Please note that there is a known issue with this version of the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory preventing the application from automatically accessing your Mobile Authenticator code. We will be releasing a fix for this issue with the next update. In the meantime, we ask that you open the Battle.net Mobile Authenticator app and write down your code before logging in to the Mobile Armory app. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The noteworthy additions include:
- Every character profile now has a 3D model viewer similar to that on the Web version of the Armory. A character's 3D model is displayed with his or her equipped items and in-game physical appearance; you can rotate it, view animations, and more.
- A character's in-game activity (including item acquisitions, achievements, and boss kills), is now captured in an activity feed. You can display this feed by using the drop-down menu at the top of a character profile.
- Professions (both primary and secondary) are now displayed on character profiles and are accessed by the same character profile drop-down menu.

Man, the blues sure are busy today.

It is ridiculous that the mobile armory app and mobile auction house app haven't been developed for iPad yet. The higher resolution would be fantastic.
Daigeil Sep 23rd 2010 3:15PM
it is ridiculous that the iPad is so poorly though-out and hasn't been sold on yet. The higher cash pile would be fantastic.
Ringo Flinthammer Sep 23rd 2010 3:27PM
They sold more than 3 million iPads by June. Despite all the nerdrage, it's a sales hit.

@ Daigeil:
Whachoo talkin' 'bout Willis? The iPad is a wonderful piece of hardware, and I know A TON of people who have them. Also, my company has switched over a large portion of our mobile tech to iPads.

Raise a child with autism and then tell me the iPad is poorly thought out. It is a miracle machine for my family.

It's ridiculous that Blizzard have two apps that they can't make work together *facepalm*.

"Hey so I know there's already this thing called an iPod Touch, which is pretty cool. How about we make something that is exactly the same, except bigger? We could call it, like... the iPad! It's great, the consumers will love it! They always fall for gimmicks like this."
Hey Steve, I like your Macs and stuff, but seriously?
cmichaelcooper Sep 23rd 2010 5:47PM
@waycooler
I have no problem with that philosophy. Would you criticize a person for deciding that they don't want to play WoW on a 14" monitor anymore and upgrading to a 24" monitor because they can see better?

They sold a lot of pet rocks too, but that was probably before your time.
As I'm currently trying to make generic HTML 5 web apps actually run on these boat anchors (iPad), I'm still shocked as to how little you can do with them.
The first problem was really bad WiFi slowdowns and drop outs. The next was how filthy the thing is. Tilt an iPad to the light (but don't take it outside, you'll only see your reflection) and see how many layers of peoples fingerprint oils you have.
Next was Apple's inability to implement HTML 5 correctly. SInce I'm creating eLearning, audio/video synchronisation with text/graphics display is necessary, but Apple decided that they would prevent autoplay in the audio and video tags from working, based on some concern that people would be charged too much by video or audio autostarting. No matter that they chose to go to the web page anyway. Of course, there is a work around, but Apple will probably stuff that up too.
My next surprise was MP3 audios not returning proper events and looping endlessly (and no, loop was not specified in the HTML). Works fine on IE9, Chrome, Safari and the iPhone iOS 4, but not on the iPad (iOS 3). Lo and behold, if I convert the mp3 to itunes .m4a drm format, it works fine. We are currently doing weird work arounds using the few events fired when an mp3 file is used.
The lack of a full screen in the iPad browser is also a pain. I could go on, but the iPad is simply a jumbo iPhone without the actual phone or camera, but does have the stupid crowded desktop UI. It's toy browser is also useless for debugging, which makes the process take even longer.
The one thing you do notice is a complete lack of technical support. With Windows I have MS and millions of people around the world to consult with a few search terms in Google or Bing. WIth the iPad I have Apple (joke) and very few Mac technical forums. If I have a problem with IE or FIrefox or Chrome, there are lots of places I can research and it's almost guaranteed someone else had the problem and produced a way around it.
No wonder Steve forgot about Web apps... ;-)

@TonyMcS
As a web developer myself, primarily in the online video space, I sympathize with your frustration over HTML 5. But the iPad simply uses Safari 4 for it's web browser, not Safari 5, which is current on OS X if updated, and in iOS4, which the iPad hasn't been updated too yet. Safari also uses the webkit rendering engine, which is the same one that Chrome uses. So your complaint about HTML 5 support is a software issue, not a hardware issue, and will be remedied as soon as the iPad gets it's iOS4 update, which is coming soon.
Yes, the screen does get dirty. So clean it. Boo Hoo. No touch device will ever be immune to fingerprint oils unless we all start wearing gloves.
The iPad isn't perfect. No device is perfect. If you can point me to a perfect device, I will give you all of my worldly possessions, which aren't much. I'm a web developer, after all.
But when I'm laying in bed with my girlfriend and we want to look stuff up on the web, or play Flight Control or Civilization together. Or watch a netflix movie. Or if I need to get into Google Analytics and I don't want to drag a whole computer out, the iPad is a great compact device. My phone would be too small and a netbook/notebook is just unnecessary most of the time.
Darkdust Sep 23rd 2010 2:45PM
Great. Now if we could maybe get this on Android too... ;)
Brian Sep 23rd 2010 3:35PM
Yeah...how about an android app...i know there are hardly any around
Donhorn Sep 23rd 2010 3:49PM
Actually it is updated on Android, IDK why they don't mention that, but my roommate downloaded it last night on his Droid X and was playing around with it.
vanye111 Sep 23rd 2010 11:09PM
I just wish they made one for Windows Mobile :(
Zanaji Sep 24th 2010 2:04AM
The only armory app on android is privately made and maintained. It's not from Blizz, therefore it lacks some of the functionality of the iphone app, such as the guild calendar access.
I have it and I use it, because it's well made and better than nothing, but it's not the same.
clorox Sep 23rd 2010 3:06PM
The new 3d model viewer looks FANTASTIC. I also like that they finally added the iPhone 4 features, so we dont have to reload the app every time we switch applications.
Dave Sep 24th 2010 8:35AM
Shouldn't have linked that SC2 page, it has incorrect information on there.
The Ultralisk splash is not bugged, they removed the non-splash building attack. So now the Ultra is doing it's regular attack to buildings, which splashes for a range of(I think) 2+ the building radius.
It's working as intended.
Shiel Sep 23rd 2010 4:32PM
Just checked the Android Market...still no Mobile Armory app from Blizzard. :( There are, however, several third party, unofficial armory apps.
Kristen Sep 24th 2010 3:36AM
What are you talking about, I am using the Mobile Armory app on Android and it says it is developed by Blizzard Entertainment. If you are telling me this is not genuine, and that the app could potentially send out my account credentials, I will uninstall it asap!
