The Queue: Dala-ran out of portals

The portals are gone! Run for your lives! Actually, I don't really care -- that's what mages are for, right? To boss around and hound for hours until they take me to the Undercity? What's that? You want a tip? Oh, come now, it's just pressing one button, and I'm thrifty and mean. Start casting, slave! Hey, it's Queue time!
Pyromelter asked:
What's going to happen with soul shard bags, like the Abyssal Bag? It's 32 slots so I can't image they'd just convert it into a normal bag, but I haven't heard what will happen to them.
So far, soul shard bags are turning into regular bags of lower slot count. You obviously won't be getting a 32-slot bag out of the conversion, but hey, you're totally getting more bag slots! Like, real bag slots! That can hold items! Isn't that awesome?
Quill2006 asked:
Sooo ... regular or collector's edition? Which one, and why? I'm torn.
I've been buying the WoW Collector's editions since the beginning, so if I ever stopped, they would look weird on the shelf. Blizzard has me, for totally cosmetic reasons. The collector's edition has got:
- art book, 176 pages
- Lil' Deathwing in-game pet
- Cataclysm soundtrack
- Deathwing mousepad
- WoW TCG cards
omedon666 asked:
Upon looking at the worgen female screenshots, I noticed some circular icons next to the customization options, focusing on her two faces. Is this a toggle between the two forms? Can we actually customize our worgen's two forms separately now?
Currently in beta, the choices you make for one form affect the other form -- kind of like how tauren/night elf skin color affects the color that your bear or cat comes out as. This could change, but we don't currently have that information.
JiBJUB asked:
What's with just the one "t", Mat? Please 'splain. No -- not enough time. Please sum up.
My mother liked one "t" instead of two, for purely cosmetic reasons.
Devo_AS asked:
Will those silly people that don't purchase the expansion get full access to the new (and improved?) post-Cataclysm 1-60 Azeroth?
If you do not purchase the expansion, you get access to all the new content in old-new world Azeroth. You will not, however, be able to create worgen or goblin characters, potentially may not be able to fly in Azeroth and will not have access to the new 80+ content.
Michael asked:
Hey Mat! Long time reader, first time questioner! I have officially begun Kyle Watch! With the coming of the new Azeroth, I was curious if we've gotten any word from the blues if the various make-a-wishes and memorials would remain after the sundering. It would be a shame if the game, with such a rich history of recognizing the memories of the players and creators, were to lose these small touches. Having them in there is one of the major factors of my continual play. It made Blizzard awesome.
I don't think even Deathwing is evil enough to hit these memorials and monuments.

PORTALCLYSM is the funniest thing I've seen all day.

Mage port fees are going way up.
I'm pretty good at detecting these things.
pinteresque Sep 27th 2010 1:29PM
I wish.
Increased demand versus an unlimited supply means prices go DOWN, not up. If portals were limited by a non-trivial cooldown, you'd have a point.
pinteresque Sep 27th 2010 1:35PM
Heh. Not quite, though I wish it were true - an infinite supply + increased demand means prices will go DOWN, not up. If ports had a non-trivial CD, then maybe.
pinteresque Sep 27th 2010 1:36PM
ugh. I really, really hate this comment system. Sorry about the DP.
Xid Sep 27th 2010 3:32PM
Unfortunately, supply in this case is governed by the willingness of mages to make portals for others. The mages have a monopoly.
Amaxe Sep 27th 2010 4:11PM
I think Xid has it right. Increased demand will allow mages to raise the minimum price for a portal.
Here's an example. In TBC I was a 380 JC (draenei bonus) with most recipes. I'd see constant requests in general or trade for a JC. I would only reply if the promised tip was enough to make me consider it worth doing this instead of what I felt like doing.
Mages are probably the same (never took one past 10 mind you). They're in game doing what they want to do. Along comes a "WTB Portal" Will he take it? Depends on whether the buyer makes it worth his while.

@jasonablackburn iTunes you are able to buy all of the albums.
@Zheo There are A LOT of quests that have cinematics or similar experiences. Not sure about the powered up type quests (Like battle for Undercity).

Where does wowinsider get all of the screenshots? You seem to have lots that are hard to get and organize.
MrJackSauce Sep 27th 2010 1:09PM
We send them in mostly.

Question - We can use Stonekeeper's Shards to buy heirlooms right now, but since they will be converted, will any heirlooms be "purchaseable" with the new honor based currency(ies)? If so, still in Wintergrasp?
Ezjidday Sep 27th 2010 3:00PM
I was on the PTR yesterday, and as of that time anything sold by the Wintergrasp vendors is now available for the new honor point currency. And unlike with some of the PvE emblem items, seem to cost exactly the same after the conversion.
Meaning a heirloom that cost 200 stonekeeper shards, now cost 320 honor points, which is exactly how much you'll get from 200 stonekeeper shards after the conversion.
Amaxe Sep 27th 2010 4:14PM
Are they purchaseable at normal PvP vendors now? Or still only at WG?
VegetaPrime Sep 27th 2010 12:57PM
Speaking of memorials, is there a definitive list of all the graves/memorials/in-honor-ofs in the game? Not necessarily the pop culture stuff but items named after players, graves dedicated to fallen programmers, fans, and such.
Raithvin Sep 27th 2010 1:04PM
Indeed there is.
Wikipedia has a pretty extensive list, rangeing from in game memorials to items named after/made by players.
Raithvin Sep 27th 2010 1:05PM
WoWWiki* even
Though one would assume Wikipedia probably has that stuff too.

Is that a High Elf WARLOCK!?
But the Blood elves- and the demons- and the disagreeing..
I-...
...-what?
Lore confusion overload!
*Head asplodes*
MikeLive Sep 27th 2010 1:11PM
High Elves are still dependent on fel magics just like Blood Elves. The High Elven faction (like the Silver Covenant) are just Blood Elves who stayed loyal to their Alliance comrades when the rest of their race (the Blood Elves) went into seclusion following the Third War.
Sithril Sep 27th 2010 1:21PM
Why confusion?
It's not like the High elves are some purists or what. Plus, the Blood Elves of QuelThalas aren't fel addicts or anything - it's Kael'Thas' lot that is.
People really get it confused up about what it means to be a blood elf and a high elf. It's got nothing to do with fel magic or demons or anything (by the way, the blood elves' green eyes aren't coused by fel magic). Once a High elf starts studying demonic knowledge and uses the powers of the Nether doesn't make him a blood elf. It's like with human or gnome warlocks - do their eyes glow green or they breath green fire? No.
Plus, there's nothing in their culture that prohibits a High elf to becoming a Warlock. So if he chooses so, he does it like Warlocks in every race - they do it underground :)
