The Queue: Dala-ran out of portals

The portals are gone! Run for your lives! Actually, I don't really care -- that's what mages are for, right? To boss around and hound for hours until they take me to the Undercity? What's that? You want a tip? Oh, come now, it's just pressing one button, and I'm thrifty and mean. Start casting, slave! Hey, it's Queue time!
Pyromelter asked:
What's going to happen with soul shard bags, like the Abyssal Bag? It's 32 slots so I can't image they'd just convert it into a normal bag, but I haven't heard what will happen to them.
So far, soul shard bags are turning into regular bags of lower slot count. You obviously won't be getting a 32-slot bag out of the conversion, but hey, you're totally getting more bag slots! Like, real bag slots! That can hold items! Isn't that awesome?
Quill2006 asked:
Sooo ... regular or collector's edition? Which one, and why? I'm torn.
I've been buying the WoW Collector's editions since the beginning, so if I ever stopped, they would look weird on the shelf. Blizzard has me, for totally cosmetic reasons. The collector's edition has got:
- art book, 176 pages
- Lil' Deathwing in-game pet
- Cataclysm soundtrack
- Deathwing mousepad
- WoW TCG cards
omedon666 asked:
Upon looking at the worgen female screenshots, I noticed some circular icons next to the customization options, focusing on her two faces. Is this a toggle between the two forms? Can we actually customize our worgen's two forms separately now?
Currently in beta, the choices you make for one form affect the other form -- kind of like how tauren/night elf skin color affects the color that your bear or cat comes out as. This could change, but we don't currently have that information.
JiBJUB asked:
What's with just the one "t", Mat? Please 'splain. No -- not enough time. Please sum up.
My mother liked one "t" instead of two, for purely cosmetic reasons.
Devo_AS asked:
Will those silly people that don't purchase the expansion get full access to the new (and improved?) post-Cataclysm 1-60 Azeroth?
If you do not purchase the expansion, you get access to all the new content in old-new world Azeroth. You will not, however, be able to create worgen or goblin characters, potentially may not be able to fly in Azeroth and will not have access to the new 80+ content.
Michael asked:
Hey Mat! Long time reader, first time questioner! I have officially begun Kyle Watch! With the coming of the new Azeroth, I was curious if we've gotten any word from the blues if the various make-a-wishes and memorials would remain after the sundering. It would be a shame if the game, with such a rich history of recognizing the memories of the players and creators, were to lose these small touches. Having them in there is one of the major factors of my continual play. It made Blizzard awesome.
I don't think even Deathwing is evil enough to hit these memorials and monuments.

The ring was never a good investment. You were better of getting the teleport-tabard from from Argent Crusade, takes you to the tournament grounds were are only a minute flight-time away from Dalaran.
Aloix Sep 27th 2010 11:00PM
I am loving my ring right now, as I'm working on Loremaster so I can hearth in whichever 'Azeroth' city is appropriate, and still zoom to Dal if needed (usually to port elsewhere..).
Granted, it will suck when it's pretty much useless. Oh well, it was an achievement, and it's gold I've long since replaced a few times over. I do hope they come up with something similar in Cata, though. I like advantages and flexibility.

Question for the Queue:
Are there any events, like the Wrathgate, that offer in-game cinematics and epic, instanced quests that we know of? Any rumours that they will be added?
john Sep 27th 2010 12:46PM
i heard they were removing battle for undercity for some reason D:
theRaptor Sep 27th 2010 12:51PM
The battle for the Abyss scripted event seemed pretty epic. They are using personal phasing heavily and even copied the battle for the Undercity style event for the Gnomes/Trolls so I don't think they will stop using that style of event.
They certainly make the game seem less static then World of Mob Farming where the mobs gentle wander back and forth in their paddocks (I would really love to see that MMO convention die).
Kylenne Sep 27th 2010 1:41PM
@John: they're removing Battle for the Undercity because it won't make sense anymore from a continuity standpoint in Cataclysm. They already made one slight concession to that in 3.3, when all of the Abom guards in UC were replaced with Garrosh's Kor'kron goons, and Varimathras got an orcish replacement in the throne room. If you haven't done BftUC, you still see the Abom guards (and Varimathras), but once you've done it, you see the orcs there instead. The thing is, there's really nothing they can do to salvage it given the sweeping changes in Horde leadership in Cataclysm, so they're getting rid of it altogether. Thrall plays a huge role in the event, especially the Horde version, and he's not going to be Warchief anymore, so the disconnect would be too much. Imagine leveling 1-73ish with Garrosh Hellscream as your warchief and Thrall ostensibly at teh Maelstrom/doing his shaman thing, then all of a sudden you do Wrathgate and have to report to Warchief Thrall because the Undercity's fallen to a coup, and you'll start to see why they have to get rid of it. It's a shame, because it's so epic, but them's the breaks.
icepyro Sep 27th 2010 2:16PM
Speaking of the battle of undercity: Are they going to finish replacing all the aboms with guards or will the sewers always be guarded with an abomination?
And I find it ironic that Thrall put his elite guard to guard all the entrances except the back one.
RogueJedi86 Sep 27th 2010 2:40PM
But Kylenne, Northrend and all Northrend quests are already still in the "past", so the Battle for the Undercity wouldn't clash with the Northrend timeline. It'll be odd for the Wrathgate event to just happen and everyone go "whoops, no one's to blame here, no reason to react at all". *sigh* This is why Outland and Northrend need to be advanced along with Old World Azeroth for Cataclysm.
Al Sep 27th 2010 3:28PM
Officially it's because of the continuity hole. It's actually because correcting the phasing of Orgrimmar and Undercity during the quest chain to match up with the new design of the cities in Cataclysm is a ridiculous amount of work, perhaps to the point of impossiblity.
SamLowry Sep 27th 2010 4:41PM
Why not just "phase" the participants into an instance? Would anyone really notice the difference?
And, as the devs have pointed out, Burning Crusade content is already a part of Azeroth's past and Wrath content will soon join it in the dustbin of history.
RJ Sep 27th 2010 6:04PM
What would be really cool, is to somehow make it into another CoT instance. If there is no reason for that lorewise - well my bad... I just recall we are forever going back in time in CoT and that could be a guise to keep such an amazing part of Wrath alive...
Just a thought.

@ Zheo: I've played through quite some of the revamped old zones in the beta, and I can tell you that pretty much every zone ends with an epic event, often instanced/phased :)
I haven't seen any cinematics like the one before Wrathgate, but there will certainly always be a dialogue and actions between key npcs in the event, and you get to participate in some pretty big, epic battles for example. Most of the quests in a zone will lead up to this final event, and you will get rewarded with a blue item when you finish that final quest.
I'm sad to see Wrathgate go, but I'm glad we'll at least get tons of similarly epic questlines back :D
Sintraedrien Sep 27th 2010 11:16PM
@Kylenne: Actually, UC has been permanently changed to Orcs (instead of Aboms) and Varimathras' replacement, even if you haven't done the Battle yet. The replacement gives the same quests, and if you ask about Vari, says something like, "/shrug . . . no-one has seen him in some time."
:)

Does it make me lazy that I want to play a Mage in Cata just so I can port myself around?
Cataca Sep 27th 2010 12:56PM
I saw this coming and did exactly that. My mage hit 80 a couple of weeks ago. With this and the need for strong CC, that mage could just become my main.
vocenoctum Sep 27th 2010 2:09PM
I'm only 46, but I'll be there!
It'd be nice if they'd glyph portal/teleport to remove cost, or at least set up a Portal Outside Group thing somehow, but meh.

Is there any where I can purchase all of the WoW soundtracks without trying to find collector's editions??
Debesun Sep 27th 2010 1:08PM
Original WoW soundtrack
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/world-warcraft-original-game/id288879642
Burning Crusades soundtrack
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/world-warcraft-the-burning/id288876226
Wrath of the Lich King soundtrack
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/world-warcraft-wrath-lich/id294991405
Both the BC and the WotLK soundtracks that are on CD only came with the collectors edition and aren't sold by separately so unless you can find it second hand, you're out of luck I guess.
Debesun Sep 27th 2010 1:10PM
And the Original WoW soundtrack on CD :P
