM
Darky is correct it was part of the blue response
"and mount speed changes should be moved up to 4.0.1. "

"Edit: Just in case I misunderstood you -- or in case I'm misunderstood -- when I say mount speed changes should be in 4.0.1, I'm referring to the ability to use any flying mount at 310% speed if you have already earned a mount of that speed. "

Blast. I was hoping to buy the 310% in 4.0.1. But it seems it doesn't mean that.
Guess the article needs to change to reflect this judging by the comments

I'm curious as to why I got downranked from merely stating I had gotten my hopes up before the edit was made by Zarhym and suggesting the article be amended to reflect this edit.
Darky Sep 15th 2010 8:36AM
Well i bought 310% in the PTR...........
NynjaMonkii Sep 14th 2010 9:18AM
mount speed changes should be moved up to 4.0.1.
Does that mean we'll be able to buy 310% flying speed with 4.0.1? (And the associated mount scaling?)
Darky Sep 14th 2010 9:28AM
Yes and yes.
Darky Sep 14th 2010 9:29AM
Well now that i think about it more like maybe and yes or even probably and yes or perhaps and yes...
Narayana Sep 14th 2010 11:28AM
You can see mount scaling on the PTRs right now. Everyone is walking around Org on proto drakes and other flying mounts. It works the other way, too. I mounted up a 60% mount and still had the 100% speed.
V Magius Sep 14th 2010 10:39AM
Actually, I think it's no to buying the skill and yes to the scaling. Or, that's what it looks like Zarhym is saying. I never got around to checking the riding trainers to see what's available and the character I copied doesn't have a 310 mount, just 280.
hicks Sep 14th 2010 12:55PM
I checked Hira Snowdawn in Dalaran on the PTR and she sells 310% flying...for 5k gold. The character I copied over does have a 310% mount, thought I didn't check any of his others to see if they had scaled up also, but the fact that I had it as an option to buy leads me to believe a) it's a bug or b) everyone's going to have to pay.
woshiernog Sep 14th 2010 2:50PM
@Narayana now that is good news! I never liked how the epic mounts have armor. I'm a simple man and would like a simple mount. You sir/madam/other have made my day :)
Vedorian Sep 14th 2010 9:19AM
Really Seems like we are getting closer than I thought. Perhaps the Nov. 2 whisperings are true!
Arbolamante Sep 14th 2010 10:32AM
So I'll have maybe six weeks to play Civ V and 4ish to play Fallout New Vegas? There's not enough time, cap'n! She's gonna explode! KAAAAAHHNNN!
....or something. Clearly my thinking is a little muddled right now.
Vedorian Sep 14th 2010 9:21AM
I am guessing he means the mount scaling. i would expect to see the 310% mount purchasing ability till we see the new continents.
G2g591 Sep 14th 2010 9:40AM
No, the ability to scale all your flying mounts to 310% WILL be in 4.0.1, the ability to buy it is currently on the 4.0.1 PTR right now.

I'd still like to know whether reforging is going to be a tradeskill ability as originally announced. I've hung onto leatherworking specifically for that reason.
I know on beta they had, for lack of a better term, reforging kiosks.
