WTB a nerf to the fishing tournament. I don't care if it'll no longer award a title and doing it the old fashioned way becomes a feat of strength, its the last achievement I need for finishing the entire professions tab :(

If they made it a daily thing that would be amazing.

I do really see how they can "nerf" it. They added another whole chance per week on Sat (granted that one is almost all RNG). The one on Sunday buffing the "drop rate" won't make it easier, just it will end faster. If you are really having problems with it, get about 5-10 friends on Sunday and have them "fake" fish in the pools. Most people will ignore a node being fished, plus you will know exactly where the next closest node is.Honestly I like the fact that this particular achievement is equally as challenging no matter the level or what kind of gear or DPS you put out. There is a little bit of RNG with some actual strategy. It is an achievement that is a true achievement to have.

I'd also like if it was a daily competition. Right now it's really insane and the jackassery is infinite.

The tourny does take a bit of luck but it is possible to win it. I personally have won STV's twice (and get yelled at when ever I show up now) for the Fishing Pole and the Trinket. Like the previous poster has said though: Avoid pools already being fished. It isn't efficient enough to drop a line or two in a pool already being fished then have to re-mount and go find another one. Too much time is wasted. Move on down and find one that isn't being used. If there is a lot of competition (horde v alliance) then get some friends to start grieving the opposing faction while you concentrate on fishing. This can help a lot. Not much you can do about your own faction other than keep moving and hope that the RNG gods show a little mercy to you while being cruel to them.

...or just toss EZ-Throw Dynamite at everyone else's pools.
