With Cataclysm crashing down on us soon like some kind of massive, world-changing event, it's important that we take the time to go back and enjoy some of the old-world flavor. (And I like saying "old-world flavor." Except I pronounce it flavah, as if I somehow have any cool or hip left in my balding pate.)
One of my favorite "remember the time" machinima is Wowcrendor's unforgettable Interactive Horde Onyxia Attunement Chain adventure. Not only is this trip down bad memory lane an enjoyable experience, but Wowcrendor's trademark humor pokes fun at our ability to wear the rosiest-colored glasses. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at machinima@wow.com.
i am totally lost here... is it alli only? what is the point of this video.... I usually really love wowcrendor's stuff but being a BC and later player this makes no sense at all to me
@Eros - that explains my confusion. I usually turn annotations off, though this video was so short I didn't see the point, but when I don't turn them off I usually just ignore them because most YouTube video annotations are pointless and/or advertisements. Some brief instructions in the intro would have been helpful. The length of the video actually made me think there was an error somewhere - that the whole thing didn't get loaded or something.
Classic Wowcrendor. Hits all the right notes, and really stresses how ridiculous this quest chain was. Going back and checking different options out was cool as well.
So really, I don't get the point of "attunement". Granted, this is my didn't-start-playing-until-after-Wrath-launched self talking. What was the purpose?
Basically, it was just to give the whole getting in there to kill the boss that more of an 'epic' feeling, that you went through all this just to get in there instead of just strolling in. Instead it just became a major pain and limited who could run any of the upper content because they didn't have the time/patience to go through the whole thing. Thankfully Blizzard stopped requiring them.
I thought I'd go stir crazy after having to run another guild member through the attunement. Guildies took to calling Marshall Windsor my boyfriend because I spent so much time with him.
I often wondered what the horde attunement was like. I can see, just as long and infuriating. But you guys didn't get to see Ony in the SW Keep. That was epic.
“You’re walking around for 4 hours but you can’t find him. I don’t think he’s here. It’s a trap, that’s what it is, it’s a trap. Thrall set me up. This is madness, madness I tell you. I’m going to die here. There’s nothing around me. I’m going to go CRAZY!”
You've not spent any amount of time in Desolace. XD
There are just too many hilarious moments in there for me to compliment them all. Crendor, you are a comic genius. :) The main thing I want to say is:
That has to take quite a bit of time to put together. His humor is always spot on. Taking the hunter no one likes cause he has the key and everyone dropping group when they get their portion complete. Good times.. wait no... not good at all. It was even more frustrating when they removed it. I DID ALL THAT FOR WHAT EXACTLY? /raaaaage

did you miss the part saying this was the HORDE chain?
Eros Sep 22nd 2010 12:30PM
Did you turn your annotations off? they take you through the rest of the videos. it plays out like the old choose your own adventure books.
taristo Sep 22nd 2010 12:34PM
that is where i htought the humor might come in.... if it was in fact a alli only quest... but it still feels lacking... idk

I thought the Alliance-side chain was bad. My hat's off to my Horde brothers and sisters for putting up with that shit.
And yes that vid brought the awesome.

Having done both sides of the attunement quest chain, I would have to say the Alliance is more epic, and more frustrating.

The voice of this guy reminds me of Trevor Moore from The Whitest Kids U' Know.

This is WIN with WINSAUCE!
If you've never felt like this:
