Arena season 8 to end as early as Oct. 12

With this announcement, not only should arena teams get ready to get in those last few wins in hope of gaining end-of-season rewards, but we can all start looking forward to patch 4.0.1. It's not a guarantee, of course, but the end of an arena season is generally accompanied by a new patch -- and with patch 4.0.1 already on many of our computers via the background downloader, this may be as good a time as any. Of course, the post also leaves Blizzard leeway to push the end date back a few weeks if it needs to, as well, but either way, it may be a good idea to start getting prepared.

Maybe I missed this somewhere else - any news if the region-wide battleground queues are coming out with 4.0 or just when Cataclysm releases?

Finally! This must've been the longest season ever in the history of wow. And thats just stupid and confusing and little bit of frustrating. Good thing they added last season before expansion..
But this will be the like in 3.0.. Certain classes will have their damage on ridicilous levels (remember dks and palas at start, eh?). Oh well, enjoy!

Does this mean Wrathful gear will be purchaseable with just honor points or will we be locked out from purchasing any new items when we use up our remaining arena points?

It's not like Blizzard to go around handing out ilvl 277 weapons. At the end of the "Brutal" season they removed most of the pvp vendors and items. I'd suggest buying the items you want before the season ends.
That said, we can't really speculate until Blizz makes a post confirming things. God knows they've done some wacky things lately.
