Cataclysm: Justice point conversion revised

- Emblems of Triumph = 11.58 justice points (up from 2.75)
- Emblems of Frost = 11.58 justice points (up from 2.75)
- Justice point cap = 4,000 points (around 345 emblems)
- Justice points over cap = 47.5 silver each after patch 4.0.3 (down from 2 gold)
BashiokWe've revised the Justice Points conversion rate for Emblems of Triumph and Emblems of Frost. When the upcoming 4.0.1 patch goes live, these emblems will be converted into 11.58 Justice Points (up from the previously planned 2.75 Justice Points per emblem). Justice Points accrued above the soft cap of 4,000 will be converted to gold at a rate of 47.5 silver per point (down from 2 gold per point) when patch 4.0.3 goes live.
BashiokThe previous conversion rate was intended to devalue Frost and Triumph a bit to discourage some amount of farming and hoarding of points before the conversion, but then we came to the conclusion that no matter what we do people would be farming well above the softcap, and we shouldn't try to make it more difficult for them to do so.

Guys you're not seeing the whole picture.
Suppose that when Cata arrives you farmed tons of triumphs and you have 4000Jp? That sounds good, you feel you are ahead. Exept that you are not because you can only buy Lvl85 blues when you are lvl85.
And on your way to 85 arent's you running a few dungeons? Yes
Aren't those new dungeons going to award Justice points? Yes again
Will these points be wasted? Definitely Yes bc you are over the cap.
Just saying

Just saying you are wrong. I hit 85 and have 4k points to spend. You hit with zero cause points for running normal instances do not happen. Just saying I am ahead of you.

@Thanos73
The random dungeon finder is likely to be awarding Justice Points for non-heroics like it awards triumphs now. So if you're at the 4k cap for JP, your points are going to waste.

Yep, looks like for heirlooms, there might be a very slight advantage to holding onto your badges (at least frost and triumph) and waiting for the conversion. It appears to be about a 6% bump in value. Example, a chest piece currently costs 40 EoH. Assuming you only have frost and triumph to spend on these (by converting down to EoH), the 40 badges = 463.2 justice points after 4.0.1 drops. The reported cost of the chest in Cata is 435 JP, making it about a 6.5% gain in JP.

I get my heirlooms by doing the dailies from the Argent tourney. I keep hearing about using badges for them. What am I missing?

You can also get heirlooms by down-converting your frost/triumph/etc badges to the lowest level, in Dalaran. There's an heirloom vendor in with all the other badge vendors.

Does anyone know how many Justice Points are earned in an average Cata Heroic?
mynameisjoeness Sep 30th 2010 9:42AM
cata heroic bosses grant 75Jp each.

i dont know if its been answered, but i think its important to ask: how long do we have between 4.01 and the hard cap implementation of 4.03

I'm farming emblems for an entirely different reason than "raking in riches": I'm only 50 badges away from the 2500 dungeon and raid emblems earned. Since there won't be emblems in cata, I'm guessing that this achievement will either become a Feat of Strength or be simply removed. I can live with it being removed, but By George, I'll have earned it first!
And hey, ya know, you kinda get more gold traipsing through dungeons and selling the loot than you'd get from converting the emblems to gold, so it doesn't make lots of sense to "not make farming emblems worthwhile" in the sense of "converts-ta-gold".
But then, badge gear has largely been a replacement for raid gear of one tier or another. (Vendor gear, on the other hand, has largely been a tease - you generally get equal or better gear while gaining the reputation you need to buy the offered gear.)

Blizzard store sometime 2011

I guess the math behind it is :
95 Frost badges x 11.58 = 1100.1 justice points
Thus, the price for a T10 piece remains the same.

Ugh.... I wish I would have known this a couple days ago... I thought there wasn't any reason to hold on to my Triumph badges and just spent the bulk of them on heirloom armor for an alt I only play a little. Such is life. The good news is it feels like there is a reason to continue to get some daily Triumph badges. I was going for the daily Frost badges but wouldn't always bother with the Triumph.

Haha! Now I'm justified for not rushing out and buying Primordial Saronite and heirlooms like my entire server did. And now Saronite prices are at an all time low, as everyone bought some, and they're all trying to get some gold from it. Yay paying 300 gold for a piece of Saronite that was 1k last week!

Any word on what happens when you kill a WOTLK or BC heroic boss after the change? Do they now drop Justice points too?
Will there be any way for a level 70 player to acquire level 70 vendor epics? What about a new level 80 toon? Will they be able to acquire tier 10?

@Prenden2
Yeah, me too =/

Will random Lvl 80 heroics in the DF continue to award emblems (now Justice Points) after Cataclysm drops? Or will that system be retired?
If we can continue to farm justice points from Lvl 80 heroics, there's no urgency to get emblem-capped before Cataclysm begins. If those lvl 80 rewards are going away, it will be easier to farm those justice points now with quick random heroics than it will be to earn them from the harder-by-design dungeons of Cataclysm.
