The Queue: Kittris

What, Mat thinks he can just post cat pictures in The Queue and not expect retribution? Everyone knows that the only cuter than cats is small cats, or "kittens," in the vernacular. And I have four small cats right now. You can see them above, possibly forming Voltron, or possibly playing Tetris with their bodies.
Sicadastra asked:
Simple question: Do the passenger flying mounts require that the passenger have the appropriate flying skill as well? I assume not, just curious.
Nope, just like someone without normal riding skill can hop on a Nether-Rocket or a Traveler's Tundra Mammoth.
Juanin asked:
Will personal achievements obtained before the release of Cataclysm count towards guild experience?
No, and neither will the personal achievements you get after the release of Cataclysm.
Haimdall asked:
Any word on the rumors that we'll be able to use the old worgen faces when we create them? If not, have any more passive faces for the new models been implemented?
Additionally, I remember hearing about level 50 class quests with unique rewards. Have those been discovered, or was the idea scrapped?
If by "the old worgen faces" you mean the anime lion faces, then no, you won't be able to use them. Like it or not, worgen have received a ferocity pass, and it looks like it's here to stay. There are a few faces available that are slightly less rageful than the yellow-eyed face that's seen on nearly every worgen screenshot, though the face geometry remains the same.
The level 20 and level 50 quests for each class are indeed implemented. They send you into a dungeon (it looks like SFK and BRD, respectively) to complete a specific task, and you get a blue reward for it -- for your choice of spec. Pretty neat.
Bookhouse88 asked:
Any news yet on all the new quests that are being added to Deadwind Pass in Cataclysm?
I'm not aware of any changes to Deadwind Pass so far. At this point I don't anticipate any, given the small nature of the zone and the lack of real story there unrelated to Karazhan.

They wouldn't lose the Intellect cause that's not a stat that's going away. MP5, on the other hand?
Basically, it's currently slated to change from this:
http://www.wowhead.com/item=48683
To this:
http://cata.wowhead.com/item=48683
Should be able to do the same thing with any other item I think. Find it on wowhead, then change www. to cata. and you're good. But remember...no change is final until Cata is officially released.
(cutaia) Sep 24th 2010 5:51PM
Hmm...you said enh shammies, didn't you?
So, for those heirlooms:
http://www.wowhead.com/item=48677
to
http://cata.wowhead.com/item=48677
So, it looks like that intellect does go away, but hunters are switching to focus anyway, so that'll work for them. Don't know if enh shammies want intellect or not, but if so, it's probably won't be a big deal if your chest and shoulders don't have it.
Jeeru Sep 24th 2010 6:03PM
Enh is going to be designed for reliance on no intellect on their gear from now on. So more likely than not they won't want any mail int gear, and if they do the developers will probably squash it.
I haven't read any instances of people trying it out, so it must be working as intended for the gear itemization.
Amaxe Sep 24th 2010 6:20PM
Hmm, as intellect drops it will be harder to portray my enhancement draenei as being an intellectual character ;-)
Amaxe before: The issue of war predominantly deals with the atrocities of the Forsaken and the refusal of the other Horde factions to condemn the evil done by the Forsaken.
Amaxe after: AAARRGGH! Amaxe smash puny Horde!

"I haven't read any instances of people trying it out, so it must be working as intended for the gear itemization. "
The main reason to get int gear would be for the spellpower. If the spell damage boost was worth it, people would try it. But currently the enhance basic skill of Mental Quickness puts the kabosh on that because I think it's 50% of the agility is converted to Spellpower.
While int gets you mana, spellpower and spell crit, agility mail gives AP, crit and SP. 2 of the int mail stats are really useful, all three of the agility mail are.

Queue Question!
What's the deal with class-specific landmark quests? Such as the shaman totem and the druid form (although only the bear quest is required now). I'm leveling up a Tauren elemental shaman now and I was reminded at how painful the totem quests are. I know that at least the Horde air totem quest will have to be changed because it ends in Thousand Needles.
Brett Porter Sep 24th 2010 6:01PM
Those types of quests, such as getting new demons, new forms and new totems no longer exist. You simply learn them at the trainer at the right time now.
icepyro Sep 24th 2010 6:48PM
Which is ironic considering the air totem quest was shortened to end in Thousand Needles anyways...
Wait, what? Going away completely? This makes me sad. I did not enjoy going all over the world to do quests, but the spirit of them where you did have to go meet elementals and whatnot was awesome. Going to your trainer and they going "oh here, have a totem" is a bit disappointing compared to earning it.

I got a response to this yesterday, but I'd like to see what the queue has to say, or any others for that matter.
I have the option of staying in a hotel by blizzcon or going to a friends house 15 mins away. Am i missing out by not staying close to the convention center? What happens after blizzcon closes it's doors on each night?
(cutaia) Sep 24th 2010 5:54PM
I'd stay with the friend. Even if you hit up the parties after Blizzcon doors shut, you can always get a taxi at the end of the night.

Has the issue preventing worgen and goblin death knights from leaving the starting area (lack of a race-specific NPC in the quest "A Special Surprise") been fixed yet in the beta?
Jass Sep 24th 2010 5:52PM
When you say Traveler's Tundra Mammoth, you mean Grand Black War Mammoth.
(cutaia) Sep 24th 2010 5:57PM
Except he doesn't. Can you *also* give a ride on the Grand Black War Mammoth? Sure. But you seem to be under the impression that the same isn't true for the Traveler's Tundra.

Well, in light of the recent coverage of how WoW is doing in China...
I'm sure this has been asked before at some point in time, but what's the deal with WoW in Japan? Last time I was here, it was largely unknown to the folks, and games like Monster Hunter and FF XI was the biggest MMO there. Is there like a trade agreement between Blizz and the Japanese government or something? Or is that something Blizz hasn't really bothered with?
I mean, considering the decent popularity of Net-Games (What they typically call MMOs there), I'm surprised they haven't tried translating any of it to Japanese.
Cataca Sep 25th 2010 12:18PM
Japan has some odd regulation rules. Besides all the graphical changes they require to meet standards that wont offend their public (like bones and skulls) their government tries hard to support Japanese companies before international companies. (This helps their economic health) All outside companies are required to have some sort of Japanese third party to handle their business. For blizzard, that company was Netease. And even then that third party has to jump through all kinds of hoops.
Monster Hunter and FF XI, I believe, are both Japanese based games so they don't have to do all the extra stuff to get it released and have better promotion there than in the US so they understandably more popular than WoW.
SR Sep 25th 2010 7:17PM
But that's the thing: The only thing that Japan's really been censoring is stuff like FallOut 3's "Rig-the-Nuke" event, and Japan's a LOT more lenient on occult and skulls. Only real reason I see from it is perhaps the government trying to limit Western games in general.

Does anyone in beta have an idea what the upcoming system requirements for Cataclysm will be?
Ornuk Sep 24th 2010 6:01PM
Question for the queue: For most new zones we've heard what the intro quests are, apart from Hyjal, unless I've missed it all this time. Is there a special intro quest to Hyjal like there is for Vashj'ir, Uldum etc, or is it simply "Go there and pick up first quest"?
