Meet Deathy. He's one of the new companion pets that will be joining us in Cataclysm. He won't be the only one, though, as the latest build added a host of new mounts and pets.

I know there isn't a whole lot of information yet on the mounts or pets, but what are you looking forward to picking up?

Do the denizens of Uldum now recognize Marneus Calgar as their spiritual liege?
Vodkamartini Sep 18th 2010 4:03PM
When I saw the word ultramarine, I thought it might be amphibious. Rock on, a rideable cockroach I can use in the deserts or seas of Azeroth.
Then I thought about the WH40K jab. Yeah, I could see that.
So now the question is ... is AQ going to have some level 85 tie-in?
/hate the Ultramarines only because I hate the gutless hype that is Peyton Manning.
//still want a rideable Cthulu naval/aerial (think seaplane/submarine) mount for my warlock.

According to the feature at the top of the page, Deathy is a Blizzcon 2010 "exclusive" pet - but you start the article with "He's one of the new companion pets that will be joining us in Cataclysm"...?
Chivvy Sep 18th 2010 5:56AM
He'll be joining in Cataclysm...just not on release, as it were.
tgrhwke Sep 18th 2010 7:43AM
Actually, Deathy is the Collector's Edition pet. As far as I know the BlizzCon special item, be it a pet, a mount, or something else, has not been announced yet.
Grimgore Sep 18th 2010 8:55AM
@ tgrhwke
The collector's edition pet is Lil' Deathwing, which is a whelpling. Deathy is the Blizzcon pet, and is a Deathwing-styled murloc.
Aureliusz Sep 18th 2010 9:02AM
ACTUALLY, Deathy IS the BlizzCon '10 pet.
http://us.blizzard.com/blizzcon/
The Collector's Edition pet will be a small drakeling, Lil' Deathwing.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm/features/collector.html
This is consistent with last year's BlizzCon - which rewarded viewers with Grunty, a baby Murloc Marine - as well as the collectors editions of Wrath of the Lich King (Frosty the Frostwyrm) and The Burning Crusade (Netherwhelp).
Ryooshi Sep 18th 2010 9:06AM
Li'l Deathwing is the baby drake skinned with Deathwing's model, and is the Collector's Edition pet. See: http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/08/06/cataclysm-beta-mini-deathwing-discovered/
Deathy is the murloc skinned with Deathwing's model, and is the BlizzCon 2010 pet. See: http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/08/25/blizzcon-2010-pet-revealed/

I am kind of wondering if the sandstorm drake is going to be a new druid form that allows for a passenger. If not then maybe alchemy, seems odd for anything else though.
Dr. Nothing Sep 18th 2010 6:17AM
New spider pet! YES PLEASE!!!! =D
I'd be quite interested to see a new achievement pet along the lines of the the Kirin Tor familiar as well :)

Concept art from a while ago showed the worgen racial mount as a kind of hideously ugly hog with extra tusks or something. But since there's no particular reason the worgen would start riding hellboars, I'm hoping they've changed their minds. Some kind of great big hulking riding wolf would be neat. A big heavy-shouldered short-faced shaggy doggie with an attitude.
jackal912 Sep 18th 2010 6:23AM
Isn't that called the orc mount?
kooda Sep 18th 2010 6:24AM
Worg on steroids? No thanks I'd much rather worgen were just given Plainsrunning like the tauren had originally, seeing wolfmen on mounts will be just blegh.
Noyou Sep 18th 2010 6:28AM
Yeah the concept art of them on a fluffy boar didn't sit too well with me. Majorly deciding whether to give a chopper to my worgen or dwarf shammy. I'm kind of weird in that I don't like my toons using the same type of mount for their main rides. Except for the chopper. They are that cool :) Then again worgen would probably look cool on a mammoth or kodo.
Groth Sep 18th 2010 6:54AM
Plainsrunning for worgen would be OP for the same reason it was for Tauren. Running away from stuff, dropping combat and immediately going to full mount speed? Lovely idea, never going to work.
As for wolves riding wolves... meh.
Not sure how much time worgen will be spending in wolf form on a mount, so alot of the time it'll be just another mounted human.
vinniedcleaner Sep 18th 2010 7:56AM
Worgens should get a 'running' form with a cast time.
Wolrem Sep 18th 2010 12:12PM
you mean this?
http://db.mmo-champion.com/s/87840/running-wild/
Drakkenfyre Sep 18th 2010 1:52PM
Groth, you have no idea how Plainsrunning worked. It sucked so bad that's why they dropped it.
Could not be cast in combat, when cast had a 10-second ramp up time before you got to full speed, once at full speed if you stopped for anything or were hit, you dropped back down, and had to start all over again.
You couldn't do what you described.

"Gold Mini Jouster."
Seems we're never going to be able to escape the jousting.
