I have to admit I'm rather surprised they haven't put out the Cataclysm cinematic trailer yet.

Just reactivated my account for Operation: Gnomeregan.
... Tuesday Maintanance in 7:00.
Such is life, I suppose.
sprout_daddy Sep 14th 2010 8:08AM
The gnome and troll events are live? Is the ending of Operation Gnomeregan live too? /sarcasm
I guess other people are having better luck, but I've participated in that event at least ten times now, and I've yet to make it to the end without the whole thing bugging out. I know there are tricks (like staying behind MekkaTorque), but those rely on everyone doing the event listening and paying attention, a prospect I've long given up on in WoW. It would be nice if they would just fix the event - particularly since some people have been waiting for this for quite some time.
Hanak Sep 14th 2010 8:18AM
For me, it only bugged out once, and EVERYONE made sure to stay with Mekkatorque after that. Besides, you only have to get him in combat.
But yeah, you'd think they would have foreseen players rushing ahead of the NPCs.

I found out when he freezes, move. Don't wait around for a respawn. The first time I did it, I got there late, and waited for the event to restart, I stood where I thought he would be, looked like a place to give a speech. Event was over, and all the level 80 Elites respawned, and killed me.
The next go thru, he froze at the entrace, I hung around, waiting to see if he would reset, and after a few minutes, he despawned, and the level 80 Elites respawned. So I run back, grab my body, and all of them aggro on me again. I die, run back, still aren't out of range of them, die, run back, grab my body, and run.
This time he actually didn't freeze, and we completed it.
Silversol Sep 14th 2010 12:04PM
The only toon I was able to complete it on had about 15-20 other people... not doing a damn thing. If you let the NPCs do everything, you'll complete it. So they basically give you god mode to sit around. I've been waiting for a fix for this to complete it on my other toons. World events should be somewhat fun IMO and not an annoyance.
Also, this event was tested on the PTR, how could a bug of this size go unnoticed?
Tinwhisker Sep 14th 2010 8:52AM
Speaking of Gelbin, over the weekend I joined the local Horde PvP group in their antics. We decided that before he takes back Gnomer, Gelbin should see the world. We kept him for a few hours in the afternoon and took him all over Eastern Kingdoms, getting screenshots all the way. In the end we brought him down to the Undercity where he and Sylvanas had it out.
For one day, Gelbin was "The Roaming Gnome."
JKWood Sep 14th 2010 1:03PM
I hope somebody got that on Fraps.
Tinwhisker Sep 14th 2010 4:24PM
Yup, lots of screenshots and lots of video of it. No video has been posted yet but I'm sure it will be soon. When it gets posted I'll be sure to let WoWInsider know.
As for what happens when the king is away, nobody can start or end the questline for the event. Nobody on the server seemed to mind though or at least nobody in either faction said "put him pack!" Everyone who could have done it had finished by the weekend and we only had him for a couple hours anyway.
There were a few that were upset that you couldn't do the same for Vol'jin but that's Blizzard's failure I guess.
Mr Lee Sep 14th 2010 11:23AM
I was so excited about those events going live, and then extremely pissed when I got half way through and it suddenly ended. Apparently you have to be 75+ to do the last steps of the quest which I highly doubt I'll be able to achieve on both sides by November.
Very, very disappointing.
Ametrine Sep 14th 2010 12:23PM
My gnome, as of this moment, is nearly 73 - being a few bars shy of such. I still hope to get the remaining 2-1/4 levels needed for the final event before it's gone - but DAMN, I forgot how slow Wrath leveling is!
JKWood Sep 14th 2010 1:04PM
Do you have heirlooms? I found Wrath leveling to be much faster than pretty much anything else besides the starting zones...
Ametrine Sep 14th 2010 2:07PM
Nope, no heirlooms - all my 80 toons are Horde on a different server.
Eccentor Sep 15th 2010 10:43AM
Test
Capnwinters Sep 15th 2010 12:27PM
Argh!
