Goblin cinematic: Escape from Kezan
Xfire user Zilas just uploaded what we believe to be the cinematic detailing the end of the goblin starting zone Kezan. Frankly, it's amazing. There are spoilers for the end of the first part of the goblin starting experience, so be warned.
Blizzard has, once again, topped itself in terms of cinematic quality and expression outside of its general pre-rendered cinematics. Hopefully the worgen transformation movie is just as awesome.

Impressive. I'd find it hard to believe this to not be what it appears. Well done Blizz.

I've already seen it 6-7 times. Blow my mind everytime. I just love it!
Blizzard has always made fantastic cinematics. I really wish they'd make new ones for all the races, because they already made new stories for the starting areas, so why not? :)

GG Allaince, good thing that want your own people. Why are humans the major force again?
Deathknighty Sep 30th 2010 1:27PM
Because it's SI:6 trying to capture Thrall. They're a human organisation.
You may have noticed, however, the accent on the captain. He sounded a little Gilnean.

They are the major force again because the King is back baby and while he had to hurry up and press towards defeating the Lich King now he can push towards his original goal. YOUR DEFEAT! For The Alliance!

Kul Tiras is my bet, trying to capture some Horde VIP, rather than Stormwind. I didn't see a lion anywhere, but that mark on the mate's hat looked familiar, and they've been hinting there's something coming on that front.
Not that Garosh will know the difference or Varian will care much. But Jania needs something to be angsty about

Am I the only one that has memories that the kidnapping of Thrall was actually a Twilight Cult plot? Am I wrong here? I could have sworn that was the case.
In that case the whole, "no witnesses," order makes a lot more sense.
I could be completely wrong though. It's not the first time these cultists have arranged things like this to try and keep the horde and alliance at eachother's throats.
Eternauta Sep 30th 2010 3:06PM
Thank god we'll always have Dreyja to remind us that "alliaz is gud and hord is evul lolz".
/end sarcasm
I don't remember any mention of the Twilight Hammer in this.
Dreyja Sep 30th 2010 3:30PM
@ Eternauta - and I'm so glad we have you around to assume you know what is going on in my mind at all times. /eyeroll
Seriously, my comment had nothing to do with that and the fact that you put my imagined thoughts in lame-speak says far more about your presuppositions than my own. At no point have I EVER attacked you, rather than an idea, so try to do the same. Thank you.
Notice I said I might be wrong about this. It's a point of curiousity since I'm sure that I heard it in one pod cast or another. It makes no difference in the greater sceme of things.
epicboyz Sep 30th 2010 1:12PM
wow... just wow. sooo good... way better than titanic, and is that a little bit of spaceballs in regards to the escape pods?
naixdra Sep 30th 2010 1:14PM
Wow, sinking an unknown ship full of goblin slaves just because you think nobody knows about how you guys don't like the horde.
I understand that this was kind of a contrivance to set my goblin free and still breed factional rivalry.
I also understand that Garrosh and Sylvanas have been attacking you guys mercilessly and with little to no reason.
But seriously (and pardon my Orcish)
Dick move, Alliance.
Dick. Move.
Vanter Sep 30th 2010 1:27PM
I believe that the horde ship has Thrall on it and the Alliance ship doesn't want anyone to know that they kidnapped him. Hence destroying witnesses.
Xan Sep 30th 2010 1:34PM
This plays into the total war atmosphere of Horde vs. Alliance in this xpac. While it is a dirty move by the alliance, an unknown ship could be an enemy ship as much as it could be an ally. If you have seen the whole goblin zone after this and know who the "target" is you would understand why they acted this way. Worgens got the same treatment by the horde although later in there starting area.
Matt Sep 30th 2010 1:37PM
The ship is flying the jolly roger (you can see it at :40), pretty sure anybody caught in a naval engagement would have opened fire on it.
Tolkfan Sep 30th 2010 1:41PM
I don't approve of it (just like the deal the alliance made with grimtotems), but I like it in a *storytelling* sense. The Horde's shade of evil is "orc smash" and "I'm the Lich Queen", while the Alliance shade is more "humanish", reminds me of various agencies portrayed in movies (CIA, FBI, MI6, blah blah). "No witnesses" and "give guns to enemies of our enemy" fits them nicely.
mtsadowski Sep 30th 2010 1:49PM
Why is naixdra getting downrated? He just made a comment about how bad the Alliance is behaving.
It's pretty clear that Alliance are "not behaving." Are people shocked that the "good guys" are not acting good? Personally I think this is awesome story-telling.
Zhiva Sep 30th 2010 1:51PM
The "dicks" here are the slavers, who fled the sinking ship and left people caged on it.
Muse Sep 30th 2010 1:54PM
And if positions were reversed and that was the Horde firing on an unknown ship? Nobody would've even batted an eye.
Dreyja Sep 30th 2010 1:55PM
Which, if I remember things correctly, is actually a Twilight Cult plot. I could be wrong.
Sean Sep 30th 2010 2:03PM
I like when things I watch make sense. This cinematic doesn't. The Alliance attacking the Goblin ship with absolutely no provocation doesn't fit the overall sense of what the Alliance is supposed to be. It's just to push the Horde vs. Alliance rivalry, but it doesn't come from any logical standpoint. I'd give it a 5/10 only because the animations were well done considering the engine they're stuck with.
