Eh, it's a fun cool feature for those who use it. It doesn't matter if it is useful or appealing to me because I am not involved with it. I like the idea, and I have had friends in guilds before that would be great to chat too! Some guilds don't exchange numbers- for varies reasons- so getting a hold of them would be a nice addition to someone who uses it. And since when was raiding the only guilds out there? =P I would love to discuss RP events and what-not with my guildies! Sitting at Starbucks and discussing RP business while I drink my latte sounds like an awesome idea. A lot of guild chat is just random fun anyways. Also, it only works if you are using the app i'm sure. Like the Facebook app, you can get alerts when you get a message or what not- but you can turn the alert option on or off. I am sure the guild chat would work the same. I do think it is dumb to make you pay monthly for the service. We already pay you monthly, Blizzard. >.> But a flat up front fee would be way better. (Though I don't use the AH much anyways) I wouldn't pay $15 for something I simply won't use.
