Ghostcrawler -- Healing in CataclysmQuote:

You shouldn't worry about the numbers yet. I thought the poster asked a perfectly reasonable question of whether we wanted as much use of the efficient heal as he was doing. I said no. That either means he wasn't healing as well as he could have been, or more likely in this case, the numbers aren't yet tuned correctly.

I really fail to see why you guys thought it would be good design to introduce the 'auto attack' heal to force healers to be spamming 100% of the time. I enjoy healing because it is reactive/triage oriented -- if I wanted to be predictive/spam a rotation I would play DPS.

We don't want healers to be spamming one heal 100% of the time. I'm not sure how you could be following Cataclysm news and think that. The reactive / triage feel is what we're going for. But that means that there needs to be room for weaker heals that you use when nobody is in immediate danger. That's triage -- "Oh, this guy's not going to die in the next few seconds, so a Heal is all he needs."

Zarhym -- Patch 4.0.1 will include?Quote:
Patch 4.0.1 will launch several weeks before Cataclysm ships, similar to 2.0.1 and 3.0.2. It will include:
- New launcher
- Class changes
- Stat changes

- Cataclysm intro cinematic and login screen
- Revamped classic Eastern Kingdom and Kalimdor zones
- New race/class combinations for existing races

That looks almost right. Guild Advancement/Achievements should go under Cataclysm launch though and mount speed changes should be moved up to 4.0.1.

Nope it wont be a trade skill - you talk to a NPC and he will give you
1) the option to reforge
2) Reverse the reforging
3) take all your money!
Narshe Sep 14th 2010 10:06AM
Reforging is done by a specific NPC, it has nothing to do with tradeskills or something players can "learn."
Amaxe Sep 14th 2010 11:21AM
Will we be able to reforge resilience out of our armor? I'm one of those people who finds grinding pvp epics to be better than my T7 armor and would like to benefit from exchanging resilience to something useful.
Killik Sep 14th 2010 11:22AM
No, it's not going to be a tradeskill. You have to visit an NPC called a Thaumaturge to reforge your armour.
Killik Sep 14th 2010 11:29AM
@Amaxe So you don't enjoy playing PVE content but want to repurpose PVP gear for PVE? What on earth for? :)
Amaxe Sep 14th 2010 12:32PM
No, I *do* like PvE and dislike PvP. But I can't raid at 2000+ latency. So the only way to improve my gear is through the old PvP "Welfare Epics" system (basically I only do the Wintergrasp weeklies to get heirlooms and get this as a side benefit).
Since resilience is changing to be useful only in PvP and I want to mainly PvE (I am almost done with the wintergrasp heirloom grind), I was wondering if I could reforge resilience to something more useful.

"AQ20 has been converted to a 10 player raid. "
...and I JIZZED. IN. MY PANTS.

"Hey pig how ya doin? Most people want to eat you but I only want to talk. Say hi to your mother for me!"

I didn't do that, but I'm very happy about the prospect. I always liked the high weirdness in Ahn'Qiraj.
Ysonia Sep 14th 2010 12:46PM
Might have to start thinking of it as AQ10 now...
falc Sep 14th 2010 9:29AM
"AQ20 has been converted to a 10 player raid."
Raises the question whether this means that the mobs will be retuned for lvl 60 - or will it be totally reworked for lvl 85 players.
I personally hoping it will not be yet another naxx.
Darky Sep 14th 2010 9:31AM
Haven't the raids that are coming with realise all ready been announced?
Thundrcrackr Sep 14th 2010 10:05AM
I wondered the same thing.
It blows my mind that Blizz doesn't think to include these tiny yet totally important details in their replies. It would have taken them two extra seconds to type what level its tuned for.
I can't imagine them taking the time to retune it for 10 people though unless its going to be a new 80+ raid. They've never done that in the past with any of the old raids without making it a new one.
Prances in Underpantss Sep 14th 2010 10:17AM
If it was retuned for 85, I'm pretty certain they would have said that. Since they didn't, we can safely assume they did just what they said they did -
"AQ20 has been converted to a 10 player raid. "
Since they are retuning ALL mobs in the game, I'm sure they made the mobs in AQ easier so a 10man can do it.
Keith Sep 14th 2010 10:59AM
Really? Why?
Won't retuning AQ20 to be a 10player level 60 raid mean it will only be played by the small handful of people who play in level-locked guilds, and the teeny fraction of people who ignore all the talk of the level cap and associated content, assuming they can find 9 other people with the same approach who form a viable raid. Or by bored 85s trying to solo it.
Retuning AQ20 to be a level 80+ 10 player raid makes it *another* place to go when you're bored with *insert progression content area*, for fun which still has some element of challenge. Huge numbers of people started playing in BC and WotLK, who (if they've seen AQ at all) will probably have flattened it for the achievement/any rare drops with a bunch of 80s i.e. not really experienced it as an actual fight.
For my money, I'd be delighted if *all* of the remaining low-level raids were retuned. They don't necessarily have to drop current loot; just making the fights worth putting a group together for would be a great way for newer players (like me) to experience the older content in a vaguely meaningful way.
Orlan Sep 14th 2010 11:15AM
I think they're doing it just to make guild achievement on it easier. And to get rid of all 20 people raids altogether.
Prances in Underpantss Sep 14th 2010 11:23AM
Well, I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool to have "another place to go when you're bored of the current content." And I understand that right now, if anyone is going to run it, it will be the level-locked guilds or with higher level toons. But, think about this:
The only time you would actually need 20 players to run it would be if all or most are about level 60. Finding 10 60's is a lot easier than finding 20.
This is probably just because they want all raids to be 10- and 25-man.
And once again, they would say if it were being retuned for level 80 or 85. When they retuned Onyxia, they put it right out that it would be for 80's and there would be no more level 60 Onyxia raid. When they retuned Naxx, it was because it was for the new expansion. And it fit well with the theme of the new expansion. And they made note that it would be a level 80 raid.
dodgeballer2005 Sep 14th 2010 3:48PM
What about AQ40 then?
lolikitty Sep 14th 2010 9:31AM
What's with the 310% mounts ? I thought i read somewhere that 310% mounts would be nerfed to 280% so everybody has to buy the master riding skill anyway.
