Cataclysm currency exchange rates

The Cataclysm currency conversion rates in brief are:
To gold:
- Emblem of Heroism = 5.5 gold each
- Emblem of Valor = 5.5 gold each
- Emblem of Conquest = 5.5 gold each
- Badge of Justice = 1.833 gold each
- Old Honor * 0.024
- Old Arena Points * 0.85
- Battleground Mark of Honor * 2.976
- Wintergrasp Mark of Honor * 19.08
- Stone Keeper Shard * 1.6
- Venture Coin * 3
- Spirit Shard * 1
- (Emblems of Triumph + Emblems of Frost ) * 2.75
BlizzardHere's some information on how each of the currencies will be converted in the next content patch. Keep in mind these values may change, and they can get a bit math heavy. Just know that our intent is to appropriately value each mark and provide a conversion we feel is fair.
The following items are immediately converted to gold:
Your New Honor Points total will be the sum of the following amounts:
Your Justice Points total will be equal to (Emblems of Triumph + Emblems of Frost ) * 2.75
Again, the softcap for both Honor and Justice conversions is 4000 points. This means that if a character converts to above 4,000 points, it will not be possible for them to earn more until they fall below the 4,000 cap.
A hardcap will be implemented in a following patch before Cataclysm's release. At that time, any excess points above 4,000 will be converted as follows:

I read wow.com daily. I haven't been to MMO-Champion in months.

hmm so if i got Emblem of Heroism x200 i get like 1000000 gold? is that mean that Gold in Cata will be worsless? or its going to be like 1000 gold = a Flask and mounts going to cost like 300000 gold? can someone tell me what i did not understoon right?
kobelayton Sep 15th 2010 1:20PM
umm... 200 x 5.5 = 1100g Like many posters have stated, 200 emblems = 20 gems * approx 75-100 per gem = 1500-2000g.
Eric Sep 15th 2010 1:31PM
You are off by a factor of 1000 - 200 badges would be 1100 gold.
Jamesisgreat Sep 15th 2010 1:32PM
Emblem of heroism = 5.5 gold
5.5 gold x 200 emblems = 1,100 gold

Or, alternatively...
According to this new currency conversion information:
Multicolor epic gems (purple, green, orange) are intrinsically worth 55 gold (10 emblems * 5.5g).
Single color epic gems (red, yellow, blue) are intrinsically worth 110 gold (20 emblems * 5.5g).

Any idea or guesses as to what costs of 85 gear will be? Will the 4k honor you can carry over get you a piece of gear or just the stitching?
tgrhwke Sep 15th 2010 1:19PM
That doesn't match what is currently on the regular PTR for Patch 4.0.1. All my Emblems of Frost & Triumph converted 1 for 1 to Justice Points. Honor and Arena points also converted 1 for 1.
Currently on the PTR i251 T10 is going for 694 Justice Points each for gloves / shoulders and 1100 Justice Points each for head, chest and legs. That's 253 and 400 emblems each respectively at the exchange rate listed above.
SamLowry Sep 15th 2010 1:52PM
Holy crap.
Wolftech Sep 15th 2010 2:16PM
Thats got to be a mistake... Otherwise, they just split the gulf again from casuals and hardcore.
Barinthos Sep 15th 2010 2:26PM
Wait a sec...let me get this right...and i'm hoping i'm not right.
With the conversion rate listed above, and the points on the PTR if you wanted to collect enough emblems to get just the gloves, you'll need 253 emblems JUST for the gloves?
CyberNigma Sep 16th 2010 2:45AM
Remember, you don't have to think in terms of how much t10 level gear costs in Frost when considering the JP cost. Currently even if you have 1000 triumph emblems you still cannot spend them on a set of gloves.
This is a good deal if you play it right. Spend all of your Frost prior to the conversion. After the conversion you can actually buy frost items with the converted triumph emblems you used to have.
Tell me how being able to buy T10 gloves with 253 Triumph emblems is bad when you currently cannot buy them at all using Triumph.
If you don't spend your frost, then yeah.. You lose with that one. However, if someone has 500 triumphs right now and 0 frost they still cannot buy those T10 gloves. It's a win for them.

A lot of you are talking about the honor conversion/Justice Points. Understandable, yes.
But I'm I the only one who's seeing the amount of Gold potential here?
Assume you have a geared level 80 tank. A heroic is 5 to max 15 minutes work normally. For that, you get
a) Emblems themselves, which will be converted to gold ( since you can downrank them to Conquest before Cata ships )
b) Instant queues
c) Gold ITSELF from running the actual Random Heoric
d) Not to mention the amount of DE mats, BoE greens and blues
It might be so that I missed a line, but 5,5G per emblem, with 4-7 emblems each heroic, + 20 gold for running it, it comes down to around 50 + gold each 10 minutes.
Is this too good to be true?
kobelayton Sep 15th 2010 1:24PM
See above, you emblems have been worth more than that for a long time. 10 emblems = a gem worth (minimum) 50g, more likely 80-100g or more. Go ahead and farm them up and trade for 5.5g instead though.
SamLowry Sep 15th 2010 1:56PM
"Is this too good to be true?"
Yes, because it takes 5 minutes just for Brann's encounter, so don't give me that "5 to max 15 minutes" baloney--most instances take a MINIMUM of 15 minutes, dude.
bui Sep 15th 2010 1:23PM
Meh, thats all I got for this. Don't get me wrong its awesome that Blizzard isn't just zapping away our stuff with 0 in return but well sill meh.
kobelayton Sep 15th 2010 1:26PM
Meh sums it up. But finally blizzard is consolidating all of these currencies. They were smart enough to make gems cost heroism to get rid of our valor/conquest badges, but why have badges of justice and spirit shards been sitting around so long. Kudos to them for turning, what, 15 currencies? into 2 (and well, adding 2 more later).
Lemons Sep 15th 2010 1:32PM
They're gunna send you gold in the mail and your reaction is meh? You must not have very many currencies stockpiled otherwise you would be excited.
bui Sep 15th 2010 2:46PM
That or I horde gold like a dragon and don't give a crap about a few thousand more.
vova_kovach Sep 15th 2010 1:42PM
