Cataclysm Beta: Patch notes, build 13117

- Backstab now deals 200% weapon damage, up from 175%. Additional base damage increased by 33%.
- Revealing Strike now causes 125% of your normal weapon damage, up from 100%.
- Improved Sinister Strike now increases damage dealt by your Sinister Strike ability by 10/20/30%, up from 2/4/6%.
- Vitality (Passive) now also increases Attack Power by 15%.
With all the class changes also comes some more news about professions. A slew of new enchants have been uncovered as well as a new recipe that I think every alchemist will be interested in. The recipe for Vial of the Sands has been uncovered, and if you're wondering what it is, this little potion will transform you into a Sandstone Drake! Not only do you get to become a really awesome looking dragon and fly very fast, but a friend can hop on your back and go for a ride. It is one of the more interesting concepts as far as mounts go, and I for one am looking forward to making and downing a Vial of the Sands as soon as I can. Keep in mind that all of these changes are based on the data uncovered from the Cataclysm beta, and can change at any time. Be sure to check back often for all the latest Cataclysm news.

Wait! Nub question! Can I drop tailoring and keep my carpet?
Rudzy Sep 30th 2010 7:32PM
Negatory, dude.
SaintStryfe Sep 30th 2010 8:42PM
if it's like Engineering, you can keep it, but you cannot summon it as a mount.

I am an Alchemist, and I think I just did whatever the female version of creaming one's pants is.

My poor poor resto druid-ness. I might end up making a Gnome priest then.

Yay! now I have an excuse to level my Alchemist shammy alt to max profession level. Now just give me something for my troubles of leveling First Aid as a rogue and a warrior, and we'll be all set!

Ahh resto druid uh 'balancing'... I was expecting you, but it still makes me sad.
Oh well, I'll still love you forever

The vial thing looks awesome. I cant count how often I'm leading my friends around for holidays/quests so I love me some passenger mounts. I see no alchemy requirement, so can I keep it and go back to something else on my main? Or will it be like the flying carpet that requires tailoring skill to use? Or better yet, can it please change to be like mechano-hog so I don't even need alchemy to get it in the first place? I mean it probably will cost 15k to level anyways, so I'm cool with paying that again for a new mount? Please? :)

Did anyone consider that each time you want to use the sand stone drake you may have to have a potion available to drink? Kinda like a flask. If so this could be a great market for alchemist

It says "Teaches you how to..." so that would imply it works like mounts/pets.
Rebelkillz Oct 1st 2010 1:06AM
If they are going to make a mount thats going to be a two seater then why would you limit it to only one profession I think they should make it a boe mount let the alchys sell it like the engineers mechno-hog
Calaana Oct 1st 2010 2:15AM
Looking at the item made by the alcys, it's bop - so you have to be a alcy to make it. Obvious statement is obvious. What seems to be missed is this item teaches the spell... and the spell will likely have an alcy requirement on it.
Rebelkillz Oct 1st 2010 10:57AM
but again lets take the flying carpet into consideration yes it is a cool mount but lets face it, it is still just a mount. Now given the choice between a two seater mount and a one seater mount which would you choose? so again i say why not make it a boe item that alchys can sell cause you know people are going to buy it. if im not mistaken the only other two seater FLYING mount is the rocket which you have to recruit a friend for so you know that alchys are going to make mega-gold off of it

i think it will be cool for me to turn into a dragon i like them anyways seeing my warlock as one will be awesome

Super sweet! I knew rogue combat was hitting too low. I saw a 15% damage decrease in the dummy from live to ptr. ArPen was the only thing keeping combat together, so the buffs were needed. Warriors are also suffering from the ArPen transformation, maybe they'll see some buffs too.

Inscription can make portal scrolls. Also, since they're taking away ammo pouches and quivers from us, just as they inroduce several new markets (forsaken, humans, goblins and worgen), how about letting us finally make some backpacks? The starter bag and the classic Traveler's Backpack both look like leather to me.

When is Leather Working going to get some mount lovin'?
