According to the feature at the top of the page, Deathy is a Blizzcon 2010 "exclusive" pet - but you start the article with "He's one of the new companion pets that will be joining us in Cataclysm"...?

Actually, Deathy is the Collector's Edition pet. As far as I know the BlizzCon special item, be it a pet, a mount, or something else, has not been announced yet.

The collector's edition pet is Lil' Deathwing, which is a whelpling. Deathy is the Blizzcon pet, and is a Deathwing-styled murloc.

This is consistent with last year's BlizzCon - which rewarded viewers with Grunty, a baby Murloc Marine - as well as the collectors editions of Wrath of the Lich King (Frosty the Frostwyrm) and The Burning Crusade (Netherwhelp).
