Sunday Morning Funnies: Lions and tigers and dragons
Comic news: Fyreuni announced that "Daily Quests is on hold while I work on Emergency Kindergarten Lesson 2!" I am definitely a little disappointed, but I think the project will be worth it.
Tokkar was also kind enough to point out that Shawn Tommelleo of Coffin Comics has a new project called What's Shakin' that Tommelleo (aka Coffinshaker) described as not set in "WoWland," but it does feature the same characters. Sorry I missed it; the end of August and beginning of September were very hectic!
To answer tr_rrr, Cru the Dwarf and other comics that do not update very often will not necessarily show up on the list as soon as they update, because I don't have the time to check every comic that ever posts something WoW-related each week. I rely on tips and comments and my own whims to learn about them. This is also why Kuo was only added again last week, for example. Thanks for tipping me off that it has updated, though!
The comics!
Oh, curse these hands with their non-drawing abilities!
This column always makes my Sundays happier, shinier and sunnier. It also makes me wish I could draw. =]
Keep up the great work, you artistic folks! I enjoy the inspiration and LOLs.
*goes back to his oft-delayed new machinima*
Bonus comic: Coffin Comics' It's Called a Road, It's Called a Rainbow Road. It's not WoW-related but it totally has to be posted.

Coffin Shaker's 'What's Shakin'' is much like 'Teh Gladiators' and 'LFG' as in its clear where its inspirations are drawn from even if they build up new worlds, plots and races around it. Plus we WoW-nerds still get a kick and a laugh from it.
And in the case of the former it’s really interesting to see an artist put the characters we know and love in a completely different light and challenge themselves to go from gag-a-day to a full blown storyline. Not an easy thing as both can be tough in their own ways and need a totally different mindset to be embraced fully.

awe nuts! I wrote out such nice responses and didn't realize my "fire fox no script" was rejecting everything for some reason. XD ... /cry
ANYWAYS!!! I wanted to say thanks to miss Lady for the shout out! And a BIG ol thank you to Amanda for including my new comic in the line up!

I'm gonna make this a seperate post 'cus I had meant to ask this this week in the first place but got totally derailed...
Also do any other comic creators look back at their early strips to see how far they've come? Do you get a sense of shame at your old stuff or a sense of awe at the newer or both?
'Cus when I go back to the early few 'Out of World' strips I cry a little and wonder what I was thinking. :D
Tokkar Sep 19th 2010 12:40PM
Even though mine uses the in-game models, modified through digital manipulation, I do find that I have grown a lot in the 50-odd strips that I've done. I look back on the older work and am happy with what I've done (even though some of it made me wonder just what direction I was going with all of it), but I do see how much I've progressed in lighting/shadowing techniques, posing, positioning, even just in the way that it flows.
I really need to get back into hand-drawing (I'm incredibly rusty) and what better place is there than with my current character line-up? Hmm...maybe a side storyline once a week, if I may borrow Shawn's inspiration there...

Haha, I'm not a comic artist, but as a writer I know what you mean. I look back on some of my old work and I'm just all "Ugh, where did this come from?!"
Cadychan Sep 19th 2010 1:35PM
A thousand times yes. :/
Looking at the first/earlier WoW Eh's makes me weep like a child. It's just....UGH. GROSS. Gross bad nasty drawings that will be redrawn someday! >_< ha ha...

Well... I should hope I have improved, that's the best part about webcomics though. It's the ability to see progression of art and story by a person. Sometimes
I cry a little inside when I see a fellow webcomic creator remove their old archives or try to redo them. Okay, maybe not cry, but it is unfortunate when you can't embrace your ability to suck. :)
Mary Varn Sep 19th 2010 5:24PM
Yes, I totally relate to that! I just stare at some of my older comics and wonder what was I thinking. But the reason I started to the making comics in the first place was to keep busy creatively and improve, so at least I've been doing that!
Mary Varn Sep 19th 2010 5:26PM
"I started to the making comics" Ugh. Obviously I should focus more on improving my typing/proofreading skills. :)
Coffinshaker Sep 19th 2010 9:17PM
OMG YES! I just finished a print that I "revisited" from an old comic panel. And let me tell ya, it was depressing to see how well the new vs the old was! Uhg! Like night and day! I constantly fight myself to not just dig up all my old work to redo. XP
but I guess it's kinda nice to see how you, as an artist/writer have improved and grown. unfortunately for me, even though I think my art has improved greatly, my grammar and spelling has taken a turn for the worse... luckily I have a small army of editorial minions to help in that area. XD
great question!

I'm late to the party! thanks for the birthday wishes!
To be honest, I actually did consider for a while removing some of my older work because its bad in my opinion, but I feel another year down the line I'll think what I'm doing now is bad and by the end of the madness I'd have only 1 comic up.
Min_vaktra_drom Sep 20th 2010 4:49AM
Yep >< I definitely go back and see first Kuo comics and think. "This is public. Do I really want this public? HOLY CRAP THIS IS ON DISPLAY FOR OTHERS TO SEE"
But like the previous comments, you look at the latest and think "well... hey, I think I'm improving!" That's pretty priceless :)

Nerfnow has a WoW-related comic up this week.

Love it.
cycloneduke Sep 19th 2010 2:46PM
How are we meant to notify this column of this without using comments like this? Got an email or anything?
Vaeku Sep 19th 2010 4:09PM
You can always hit the "Contact Us" button and put it in there. Or post it to their Twitter/Facebook.
brothernature22 Sep 19th 2010 4:17PM
Ugh, been reading Manga all week and I just tried to read some of those comics backwards....
icepyro Sep 20th 2010 2:33AM
Just want to say that if you enjoy comics or any site you check regularly (read: at least once a week) and don't want to wade through your favorites everyday to think "what haven't I checked yet" then I strongly suggest the firefox addon "morning coffee". I love this list for a variety of reasons, but if it will make it easier to update, then by all means, keep up the good job. :)

I think there should be a link for "Safe Passage" in the Sunday Morning Funnies. The link in the gallery for Byron does point to it, but not a lot of people may figure that out.
