Breakfast Topic: Predicting the future: Patch 5.0.1

Here at WoW Insider, we've put an incredible amount of cumulative effort into reporting what's going on both in the Cataclysm beta and on the PTR. We've already got that new-instruction-book smell flooding our nostrils. And quite frankly, we're a little exhausted. So instead of spending this morning reflecting on Cataclysm yet again, let's do something different. It's time to look to the future.
The future, Fox?
That's right, friends for life, it's time we all look into the future. All the way to the year 2000 ... and, um, 12. 2012. Cataclysm will be two years old. A new expansion -- or perhaps even a brand new World of Warcraft MMO -- will be upon us. We first started speculating on what would happen in patch
So, what do you think we're in for? What's going to be the theme of the next major expansion? Are we in for new races? (Come on, Ethereals!) Are we in for new classes? And most importantly, what horrifying quest will involve the two-year-old remains of Old Blanchy?

I'm working on an expansion idea where the Titans recruit a bunch of adventurers from Azeroth to assault the Legion directly on Argus, hopefully have it ready to post on the forums in the next couple days :)

I think I did this already. In God of War 3.

I think we'll see numerous questlines involving righting Azeroth to it's former glory after the invasion of Deathwing and all that has happened in Cataclysm. Like usual, new alliances may be formed, some possibly unheard of.
That, and Ghostcrawler will finally give is that moose pet for WoW's 7th Anniversary. =)

Gnomes will finally retake Gnomeregan, revamping the city to become the coolest, gadget-strewn engineering marvel Azeroth has ever seen.

Have to admit, I was pretty let down by the whole Gnomer event.

I want the New Gnomeregan to be a flying city, you can take a flight path there, or (with old world flying) just show up. The engineers saw Dalaran and got all inspired to do it with science.
Josin Sep 21st 2010 9:33AM
I think I love you.

I hear a new hero class calling. It says another unbalanced class that will be an attention hog and that you should not play it for the next two years so it will actually have its trees in order when you do.
Imnick Sep 21st 2010 8:19AM
Because Death knights are totallly imabalanced

Anyone want to start a betting pool on how many times Scourge Strike gets overhauled this expansion?
Feldoh Sep 21st 2010 8:14AM
There will be a cow level.

Thunder Bluff.
razion Sep 21st 2010 8:14AM
For some reason, I got the nagging feeling that, even after Cataclysm, we will not be done with the Naga, will we?
Nawaf Sep 21st 2010 8:55AM
Azshara isn't dead after Cataclysm you know.
MikeLive Sep 21st 2010 9:14AM
Unless Azshara becomes the boss of one of the content patches.
In before downvoting, I know Chilton said she wouldn't be part of the expansion, but I strongly believe that was just to mislead people and Nazjatar will indeed appear as a raid.
Nawaf Sep 21st 2010 10:21AM
nah, Azshara is too important for not being the major expansion boss.
