Frostmourne makes an appearance in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

The newest Guitar Hero game isn't doing so hot critically, but maybe we can blame that cool reception on the fact that there's a rather familiar icy zweihander hanging out as an unlockable "guitar" in the game's instrument store.
This marks the second time we've seen Frostmourne in an Activision game (the first being its appearance in the Wolverine game). It's also not the first time we've seen WoW references in the GH series: the Elite Tauren Chieftain song "I Am Murloc" is available as downloadable content for Guitar Hero 3. Clearly, Activision is big on brand recognition. As long as it doesn't go the other way around, I'm fine with little cross-promotions like this -- though, to be honest, if we're going with the "axe" theme for guitars, I think I know a weapon that might've fit the bill just a little better.
Thanks for the tip, Valek!

A favorite amongst death metal types, I'd imagine.
GET IT!? DEATH METAL!?!??!

Activision hath no shame. I mean, it makes sense, but at the same time it's a stupid marketing ploy.

Drums of War, a L70ETC drum set, is buy able in the DS version of Band Hero, a Guitar Hero remake for pop songs.

Okay.
So I'm a little bit confused.
Instead of choosing the one weapon in the game that actually IS a guitar in the form of the Arcanite Ripper, instead they chose Gorehowl - a weapon that honestly not many people care about - in favor of the one weapon that actually makes sense.
... What?
fatsephy Sep 29th 2010 9:05PM
Uhh no, they chose Frostmourne. Why would they use Hellscream's Axe?
What are you talking about?
Pauguster Sep 29th 2010 10:51PM
@fatsephy
Umm...did you read the Article? They suggested using Gorehowl
And I have to agree Arcanite Reaper would be much better
fatsephy Sep 30th 2010 1:33AM
@Pauguster - Yes, I did read the article, unlike the person I replied to, who thought that Gorehowl had been used in the game, rather than it merely being a misguided suggestion by Mr. Sacco. :)
Perhaps you can read between the lines a little better yourself my friend.
edersons Sep 30th 2010 12:41PM
Dude, chill out...you made a comment about how someone either:
a) misunderstood the weapon that Activision really used on its game
b) was refering to the Gorehowl mention of the Article's author.
Either way, it was just a introduction to clarify his oponion that Arcanite Ripper would be a better model to insert into the Guitar Hero game. No need to flame about this.

What about /script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("\124cffa335ee\124Hitem:39769:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0\124h[Arcanite Ripper]\124h\124r"); ? Seems like the best obvious choice. \m/ o.O \m/

The Lich King also appears in the game as a playable unlockable character (under the name 'Arthas Menethil' for some silly reason, and we all know that Arthas ceased to exist when he became good ol' Lichy Poo).
I dislike the fact that Activision are pushing out this sort of cross-game promotion, without offering something in reverse. I want a damn murloc with a guitar pet! :P

true. true. I wana see captain price as a human captain of an elite force.
quasarsglow Sep 30th 2010 8:33AM
@Juanin Is it just me or does the frostmourne look terribly small for a guitar. Of course I think most Flying V guitars look dinky too.
But I mean.. Aren't guitars supposed to be symbolic of things that guys don't want to be small?

Frostmourne is undoubtedly the most famous weapon to non-WoW players (& probably WoW players too). That's why they picked it.
