Breakfast Topic: Do you own any WoW peripherals?

One of my friends struck it rich at a really young age. He grew up fairly poor and suddenly came into a large amount of money, and he now spends it on infinite amounts of frivolous items. He actually owns a Slap Chop, George Foreman Grill and some ShamWoWs. He also buys many of the WoW peripherals. Not only did he buy the sparkle pony and about every pet that WoW has put out, he also buys the actual gaming items. He has the Tap Chat, the wireless WoW headset, even the Wrath keyboard and Blizzard MMO gaming mouse.
Personally, the only peripheral I've bought from Blizzard is an authenticator, which netted me the cute little core hound pet. However, the sense of security that my seven 80s won't be cleaned out while my account is used to spam trade for some gold selling site is the real reason I picked it up. I have a Logitech mouse and headset -- nothing super fancy, but they work just fine for me, and I paid less than one piece's worth of the Blizzard direct WoW paraphernalia. My girlfriend was going to buy me the WoW headset for my birthday, but I told her to save her money and get me a game card, as opposed to dropping over $100 on a headset. I told her if I were going to spend that kind of money on something for my computer, it would be to update pieces of the hardware, like a better graphics card or a new processor.
In the end, the decision whether or not to buy something comes down to the consumer, so I leave it to you, the WoW gaming public: Do you own any of the gaming peripherals for WoW? If so, do they actually help make you a better player? If you feel they actually aid your gaming experience, can you provide some examples or testimonials as to why?

All those comments about the buttons and binding and no one mentioned how it feels to use? This is an injustice! I bought my Naga tried it out at work as a normal work mouse. In about ten seconds I was hooked. It doesn't feel like using a mouse; it's an extension of your will. It slides damn near effortlessly. It feels GOOD in your hand.
It takes a little while to get used to the naga's side buttons. That's to be expected. It took me a couple of days to get the hang of hitting some stuff. And I still only use six regularly, and the next row of three occasionally. The fourth row, I don't use at all.
The only bad thing about the Naga is the two extra buttons next to the left mouse button. They're poorly placed for *anything*

Razer Nage is absolutely awesome. It so changed the way I played, it is so much more comfortable in every aspect!

This is a few days old but I can't let this slide without a single negative review.
I bought a Naga and tried my hardest for 3 days to get used to it. PvE, PVP, Whacking a dummy for hours... I just couldn't do it. I used the trainer pieces (little bits of rubber you can stick to some keys to make finding them easier) but I just couldn't get my thumb to properly contour to the thing. It felt too light and offered little resistance against my thumbs own force, meaning that pressing a side button actually caused me to move my mouse to the right a little bit. Turning, navigating your mouse on your screen, and also thumbing the massive keypad on it proved to be too much for me. I play a feral druid and I easily bound every button on the damn thing (including shift modifiers). Maybe this had something to do with it.. maybe not. I tried hard to love it (and I even convinced myself at first that I did love it as to justify the 100$ i spent on it) but ended up returning it to Best Buy that week and buying a basic mouse with a right and left side button.
The good part - it was incredibly smooth and made me realize the massive difference a good mouse makes in terms of FPS while on the move.

I have the Creative WoW wireless headset and I love it.

I also have the headset and I'm a big fan of it for it's cool factor. It is essentially only a WoW tool though, its not so great for music and other games.
(sneaky self-promotion: I wrote a review of the headset on my blog a little while ago, see here: http://bit.ly/9Pu8Kp )

I use the Creative WoW headset too, i like that it has a very good mic, which is awesome when you have to be in soo many online meetings and use Asterix softphones soo much like me.
I also use it when gaming, but its more of a cool i like it, than an edge over other stuff.
I like that is quite practical, because if you just want to hear some music, you can detach the microphone, if you want to move around the house, or go pick some cookies, while someone is talking on vent ..well its wireless so no problem there, you are close to the computer and dont mind the cable, you can just plug it in and charge it.
So, I think its a very good item to have, in fact many coworkers started buying theirs, and they are not even WoW fans or players, but its just so practical and cool that its worth the money.

I don't own any WoW periphals other than the mobile authenticator. I'm not a raider so I don't really need headsets or fancy mice. Unlike the authors friend I'm not exactly rich right now, so my first gaming upgrade will be to get a PC with over 1GB of RAM :)

ive owned 2 of the steelseris wow mouse. its the best mouse for all the games i play!!
Jorges Sep 24th 2010 10:48AM
I second this. I own a Steel Series WoW Gaming mouse. It's a fairly big mouse, but perfect for me. It has all its 15 buttons where they should be, a very long and resistent cable, customizable lights and pulse effects and you don't need anything else to use it with WOW: it is automatically detected by the game :D

I've had this mouse twice as well, but wasn't all that satisfied with it, at a month it began decolorating to an ugly green.
Then the lamp stopped working so i got it warranty replaced, and the same thing of the decoloration started happening to the second one, so i decided to wrap it up and put it with my collectors edition boxes and bought a naga.
I'm more happy with the naga as the hard use mouse and the wow mouse as display now :)

I own a logitech g15 keyboard and a razer naga mouse. The mouse has actually increased my dps I use to be a clicker but with the mouse I'm not any more

I thought the Tap Chat pedal they were advertising a while back was pretty cool, so I found a generic version of it for a lot cheaper and picked it up... turns out it was the exact same device, minus the logo sticker. Does that count?

Would you mind linking what you found? I know myself and others were interested.

There are actually quite a few footswitch options out there. Even some 2 and 3 pedal models. Just Google USB foot switch is a good start.

Thank you so much Nick, I've been wanting to get a peddle for a long time.
How can you go wrong for $14?
Sicadastra Sep 24th 2010 8:11AM
I don't own any WoW branded accessories, but I can't imagine playing without my Belkin n52te. I've considered adding a Naga a few times as well.
Speedmonkay Sep 24th 2010 11:04AM
I play with a Belkin n52te and a Razer Naga. Its very nice to not have to touch the keyboard at all (except for the occassional chatting).
Homtron Sep 24th 2010 11:07AM
ndeed, the Belkin n52e is a GREAT piece of hardware and helped me make my gameplay much more efficient, less tiring (button spamming is a thing of the past w/ "repeat while pressing" function.) plus, my interface is now made with this gadget in mind so im not sure i could play w/o it anymore....Great buy imho, I thought about adding a razer naga over that, but it'd be overkill and the repeat function sells the Belkin to me more than the naga.
Uberchcken Sep 24th 2010 4:25PM
N52te was weird at first, but I agree that it seems way more difficult to use the keyboard now. If you toy with it just right, you can put all 104 keys on it.
