The Guild season 4, episode 9
Pirates' Day is coming next weekend, which makes "Pirate Paddy," the latest episode of The Guild, the award-winning web series by Felicia Day, just a wee bit more appropriate. This week the story moves on to Codex's commercial for Cheesybeard's, which has been abruptly taken over by Bladezz and his mad editing skills. When everything blows up in her face, Codex is struck with a sudden realization -- but will she manage to pull herself out of the mess she made? Meanwhile, Tink and Clara are mired in their own problems -- mainly an error in ordering products for their new business, which has quickly overtaken Clara's home. You can check out episode 9 above, and find any episodes you've missed and get caught up on The Guild's official series channel.
Looking for more on The Guild? We've previously interviewed Felicia Day at BlizzCon 2009, and Michele Boyd gave us an interview for 15 Minutes of Fame. And of course, the cast of The Guild was also kind enough to stop by our BlizzCon reader meetup last year and say hello to everyone.

Not funny. Watch "The Inbetweeners" instead.

Is that available through wow.com too?
Elmouth Sep 15th 2010 2:05AM

"An idea...Clara..."
"I know right? Ah ha!"
Gotta love the endings to this show.

I know right? I love how he delivered that line. XD
Yay The Guild!

First they cover an episode of the show after claiming up and down they weren't going to because it wasn't directly related to the game and there were easier ways for fans to find it. Then they announce they are changing their domain name, and now they have covered two episodes in a row. I'm glad to see the Guild back in the coverage but I am finding myself more and more convinced something is going on behind the scenes at wow.com. That or I've just seen too many conspiracy theory movies, if only there was a way to know...

Page referral kickback.

To be honest, I don't see why them covering the Guild or not covering the Guild is such a huge deal. Whether you have no interest in the Guild, don't care if Wow.com covers it, watch it regularly, or have never heard of Felicia Day before, no one is forcing you to read or comment on the article.
If you don't play a Hunter, don't read the Hunter articles. If you don't like the Guild or think it's stupid that Wow.com occasionally covers it, pay no attention to the articles.
I keep up with the Guild, so I know a new episode already came out, and I check the article because I like seeing what people (the non-troll, non-GUILD SUX crowd) enjoy about it.
As for the "behind the scenes" bit, I'm saving my tinfoil hat for the Cata release date. If something is up, I'm sure we'll eventually get an article letting us know what it is.

Like I said in my comment, I am glad to see them covering new episodes again as I enjoy the show and enjoy discussing it with the WoW Insider community, I just know that there was a lot of heated debate in comments about when they stopped covering it and how much they seemed to defend that stance which is why it seems odd that they've started up again is what I was trying to point out. Regardless of the reason they are doing it, be it page referral money, or something huge like AOL secretly getting bought out by Microsoft which pays for the Guild I'm glad to see coverage here, it was just a curious hum ala Arsenio Hall from his late night talk show "Things that make you go hum" and yes now you all know that a: I'm old, and b: I admit to watching that show.

I must confess to being confused as to why there is the reversal on the coverage. Is it to shut up the complainers? Because they realize a lot more people care than they thought? Other reasons?
Maybe it is none of my business, but it is a 180 degree reversal so it makes me curious.
Dreyja Sep 14th 2010 8:30PM
I wouldn't read anything into it. I'm just glad to see it back.
dyre42 Sep 14th 2010 8:30PM
I think the reason for the reversal is simple:
Its a slow news day at the end of an expansion.

The conspiracy theories are silly. Who in our network would even force us to post episodes of The Guild? The only thing that happened behind the scenes is that we came to the conclusion that there was, indeed, a demand (and thus a need) for posting new episodes of the Guild each week.
Is this a change in policy from what we were doing just the other week? Yep, absolutely. Is there a conspiracy or an edict from above about it? Nope. I've had to say this more than once over the last couple of days, but I will happily say it again: the content of our site is not controlled by anybody but our editorial staff. Our contracts actually protect us from that sort of thing. Everything that is or is not posted is determined by our editorial staff and nobody else.
The Guild enjoyed the support and our audience had been very outspoken about wanting us to post the episodes again, so the editorial staff reassessed our coverage of The Guild. We decided that no, it wouldn't hurt to start covering it again.
We didn't stop covering The Guild initially because we had anything against it. We love The Guild and everybody that works on The Guild. We just didn't think the weekly posting was needed. We've changed our minds and will be posting it again.

You guys just can't win, Alex.
Dreyja Sep 14th 2010 8:59PM
People are always going to see stuff that isn't there. Or MAYBE Alex, you are merely a puppet of some kind of malevolent corporation and YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT! X-p
Spark Sep 14th 2010 9:01PM
Alex. You're ruining the fun. You and your calm reasoned tone and behind-the-scenes perspective. It's just not the same as a good round of What Don't They Want Us to Know. We'll have to give up playing.
Of course... that's what THEY WANT us to do... but WHY?
arixian Sep 14th 2010 9:50PM
So I have seen too many conspiracy theory movies. DARN YOU Will Smith and Shia LaBeouf DARN YOU!!!
Agrona Sep 14th 2010 9:52PM
Ya'll do great with original content like the Lore back-stories and class update breakdowns. Having to skip a page or two of this filler stuff to get to the meaty articles is what stinks.
No one thinks there is a 'conspiracy'. You imagined that word all by yourself.
