Cataclysm Beta: Worgen emotes and back flip video
Worgen have recently gotten a little bit of an upgrade in the Cataclysm beta. All of their voice emotes now have appropriate sounds to go along with them, and some of their emotes have new animations. Also, like the night elves, worgen now do a flip randomly while jumping. This is, however, a back flip -- and it looks pretty cool. The video above contains a complete catalog of all the available emotes and audio and shows off the new worgen back flip. You also get a chance to see the male worgen dance in action if you've missed it before -- and it is all done with a spiffy top hat to add that little touch of class.
Female worgen have yet to be fully implemented in the beta, so we will just have to wait to see if they get any special emotes or animations to go along with them.
Be sure to have your speakers turned up a bit, the sound came out a little soft.

I gotta say, though I'm a big fan of the random Night Elf flip, this one looks... kinda lame, and reeeally forced.
Aaron Sep 27th 2010 2:27PM
Yeah it looks a little weird. That roar, however, is AWESOME!
Dreyja Sep 27th 2010 2:28PM
Yeah, I wanted it to be awesome but I'm really not sure why you'd back-flip as you move forward the momentum isn't really right. I'm torn though. I want them to have something awesome like this. blargh. lol

It's called a "gainer".

"I'm really not sure why you'd back-flip as you move forward the momentum isn't really right."
Actually as a pro wrestling fan I see back-flips with forward momentum all the time, it's an incredibly common high-flier wrestling move called a "Moonsault". Kind of appropriate for Worgen if you make the moon connection). Look it up on YouTube sometime, it's still a really cool move to see despite how common it is.
Moonsaults are usually preformed from the top rope, but their is a standing variation similar to what we see the Worgen doing here.

Well, cool. I learned something new today. Thanks. :)

Actually, while I haven't watched the video, a backflip with forward momentum is a shooting star press in wrestling terms.

I'm very surprised to see my comment upvoted, because I made a mistake in it.
A forward momentum back-flip is not a Moonsault, but a Shooting Star Press as omedon666 said. A Moonsault is a standard back-flip onto your opponent (although countless variations exist). I realized my mistake a few minutes later, but by then I was already half way to work and couldn't make another post to correct myself (damn 10 hour shifts).
Thanks for the correction omedon, and a nice example with the Evan Bourne video.
While we're giving examples, here's one with Billy Kidman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBj2vgBL9YA
And here's a standing Shooting Star Press from John Morrison, which is the most similar to the Worgen flip except the Worgen land on their feet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzHpR8zFQZ4
And here's a little trivia: the Shooting Star Press is considered to be one of the most dangerous moves in wrestling because if the move misses it has a high chance of breaking the user's neck.
In fact, the Shooting Star Press is on a short list of moves that are technically banned in most wrestling companies including WWE (Note: the standing variation is not banned because it doesn't produce the same velocity and therefor isn't as dangerous). I say "technically" because WWE will sometimes give certain wrestlers permission to use a banned move if they can show that they are skilled enough to preform them without causing injury.
Currently, three moves are banned in WWE. And oddly enough, all three have at least one excepted performer on the current roster that is allowed to use it. They are: the Shooting Star Press (exception- Evan Bourne), the 450 Splash (exception- Justin Gabriel), and the Piledriver (exceptions- Kane and The Undertaker; Both use the Tombstone Piledriver variation).

Just to remember, Blood Elves do a horizontal flip sometimes when they jump, waaay cooler than the Nelf flip.
And the Worgen one is preety nice. :)

"Just to remember, Blood Elves do a horizontal flip sometimes when they jump, waaay cooler than the Nelf flip."
Keep telling yourself that mate :)
Dreyja Sep 27th 2010 4:18PM
lol, to each their own but "cool" is not what I think when I see that move. ;-p
(cutaia) Sep 27th 2010 4:34PM
Although, you guys gotta admit..."horizontal flip" is a pretty manly way of describing a pirouette.
Artificial Sep 27th 2010 6:12PM
Yeah, I was going to say, what the sin'dorei women do is called a "pirouette". And as cutaia implies, it's nowhere near as manly as the flips night elf women do, which is appropriate, considering blood elf females are nowhere near as manly as night elf females.
Draelan Sep 27th 2010 6:18PM
I don't mind the spin, but my male pally looks like a fruit cake when he jumps and doesn't spin. It just makes their jump animation look awkward imo. *shrug*

Undead female special melee animation is leaps and bounds ahead of any other leap or bound.
Ed Ross Sep 27th 2010 2:30PM
Perhaps. Belf, Goblins and Tauren are not feroucious by any means. In fact, Tauren is the most noble race in the game. >The< most noble, I'm telling!
