World of Warcraft TCG players, rejoice! The newest expansion set to the incredibly popular
WoW trading card game,
Scourgewar: Icecrown, is now available. A host of new heroes, items, characters (including Thrall, Jaina) and some special guests (the awesome airships The Skybreaker and Orgrim's Hammer) are combating The Lich King's forces. Also new to this expansion are Scourge heroes and allies -- play as and recruit Arthas' toughest warriors, including vrykul, to strengthen your deck. And who better to hunt the Lich King than the greatest hunter of all time: Hemet Nesingwary?
Included in every trading card game expansion have been some rare goodies, and
Icecrown is no exception. For those lucky enough (or with enough cash for scrounging on eBay), the rare mount
Wooly White Rhino, the common loot
paint bombs and the uncommon
Ethereal Portal, which functions as a super cool-looking hearthstone, are available in this expansion.

So, wait, they remove the portals from Dalaran and Shatt, and then simultaneously release a second hearthstone item we can buy for real-life money?
I'm normally not a tin-foil hat guy, but that seems a little shady to me...

Not a second cooldown though.
"Shares hearthstone cooldown (30 min.) effectively replacing hearthstone."

No need for the tinfoil, in this case, as the Ethereal Portal shares a cooldown with your hearthstone. It's just an infinitely cooler looking way to run home.

Of course there is every need for tin foil hats!!!
THIS IS MAGIC!!!
Don't cross the streams, brave adventurers!
(I always imagined the hearthstone to be a "special" rune, okay I give up... it's magic too..)

Could someone link a picture of that rhino for me? :)

I hate the way the TCG is distributed. My town only has 3 hobby stores. Only 2 have WOW TCG starter box sets...which happen to be the old Upper Deck stuff no one wants. They carry no booster packs and wonder why no one buys it.
Then looking on Amazon, if I want a new starter set, I have to buy the $80 complete set which the hobby stores should be selling. I have to buy all of the starter sets just to get the one I want.
I also think Cryptozoic not selling their starter sets through their site or the Blizzard store is just cr*ppy marketing.
And...if anyone knows of a good place to buy this stuff online, please let me know.

You want to do a search for wow tcg class starter deck.
That brings up many links.
Looks for ones costing about $10 or so for a single class box.
The $80 boxes are for every class/faction box in a single crate.
Amazon seems to only sell the big crate, but others like toywiz sell the individual boxes.

Dave and Adam's Card World has every release at really good prices (even the Upper Deck stuff nobody wants :-P )

Actually, I just noticed they have a ton of individual decks too:

Now I begin to wonder what the effect of using the Innkeeper's Daughter will look like...

If by "Incredibly popular" you mean "doing okay for a TCG," then, sure, I guess.
Vilhelm Sep 27th 2010 8:19PM
Yeah, it seems like they copy-pasted a press release from Cryptozoic for that first paragraph, but I couldn't find it on their website, so maybe not.
"Incredibly popular"...ha. Yeah, it is doing fine for a TCG that isn't Magic, but incredible? I find their success to be entirely credible. Honestly, they *should* be doing better, working with a property that has a built-in fanbase of millions of gamers. I'd post some of my complaints about the game here, but I genuinely wish them well, and many of the problems they had were from Upper Deck. Maybe Cryptozoic will do better.

i will not be spending another cent on this crap every since i bought $100 bucks worth of boosters just to see they had ninja removed the ude points.
