Cataclysm Beta: Patch notes, build 13117

- Backstab now deals 200% weapon damage, up from 175%. Additional base damage increased by 33%.
- Revealing Strike now causes 125% of your normal weapon damage, up from 100%.
- Improved Sinister Strike now increases damage dealt by your Sinister Strike ability by 10/20/30%, up from 2/4/6%.
- Vitality (Passive) now also increases Attack Power by 15%.
With all the class changes also comes some more news about professions. A slew of new enchants have been uncovered as well as a new recipe that I think every alchemist will be interested in. The recipe for Vial of the Sands has been uncovered, and if you're wondering what it is, this little potion will transform you into a Sandstone Drake! Not only do you get to become a really awesome looking dragon and fly very fast, but a friend can hop on your back and go for a ride. It is one of the more interesting concepts as far as mounts go, and I for one am looking forward to making and downing a Vial of the Sands as soon as I can. Keep in mind that all of these changes are based on the data uncovered from the Cataclysm beta, and can change at any time. Be sure to check back often for all the latest Cataclysm news.

Well I'm clearly not going to abandon my DK Alchemist in Cata now.
syfie Sep 30th 2010 6:07PM
nice rogue buffs
MikeLive Sep 30th 2010 6:19PM
It's not buffs, it's balancing.
Michael Sep 30th 2010 7:43PM
they buffed makeup AGAIN!?
SINisterWyvern Sep 30th 2010 8:53PM
Fail.. rouge is the makeup. Rogue was the correct spelling
Saeadame Sep 30th 2010 10:00PM
He's obviously either very confused or too used to people spelling it wrong =P.
Zalvi24 Sep 30th 2010 6:07PM
hope they change it so its required to have alchemy, cause of now it just BoP, anybody can level up alchemy learn the recipe and drop it for other profession
lady.silverdragon Sep 30th 2010 6:31PM
I hope they DON'T change it for that exact same reason! ;-)
AltairAntares Sep 30th 2010 6:42PM
It'll probably work much the same as tailoring and engineering mounts work.
Scooter Sep 30th 2010 7:28PM
It's a real trade-off. Requiring alchemy skill does make it more unique and fun...but you loose out on a potential profitability that will persist throughout the next expansion. In particular the early months it will sell for a bundle.
Remember how frozen orbs sold for 1k a piece at the start of everything? Now most servers sell them for 20 gold. I left out the motorcycle. cool as it is...it's just to high of a base cost.
Covnam Sep 30th 2010 8:16PM
I hope they change it so that it's not BoP like the mechano-hog. It'd be nice if the epic flying carpets could be sold to others.
Drakkenfyre Oct 1st 2010 3:03AM
The Mechanohog isn't BOP.

Holy Rogue buff Batman!
Argojax Sep 30th 2010 6:09PM
I forget is Mana Tide still group only? If so doesn't the mean that all heals will need to be in one group and/or that a couple heals lose out? Also, doesn't this do potentially weird things for classes where hit comes from Spirit?
scherbaddie Sep 30th 2010 8:09PM
What "weird" things would it do? It increases their hit rating for a short period of time. If they're hit capped it will do nothing (still increases their regen though), and if they're not hit capped it will more than likely cap them for the duration.

Cataclysm Release Date - December 7th
Season 9 starts on December 14th, a blue post stated that Cataclysm would be released one week earlier.
* +ARENA_MASTER_NO_SEASON_TEXT = "Arena battles and Rated Battlegrounds are only available during an active player versus player combat season. Season nine will begin on December 14th, so be prepared at that time to take your shot at glory!";

gahhh too slow of a typer heh heh.
Soulestream Oct 1st 2010 2:34PM
YAY, I'm sure MMO-Champion got that right...this time... the 3rd time...
columnFive Sep 30th 2010 6:13PM
Hunters' Marksmanship mastery was actually substantially buffed (proc hitting for 100% weapon damage instead of 50%, with only a 2% reduction in the base proc rate). SV and BM masteries definitely got hit by the nerf bat, though. Kinda happy with this, as I primarily run MM and was sorely disappointed with how badly mastery competed with crit and haste for the beta version of the spec.
MikeLive Sep 30th 2010 6:20PM
Buffs and Nerfs don't apply to prerelease builds, it's called balancing.
