The Queue: Adam Holisky is a liar edition
Hello ladies and gents. It's me, Mathew, your lovable addon and user interface columnist, filling in for The Queue! I've totally never done this before, so be gentle, please. Overlord Adam Holisky asked me to write this bad boy up while I was editing a Cataclysm video for you, so blame him when that takes a little big longer to do. Also, everything Adam Holisky says is a lie.
Adoisin asked:
Any idea if there are plans to fix the 2009 Green Brewfest Stein so it at least reads 2010?
Doesn't seem likely. Nephadne on the WoW Europe forums stated that there is no new Brewfest Stein for this year, and apparently there wasn't a plan for it. Personally, I am very sad, but my bank bags are very happy that they don't have to accommodate another souvenir.
Methuus asked:
What do you think the chances are that Blizzard might drop the cost of 280% flying, considering that 310% is the new big gold sink?
I don't think that this is going to happen any time soon. Blizzard has already reduced other flight speed bumps like Cold Weather Flying's cost and obtainable level, and flying speed in general was radically ramped up to 150 percent from its old 60 percent speed increase. I remember back in the day when epic flight was a monumental difference from regular flying; these days, not so much. I would imagine the ability to fly epically will remain one of those high-cost privileges, but seeing how much gold is being gained these days, the cost doesn't seem too high.
Uriah asked:
Does Coren Direbrew still drop the Remote and/or mounts? Or are these only obtainable in the once-a-day Keg-Shaped Treasure Chest through the LFD tool? In other words, would you be able to sit there and farm him all day for a chance at the remote/mounts?
Check out our Brewfest Guide for more information, but Coren Direbrew only drops the ilevel 200 trinkets on his corpse. The rest of the items are in the once-a-day bag.
Babar asked:
Does anyone know what will happen with the Deeprun Tram after Cataclysm hits? Will it be destoyed or get some problems? Could we ever see it from the outside (Vashj'ir)?
The Deeprun Tram is certainly still alive and operational after the cataclysm. You have to hand it to the gnomes -- they know how to build tunnels and machines that stand the test of molten death. Now you can continue to engage in seedy acts under seldom watchful eyes, the gentle rumble of the trams passing in the night ...
While Vashj'ir is sort of, technically, maybe, kind of near where the Deeprun Tram passes, I don't think you'll be seeing it anywhere from the outside looking in. Vashj'ir is off the coast of the Eastern Kingdoms, whereas the Deeprun Tram runs between Stormwind and Ironforge under a bay-like portion of the Great Sea.
Skyburnone asked:
What will be happening to Ashkandi, Greatsword of the Brotherhood, in Cataclysm?
Since Blackwing Lair is staying in as a raid, as evidenced by the achievement for doing a guild run of the place, I'd say Ashkandi will still be resting on the fresh corpse of the original Nefarian.
Ziilyn asked:
I know that people have asked a thousand times now, "When will Cataclysm be released?" and that isn't exactly my question. What I am wondering about is when will they announce a release date? Current speculation and rumor is pointing to an early November release; if that is the case, then shouldn't Blizzard be announcing it soon?
Let's look at the facts we have so far about Cataclysm's release. First, pre-orders for the Collector's Edition have already been officially announced and implemented. Second, we know they wouldn't release the expansion right before or during BlizzCon, since a lot of the Blizzard live team is going to be at the convention and you know there are unforeseeable problems on expansion launch day. Third, Wrath of the Lich King launched in November, and the release date was not known until Sept. 15, 2008, or so. So we could get a release date any day now. I still think it is safe to assume November, though.

Does anyone else always make sure their release predictions are written down somewhere public on the internet so they can point to them and feel awesome if they end up being right?
Or is that just me?
Masalar Sep 21st 2010 1:08PM
My prediction was a september release on my guild forum...I'd like to delete it from the internet >.>

I have no idea what you're talking about.
*cough* November 9th *cough*
Hmm? No, I didn't hear anything. Must have been a squirrel or something.

So far I was close about Sep 13. Instead of an official announcement, we got a guess from Boubouille at MMO-C.

OH MY ****ING GOD! You're completely forgiven for the post hijacking because that, my friend, is awesome!
Joker Sep 21st 2010 1:35PM
On or very close to Oct 31. An expansion with Werewolves and Goblins is very Halloween.

I have a calendar for the next 5 years. on each day of the calendar I wrote Cataclysm Release Date on pen and took a picture of it with a newspaper from the day that cataclysm was released. That way I can just choose the pic and prove everyone that I guessed it right from the start.
Now all jokes aside, I'm guessing that it's in the begining of November since it's the only time cleared of events for a while without geting it past Christmas.
Nodonn Sep 21st 2010 1:49PM
My guess is mid june 2010 and I'm standing by it.
I just didn't expect Blizzard's problems with premature ejaculation to be this big, they always let us dawdle for a looong time before an expansion.
Brett Porter Sep 21st 2010 1:52PM
They must have heard me cuz i said this is what it would take for me to buy the mobile armory. Awesome!
GI_Prophet Sep 21st 2010 2:56PM
Honestly I said November around the time Ulduar was coming out. I didn't know what year but I figured I had the month right. It's a good time to get the initial rush, then get a second rush for Christmas presents.

Just want to point out that it absolutely WILL NOT be November 9th by ANY chance WHATSOEVER. Why am I so confident? Because that, my friends, is the day the new Call of Duty comes out. Do you really think that Activision-Blizzard would both release their biggest game release of the year on the same day? It would hurt each others sales far too much.
Though, for that same reason, it will probably be in November some time. I'm sure they'll love to have the most successful month in gaming history, in terms of sales.

"It would hurt each others sales far too much."
...you honestly think the millions of people sitting at 80, chomping at the bit to get the chance to hit 85, are going to suddenly NOT buy the expansion EVER because CoD comes out on the same day?
...and you think that, given a choice between new WoW and new CoD that they'd buy CoD first?
edgeblade69 Sep 21st 2010 3:52PM
I still say the release date will be Nov 16th and I don't think they will announce it until Blizzcon. Why? No reason, just my opinion.
Amaxe Sep 21st 2010 4:46PM
@Pinteresque
I think it more probable that Activision doesn't want WoW to interfere with CoD
Jìnx Sep 21st 2010 6:06PM
I call the 17th of November. ;)
Ty Sep 21st 2010 6:55PM
The abomination that is call of duty will not interfere with the release of the game with one of the largest player base. MW2 killed the series with arrogance that no other game could compete with them. Weren't they proved wrong ;)

Hiya Cutaia - have you been posting more or have I been reading more?
G01851 Sep 21st 2010 1:05PM
Do we know if Cataclysm will be available as an online download/activation on release day, or do we need to purchase the physical copy in order to play immediately?
Task Sep 21st 2010 1:21PM
Since they did that with the SC2 launch, I'm guessing it'll be either the day of or a couple of days after.
