Cataclysm Beta: Worgen emotes and back flip video
Worgen have recently gotten a little bit of an upgrade in the Cataclysm beta. All of their voice emotes now have appropriate sounds to go along with them, and some of their emotes have new animations. Also, like the night elves, worgen now do a flip randomly while jumping. This is, however, a back flip -- and it looks pretty cool. The video above contains a complete catalog of all the available emotes and audio and shows off the new worgen back flip. You also get a chance to see the male worgen dance in action if you've missed it before -- and it is all done with a spiffy top hat to add that little touch of class.
Female worgen have yet to be fully implemented in the beta, so we will just have to wait to see if they get any special emotes or animations to go along with them.
Be sure to have your speakers turned up a bit, the sound came out a little soft.

Stupid me. The comment above was to be a reply to darknautilus' comment.

The hairy palms thing had me...howling.
Hasselhoff Sep 27th 2010 2:34PM
I just wanted to apologize for the "howling" pun. I've taken a long, hard look at my life and I feel that I owe you all an apology.

it's ok, mate. we all realized you were barking up the wrong tree, but didn't want to put a leash on your creativity.
Wulfhound Sep 27th 2010 3:10PM
Yeah, but you named yourself Hasselhoff, so little is expected.
brian Sep 27th 2010 4:07PM
The best two-emote combo is at 4:00 though.
"I just don't feel that I really know a person until I've sniffed their crotch."
"You have my gratitude."

I named my cat Hasselhoff...and the other cat Sassafras. Hass 'n Sass (and no, I totally didn't plan that). Anyway, the wife and I made our first characters named after them.
Now, why I named my cat Hasselhoff is another story. When I make that story up, I will tell you all.

Dunno about you guys, but if I said "The beast in me hungers" when I greeted someone, I think they'd be pretty creeped out...
That WAS the greeting, am I right?
Dreyja Sep 27th 2010 2:46PM
I think that's the point. XD
Anathemys Sep 27th 2010 5:20PM
I know, it's basically telling people you might try and eat them.
But hey, I guess it's like yelling "fore" in golf, you CAN say you warned them...
CDave Sep 27th 2010 2:42PM
C'mon Blizzard, make them do a barrel roll. I'll faction change all of my toons for that.

Man, could the male Worgen be any cooler? I love that the /no emote is "denied." Lol, that rocks. The emotes are really well done, both the regular and voice ones. I just can't get over the model, though. I mean, truth be told, I'd be really happy if there was an option for the old models and new ones, so that both groups of people could be happy. But, I do really love this more savage look, compared to the previous models. I just think that the design and artists did an exquisite job at making the male Worgen look really beastly and feral, while still appealing and playable. I'm so tempted to play a male, but it's really hard for me to play anything but female toons, unless we're talking about Gnomes. 'Cause, male gnomes are beyond precious. :3
I just truly hope that the designers will eventually get the female Worgen up to par with the male. I want the females to be equally as beastly looking, while still remaining appealing. I don't need to be pretty, by any means. But, I'd like them to look as good as the male Worgen, while still looking tough and beastly. And, I'm absolutely positive it's possible, but it's just about tweaking and really listening to the players. I hope so much that they'll continue to tweak the females, until they get them just right. Right now, I just can't get on board with the female's eyes, upturned and disproportionate snout, mane, or larger chest. I'd love for them to be more lithe looking. I think their bodies should be lean and long, like a wolf. And, so that sort of rules out huge and busty chests. I don't need them to be flat chested, but I just think they'd look more appropriate if they were smaller chested.
Also, their eyes just definitely need tweaking. I actually didn't hate the alpha model's eyes. But, they were definitely very feminine. So, I wouldn't be opposed to them being toned down, but I did love the color of the alpha model's eyes and the pupils more.
The snout definitely needs work, as well. It's got this odd scoop to it and it's not proportioned properly.
And, the mane just needs some tweaking, as well. I would actually like if both male and female Worgen were offered colors in manes. Like, different shades of gray, black, dark blue, white, and brown. I just think the female mane needs a bit of polish. The male one looks incredible.
I just can't get over how much the female Worgen currently reminds me of a rabid hyena. It very very much resembles one of the hyenas from the Lion King Disney movie, to me. I know that it's being worked on, though and with how well the male model turned out, I have high hopes for the females.
Dreyja Sep 27th 2010 2:51PM
I hope that a lot of work is still being done on the females as well. This is the toon I'm MOST looking forward to. I mean this is the first NON dwarf I can commit to and I really want her not to look like a demonic chihuahua. XD

I just updated my beta, and Fac-swapped my Premade hunter.
Female worgen now have an "Ears" option instead of "Facial Hair", and the face appearance *WAS* changed! They made the eyes half-lidded, like the example picture I created last week. It looks much MUCH better.
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j102/wraien/new-worgen-female.jpg got resized by Photobucket, but shows the Ears option.
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j102/wraien/worgen-female-closeup.jpg is a closeup showing the new eyes.

@Dreyja - Lol, I completely agree. And, I love Dwarves, too! I can't wait until Cataclysm, so I can make my very own Dwarf Shaman maiden. I'm really looking forward to making a Worgen, too, though and I'll be so crestfallen if the female Worgen don't end up looking as awesome as the males. Make 'em tough and savage, but make them appealing, too. That's the key. They found the perfect balance with the males, now all they have to do is really listen to the community and do the same thing with the females.
@Shrike - So glad to hear that they have an ears option, now! And, that's awesome that it's been updated. So glad that they're attempting to correct the eyes and other things that people are bothered by. When people create examples pictures like the one you made, that really makes a difference, I think. Because, I think putting effort into something like that really goes to show the designers that a lot of players are really dedicated to helping these models turn out well. Thanks so much!

You all do realize that the number one, hands down, coolest thing a worgen has is the /cheer emote...brother.
Dreyja Sep 27th 2010 10:32PM
LOL, it is really straight from the Hogan play-book isn't it. I'm not sure how to feel about that.
Ichigo Sep 27th 2010 2:49PM
The more I see of the Worgen model (and to a very lesser extent the new Goblin PC models), the more it's obvious that Blizz needs to "flesh out" the older vanilla WOW models.
Dreyja Sep 27th 2010 2:55PM
This makes me VERY hungry for the female model to be fixed and to see her in action as well. Is anyone else really curious what the female voice is going to be like in worgen mode? I mean we've heard the human voice with the emotes but nothing more beastial so far.
EEEEeee.... I can't wait for the female worgen.. CAN'T WAIT!!!
pinteresque Sep 27th 2010 3:04PM
"Fixed" may have been an unfortunate choice of a word, there.
