Breakfast Topic: Brewfest 2010 is here ... hic!
Yarrr! Brewfest 2010 be here, mateys!
/cough
Sorry, that was leftover from yesterday's Pirates' Day. Today begins one of the best holidays of the yar ... er, year. It's got beer and ram riding for beer and ram riding to deliver beer and the throwing of beer and a good old-fashioned dungeon run that is beer-related. There are quests, achievements and lots and lots of goodies, ranging from the supremely silly to the ultimate in usefulness. (Well, maybe not the ultimate. I just needed a "u" word to go with usefulness.)
Brewfest is a requirement for the meta achievement What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been, and Allison Robert has everything you need to know about that right here. Also, don't forget your Brew of the Month Club membership, because it doesn't carry over. So go visit the areas outside Ironforge or Orgrimmar and enjoy your completely safe, non-fattening, virtual beer binge.
<It came from the Blog> will be throwing a Brewfest party this weekend. Stay tuned here at WoW Insider for details.
What are you trying to get this year? Do you participate even if you have everything you want already? Is Brewfest your favorite in-game holiday?
Disclaimer: No alcoholic beverages, virtual or otherwise, were consumed in the writing of this post. Unfortunately.

This year Brewefest definitely is my favorite event because it is finish of my Long, Strange Trip, hooray!.. hic!

I just hope i can get a Dire Brew remote for my gnome engineer. I farmed in past years with no luck... so I'm really skeptical about my chances now that I can only do it once per day.
Schadenfreude Sep 20th 2010 11:40AM
Time to farm the mounts!
Also, no new stein. :((((((

What?! My Brew of the Month Club membership doesn't carry over from one year to the other? But that was the best part of logging in on the first of every month! Gah, guess I better go be productive for once and get drunk (only in WoW can those two ever go together).

Surprise?
Yup, it sucks it doesn't carry over.
What gets me is to get all piece of the clothes, the pet, the goggles, and the Pony Keg, you have to bust your ass, and it's basically impossible to get all of them unless you do the back and there again daily quest perfectly each time.
And, the barking quest, you can go to hell. I remember you the first year when it was literally 1-second impossible. If you deviated even the slightest second, lost one moment of speed, you weren't finishing it. You got back to the quest giver with seconds to spare. It's easier now, but still a pain in the ass, and I remember how much of a pain in the ass it was the first year.

Ya, it's annoying that the Brew of the Month club has to be refreshed, but it's so worth it. I love getting a new brew each month. The Goblin Binary and the Iceblock ones especially are a lot of fun.

I'm sho excited. I gotta shtart thish morning, jusht to make shure I get everything I need so I can get my handsh on the purple proto-drake. ...hic!

First: I'm going to get drunk.
Second: I'm gonna get more drunk.
Third: Try to not die on every boss in ICC
After that I may have a look around at the brewfest area. Maybe try to get the title too :)
Before donwrating just because the post actually started with "First", note that it's a list. Numbers up to twelve are written with letters :)
Gryph Sep 20th 2010 8:12AM
I now see I'm not first, no comments when I started :P
El Pollo Grande Sep 20th 2010 8:14AM
What can my alts get from Direbrew this year?
Nina Katarina Sep 20th 2010 8:36AM
it's still the ilvl 200 trinks
Pyromelter Sep 20th 2010 11:42AM
And there's a chance to get a 1 handed dps melee weapon in the bag. As well as a brewfest mount in the bag.

Unfortunately, it appears that the intern who was assigned to recolor a new Brewfest Stein for this year's Brewfest was suffering too much from a hangover to complete his work.
Hence, players who didn't do the quest last year will get the 2009 Green Brewfest Stein (and accompanying Feat of Strength) and players who already did the quest will not simply not see it as available.
Cale Sep 20th 2010 8:42AM
Oh no! I have a collection. The new stein was one of the things I was looking forward to this year.
I am a sad, sad dwarf. I'll have to...drown...my..sorrows in beer! That's it! Brewfest, ho!
Zef Sep 20th 2010 8:44AM
This is a problem for me because I got the stein last year but subsequently deleted it due to their being no feat of strength even weeks after the event. Now I have missed out on the feat of strength, because they introduced that months after the event, and I cannot redo the quest to get another stein.
Adoisin Sep 20th 2010 9:11AM
I understand they are busy with cataclysm looming and everything, but that is just plain lazy.
Moxxy Sep 20th 2010 9:16AM
I am also a little miffed at this. Was wondering where the quest was until I saw someone pop up a 2009 FOS. If it has to be green again this year, at least give it another FOS. I've kept all steins so far and would really like a 2010 one to fit on the bank shelf.
havitech Sep 20th 2010 9:18AM
Who knows, maybe this is just an oversight on their part (being occupied with Cataclysm and all) and they'll fix it before the event ends. They've done it before when there were problems with holiday-exclusive quests and items.
@Zef
Open a ticket, I'm sure Blizzard can do an item restoration.
Amaxe Sep 20th 2010 12:36PM
Hmm, I didn't know they added the achievement later. I'm in the same boat as Zef.
/sigh. It hardly seems worth putting in a ticket for a FoS of such a trivial thing however...
Elmo Sep 20th 2010 12:52PM
And I didn't get a feat for last year as I destroyed it somewhere in the last year because there was no feat D:
