Goblin cinematic: Escape from Kezan
Xfire user Zilas just uploaded what we believe to be the cinematic detailing the end of the goblin starting zone Kezan. Frankly, it's amazing. There are spoilers for the end of the first part of the goblin starting experience, so be warned.
Blizzard has, once again, topped itself in terms of cinematic quality and expression outside of its general pre-rendered cinematics. Hopefully the worgen transformation movie is just as awesome.

That's usually how large/long boats pitchpole (capsize backward). :p They go nose up over a wave, everything slides to the back, and if they don't snap in half from being too long, they sink that way. Not really a Titanic thing, but a bad boat design thing.

The escape pods also have a critical design flaw; they can't be opened from the inside.
SamLowry Sep 30th 2010 7:49PM
You missed the part about the people locked belowdecks. On the Titanic it was the third-class passengers, but here it was slaves, apparently.

That is so full of postapocolyptic win!

I don't get it... Thrall is on the horde ship that's getting pummeled, the goblin ship is sinking as well... How the hell are they going to rescue him? Just fish him out of the water? I thought the goblins would attack the alliance fleet...

How many people were waiting for the escape pods to explode? I mean, isn't Goblin Engineering about "MORE EXPLOSIONS!!"? It would have made a truly epic fireworks display.
Other than that, spot on for awesome. And I agree that EVERY race should get a little cinematic, just to be fair. It doesn't have to be OMGEPIX but some love for the older races would be nice. Oh, and while I'm wishing for things that won't happen, how about revamping the older races models, even Worgen players will complain as they use the old Human model when not being all Worgen-a-fied.

For the record, this isn't datamined. As displayed in the video, this is live on the Beta right now as far as I have heard.
The reason I mention this? I've heard there is a Worgen and a 4.0.3 cinematic in the Beta files right now that have NOT been datamined. Neither are, as far as I know, active.
Food for thought.

As childish as it is, it is amazingly great.

Not only was it kind of silly but I also found it remarkably and enjoyably dark. Granted I'm not in beta and have only seen some recaps and brief walkthroughs of Kezan and Lost Isles, the general tone of the Goblin zone is fairly open-ended and tongue-in-cheek, as opposed to Gilneas which plays out in a very linear fashion and with a more serious tone.
That cinematic was awfully dark, especially at the end (slaves begging for their lives as their ship explodes and sinks, I mean damn...), and made all the more so by the up to this point silly nature of the whole Goblin experience.
In conclusion, well done Blizzard story writers.

childish?

the best word is "goblin"
Time is money, friend

They need more cinematics like this and not those lazy "let's just do the entire thing in a special version of WoW with no related movements whatsoever!!!"
Matrone Sep 30th 2010 2:38PM
Tolkfan... they do ^^
anyways THAT WAS SO EPIC!!! I cannot help but smile when those two goblins look over the end of their boat..
"AaAAaAaAaAaAaAaAHhHhHhHhHh!!!!!!!!!!!"

I love love LOVE this, esp the voicework. We've had some entertainingly horrible voicework on WoW, and whilst I do love the good and the bad, this is very VERY good.
Zeromus Sep 30th 2010 2:50PM
I have played Alliance for years, and generally cannot stand anything Horde-related, but this looks AWESOME!!
Mortanius4 Sep 30th 2010 3:21PM
That was a horrible story cinematic... it's WAY to similar to Amistad, which is also a display of similarly atrocious acts... aren't games suppose to be fun?
SamLowry Sep 30th 2010 7:36PM
Amistad? Are you kidding?
Wrong flick, dude.
Eddy Sep 30th 2010 3:02PM
Oof, that is... intense. I have instantly way more respect for the Goblin player factions and way less for the Trade Prince.
Long live Her Tallness!
