The Queue: Saturday, what a day

Those were some adorable kittens Sacco posted, huh? Yay, it's Saturday! After this Queue I'm going to one of my favorite places for lunch, and I am eagerly awaiting some delicious spicy orange chicken lunch special. Mmmmm ... Stay on task, Mat! Stay on target!
Achnos asked:
As a newly transferred Alliance, what should I go see in the world? I'd like to experience the Alliance side a bit more, since I've been mostly Horde through these almost six years of WoW. Any quests, places, etc.?
In vanilla WoW, Alliance players swear by Duskwood (which rocks) as well as the Nathanos Blightcaller quest line. Portions of the Onyxia chain are also still around, and that whole adventure is completely awesome, filled with great lore and awesome events. I know a good amount of it is gone, but what's there is probably still fun.
As for Alliance content in the expansions, Northrend is one giant Alliance love-fest. Seriously, it's awesome. You get awesome lore about the humans, spectacular characters like Thassarian, and a host of cool quests. Experiencing Northrend as an Alliance character is pure joy.
Ornuk asked:
Question for The Queue: For most new zones, we've heard what the intro quests are, apart from Hyjal, unless I've missed it all this time. Is there a special intro quest to Hyjal like there is for Vashj'ir, Uldum etc., or is it simply, "Go there and pick up first quest"?
Hyjal's beginning quest starts you in Moonglade, where you are given instructions to fly on the back of a green drake to Ysera in Hyjal to prevent the summoning of Ragnaros and Deathwing's nefarious plans. While flying there, however, you find out that you're too late, and the Firelord's invasion has already begun. You witness Ragnaros' summoning and make it to Nordrassil to begin fighting back the elementals.
Haden asked:
What's the best place to get a Cataclysm Collector's Edition on release night? Should I wait in line or pre-order one? If I pre-order, where from? Would it maybe be better to just play it safe and pre-order one from something like Amazon.com? How many Collector's Editions do Gamestop, Target and Walmart get?
That's the beauty of pre-orders -- the stores usually get the number of copies that are pre-ordered. I never really worked for Gamestop, but I'm sure some commenters have and can give detailed information on how the pre-ordering works. Suffice it to say, I've never had a problem picking up a pre-order from Gamestop when I had successfully pre-ordered in time.
As for release-night collector's editions, I would find the most out-of-the-way, hidden big box store like Walmart or Target, because those stores have shelves of collector's editions available on release. Usually. Potentially. That's your best bet, really. Otherwise, if pre-orders are still going around, that will be your surefire way of getting the collector's edition at your local store. Amazon pre-orders will most likely get to your house on release day, unless otherwise noted, but not at the midnight launch.
Trever asked:
If tauren can be both druid and shaman, why not the night elves? I've said for a long time that it would be awesome if they could.
Tauren have a connection to both Mu'sha (Elune) and their Earthmother, two different types of faith that allow them to practice both the druidic arts and the shamanistic bond with the elements. Night elves, on the other hand, do not have the same belief system in the ancestors, spirits of the elements themselves and other shamanistic tendencies, and instead are "children of Elune," worshiping nature but not necessarily the spirits or the elements. That's the short lore explanation. Browse through some of our excellent Know Your Lore articles for a deeper explanation.
transrelativity asked:
Will completing "What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been" confer 310% flight after Cataclysm, or should I just give up now?
Most likely, yes.

Mathew is his name.
Mat is the shortened version.
And it all works out.
Nice, huh?
JiBJUB Sep 25th 2010 5:46PM
But, but, but...there's still only one "t" in Mathew.
Dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.

Hey there, I was wondering if blizzard was gonna make new servers. I know with wrath they release Grizzly Hills and Fitzcrank(?). Now I know that they are not gonna allow servers to have the closed gates because of the Grizzly Hills fiasco, BUT are they gonna make a new server where everyone starts from lvl 1 with a no transfers for like 3-6 months? I do love rerolling on fresh servers with no economy.
MikeLive Sep 25th 2010 7:09PM
Not anytime soon. This has been asked multiple times on the forums in the past little while, and the answer is always no. There are far too many underpopulated servers as it is, they want to fix that up before making more underpopulated servers.

On the PTR, some of the new spells like a druid's Solar Beam have pretty terrible spell graphics. The aforementioned Solar Beam is that same beam of light from the Lunar Festival, for example. Any news on whether those may be updated to not be so ugly?

Hello, I have question that has been in my head since Cataclysm was announced.
If in Cataclysm, the Lich King will be dead, What will happen to all the questlines, to all the lore in Northrend, to Bolvar, to Icecrown Citadel, to the Knights of the Ebon Blade, to the Vrykul, etc. Is it going to be a new ICC in the Cavers of Time or we will fight Bolvar (which it would be strange cus he has just been fronzed).
Thank you, and congratulatios with the great webpage and the excelent podcast!
Tri Sep 25th 2010 6:29PM
When you travel to Northrend, you actually go back in time and will still have to fight the Lich King (Arthas).
Same about Outland and Illidan + others...

Any idea if The Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftains will power-level themselves to level 85? Also, will they add a goblin to their roster to reflect that new race?
Artificial Sep 26th 2010 7:09AM
Well, the current name of the band is TAFKAL80ETC (The Artists Formerly Known as Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain), which does not require any kind of updating when the level cap bumps up, since it implies nothing about their current level.

Haven't seen this so far since it's an obscure question. In cata, does Mei Francis still sell the Wooly Mammoth? It's currently for sale for 200 emblems of heroism but I don't know what will happen when the currency change comes. Want to know if I need to get it now or not. Anyone got any ideas? Ta.
WastedFire Sep 25th 2010 7:45PM
She is still there, and now sells coffee too for some reason.
I would get it now though, the mount sells for Justice Points instead of Hero emblems, and from my experience Justice Points are really inflated compared to there old value. I think the mount is something like 2k Justice points. I forgot the conversion but i don't think they are giving you 10 JP for each Triumph badge.
Aurilia Sep 25th 2010 9:45PM
Currently on the PTR Mei Francis is selling the Reigns of the Wooly Mammoth for 2175 Justice Points.
A Heroic AN run rewarded a total of 47 Justice points, or just shy of 16 per boss.

Any word on Worgen/Goblin rep grinds? Time to begin Runecloth farming?

"Saturday is alright for fighting....Saturday. Saturday. Saturday...."
Saturday has been my favorite day ever since I was about 8 years old. Now I am really going to date myself here (not like take myself out for pizza and beer-although...) but when I was growing up there was this Show on TV with the Bay City Rollers and they had a song, "S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y" sing it if you know it, "S-S-S Saturday ni-ight". So, special things always happen on Saturday :) No questions, no kittens. Just that. Now back to that pizza and beer...

Hi. My question is regarding Guild Achievements:
On my feral druid, I have been soloing MC for fun/profit, and have gotten some of the parts to make Thunderfury. Now, being a druid, and therefore unable to equip swords, I am aware that I would be unable to receive the Feat of Strength for crafting it. I have confirmed this with a GM on my server.
However, what I am wondering is, despite the Feat of Strength - if I craft it, will it count toward my guild having the legendary, RE: We are Legendary(etc) achievs?
Boobah Sep 26th 2010 3:04AM
Well, the guild achievement for Thunderfury reads the same as the adjusted one for characters; specifically, that it's awarded to a wielder of the blade. So, as a druid, you almost certainly can't get the Thunderfury achievement for your guild.

Do we have list of hunter pets that will be deleted after Cataclysm yet?
Killik Sep 26th 2010 6:30AM
I haven't seen a list, but pet specialist site Mania's Arcania is doing a safari of Cataclysm zones and noting changes:

Hey Matt! Long time reader, first time questioner!
I have officially begun Kyle Watch! With the coming of the new Azeroth, I was curious if we've gotten any word from the blues if the various make a wish's and memorials would remain after the sundering. It would be a shame if the game, with such a rich history of recognizing the memories of the players and creators, were to lose these small touches. Having them in there is one of the major factors of my continual play. It made Blizzard awesome.
