We often utter a small sigh of nostalgia as an expansion leaves us. Don't get me wrong. I am very excited to see a new world and I can't wait to play Cataclysm. But I have fond memories of my years in Azeroth. I sometimes look back on the way things "used to be" and miss old, familiar faces.
I've covered Yesterday's News by Slashdance before, but as I sit here wondering what the future will be like, I am reminded of the sad story of the dwarf who makes the summoning stones. The summoning stone was once hailed as an innovation that saved immense time and trouble. Now? They're barely used. This is a fantastic story, and it all sums up how I feel looking forward to Cataclysm. The ability to capture that kind of complex emotion is part of the brilliance of Yesterday's News, and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at machinima@wow.com.
It's a really nice piece of work and I'm glad you (re?)posted it. I'd like to think that the dwarves pooled their savings and settled down somewhere nice but, hey, they're dwarves. They're probably off adventuring somewhere. :)
And a good point it makes too. Maybe just nostalgia, but somehow running laps around Dalaran waiting for my magical queue isn't as immersive as being actively summoned, usually by people I knew, or having to actually travel out to the dungeon.
I'm pretty sure that was featured, but damned if I can find the link. I know I've seen it before and it's not the type of thing I go looking for on my own.

One Dwarf doesn't deserve that much heartbreak in his life :(

I agree! life should not be so cruel to a poor little dwarf!

Always happy to see this again, it really is beautiful. I don't actually like much machinima, but this is a real joy.
It's beautiful visually, musically, and it communicates a touching and important message using almost no words.

It may not have all that fancy cutscene looking footage but it is still the best.
Or maybe you guys are just Forsaken racists!

And here I thought you were going to link to "Re: Your Brains."
