Event rules and tips
There are a few things you should know in order to make your event experience more enjoyable:
- There will be no raid group. We expect far more than 40 people to show up. You may form groups and raid groups as you like, but please do so outside of guild chat.
- No shouting except for me! Because guild chat is raid chat, I use all caps to be heard. Shouting is a gkickable offense.
- We are over 500! The guild roster bugs out in guilds that are larger than 500. My guess is that we have over 700 guildies. So if you are invited, don't expect to see your name show up in the roster or for the roster to show how many people are on. Also, /who only shows up to 49 people, so that's no good for these events either.
- Death knights take about two hours to get from spawn to Thrall's blessing. It may take you less, but please allow plenty of time before the event to make a DK (if that's how you wish to join us).
- You may want to turn down your graphics. Many people in one place = icky FPS for some.
- Summons are for sissies. There will be no official summons during the event. You are expected to get to the event on your own power, which should be really easy since it's outside of Orgrimmar.
- Please make a separate chat tab for guild chat. This will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and join in on the discussions.
- Instructions will be typed in guild chat; more detailed instructions will be given in the stream. I highly recommend you stream the event, even if you are only listening to the audio.
- Bring some cash. We don't have enough in our coffers for an open bar, and you may enjoy the event more if you have some cash on hand to buy food, drinks, etc.

If no severs are down during this event, I predict a fun time.

Have extra fun for those of us who are working on Sunday, or are otherwise unable to attend. I love Brewfest!

@Robin:
"Please make a separate chat channel for guild chat. This will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and join in on the discussions." This sounds a bit misleading. Should be "please make a separate chat tab or window". "Channel" sounds like a numbered /join channel.
Also just a thought, but would your shouting stand out a little more if it had a raid icon on it? Eg. start your lines with a skull or something? I imagine there might be an addon like Identity that could auto-insert it to the start of every line.

Gotta love Sam, always full of awesome ideas...

Fixed! And I will setup my new keyboard (!!!) with appropriate macros ... or get an addon.

Also, something they do for the WHU events are to turn off gchat for everyone except officers. Could also have a separate, temporary channel setup for all guildies to chat in. Just some other suggestions!

sigh... trying from a computer instead of my phone!
Something they do for WHU events is to turn off gchat for everyone except officers. Then we could always set up a separate, temporary chat for everyone if folks wanted. What I did during those events was still only watch gchat (where Frost and the officers were talking) to avoid any unnecessary chatter.
Just some other thoughts!

Sebastien, that's a great idea, but I love answering questions that come into guildchat. I'm afraid that guildchat and my chatting on the stream is already enough for me to juggle. A separate channel for questions and chatting would probably overwhelm me.
Also ... and this is important ... I really don't want to make big changes to what works for the majority of people all because we had issues in one event with a handful of people missing important instructions and it coinciding with my trying to go without repeating instructions for secrecy purposes. Since there is no secrecy this time (and won't be again) and since the instructions will be pretty clear by just following the pack, I think we'll be OK.

Separate channels usually don't go over well because so many people don't read the directions to begin with. Directing people to join a channel so they can follow directions will just get more people lost. It's already a pain getting people to listen in gchat or to listen to the Justin.tv stream for directions.
