Around Azeroth Beta Edition: The enemy that never comes
This bodes poorly for the future. Beta tester Mofo and his pals on the Horde went to Tol Barad (the new Wintergrasp) for some outdoor PvP action, but the enemy declined to show up. Mofo attributes this to a population imbalance on the beta servers. With so many people expressing love for the goblins, and so many complaints about the worgen models, will we be facing another blood elf-esque surge in the Horde population?

I for one can't WAIT to roll a worgen...
thegatherer Oct 1st 2010 10:03AM
I hope that happens, so there will be enough % of the horde that punting the runts no longer just refers to the gnomes.
Shadowwind Oct 1st 2010 10:20AM
Minor difference there. Punt a gnome and it goes flying, usually with an amusing yelp. Punt a goblin, and your leg blows up. And then the goblin sells you an expensive prosthetic leg.

in a way i kinda hope so, the allance have been dominating the horde in numbers on my realm for quite some time.

I hope not! I've been a Horde player since the original Warcraft game came out all those years ago, and I liked being the underdog. It just felt right for the Horde. I'm not sure of the majority of servers any more, but mine is Horde heavy and it loses some of that feeling.

I know for a fact that several Alliance guilds on my server have gone over to the Horde, as well as several well known PvPers. They left because they felt that the Horde Racials are better for PvP and PvE. Wintergrasp used to be even on our server, both sides having multiple raids, and the zone changing hands frequently, nobody having more than a stack or two of Tenacity. Now the Alliance rarely has less than 5 Tenacity, with the norm being 10 or more, and less than half a raid of Alliance. While it IS fun to briefly wtfpwn 10 or so Horde, it does get to the point where they can just pile on you until you die and then just camp your only rez spot.

I hope not and rather doubt it. I've seen plenty of anticipation for Worgen as well. Either way, I love each race so I'll be enjoying both.
And that's so awesome seeing a Troll druid in bear form, so cool!

My friend in the beta had the same problem on the Alliance side of Tol Barad. Perhaps people just need to coordinate better on the forums? It seems like when you get enough people on your side to play, the other side hasn't shown up.
I, for one, welcome our new Goblin overlords. Maybe I'll finally level a Horde toon to the cap...

I've been hoping that a lot of Blood Elves will reroll Worgen.
SamLowry Oct 2nd 2010 2:08AM
Me too. Might even things out a little on the Thrall server.
Pfft...who am I kidding. Even if half of the horde go worgen, the Alliance would still be outnumbered.
JaimeRavenholdt Oct 1st 2010 10:21AM
Wait, Worgen model complaints? Can someone fill me in? I really dislike their run animation, but I wasn't aware there were more complaints. Are we the majority?
VioletArrows Oct 1st 2010 2:59PM
Folks can't decide on the faces, and the female worgen can't catch a break at all.
arawn.chernobog Oct 1st 2010 10:23AM
Fact: Rolling Horde adds 5% skill to PVP
/obvious sarcasm

Scorpion Mounts > Lion Mounts

I like the lion mount. That mane is amazing. I do like the scorpion too though. ;P

I just don't get it. Goblins are interesting for their starter zones, maybe, but they're just like the gnomes in the sense that their size makes them ridiculous for most classes. I can't see why the worgen isn't more popular. There's an amazing transformation skill, they sound awesome/threatening, blah blah. The starter zone might be a little lacking, but I'm in it for the long haul. Can't wait.
Btw, blizzard, if u need someone to roll more alliance, you know where to look...
Natsumi Oct 1st 2010 11:32AM
Because they've had so many issues with the Worgen zone and models. Goblins have been up for most of the Beta and Worgen have been up about 50% of the time, too many model changes that people didn't like, and the complete lack of Female Worgen in character creation makes them a little difficult to get into.
Bigface Oct 1st 2010 12:04PM
Ah, I see. Well hopefully that isn't the case come cataclysm.
Algnosis Oct 1st 2010 10:43AM
Interesting, I didn't know that worgen were less favored, from chats with friends and talk on my server it seemed that the Alliance would be getting the boost from Hordies wanting to play a more vicious/bestial race...
razion Oct 1st 2010 10:45AM
I'm worried. With Goblins being done so far in advance, all of the hype seems to be going to them before the expansion is released. At this rate, even when Worgen are finished, the people who were initially excited about Worgen will have eventually lost all their steam, leaving Horde with yet another expansion with the Blood Elf Race Popularity Syndrome.
