Call for Submissions: Breakfast Topics
Once again we're looking to you, dear readers, to help fill the WoW Insider Breakfast Topic cup with hot, fresh topics! What's on your mind (and what do you think is on other players' minds) when it comes to the World of Warcraft? Write it up as Breakfast Topic and submit your article for a chance to be published right here on WoW Insider.
We're looking for Breakfast Topics in our usual conversational style, asking the community for their thoughts on a WoW-related topic. Submissions should be between 200 and 300 words. (Watch that top end! Exceeding it could get your submission thrown out, no matter how good it is! Brevity is your friend.) We're looking for strong writing in combination with topics that will spark an interesting conversation. Only the best submissions will be accepted. Multiple submissions from one author is allowed.
WoW Insider does not accept articles submitted under player names or pen names; please use your full, real name and an actual email address. Please include your email address again at the bottom of your submission. Artwork is not mandatory, but any you choose to include must be your own work or via creative commons.
Currently the Seed program only accepts submissions from individuals living in the United States, and we are not accepting submissions outside of the Seed service. We hope to make international submissions available at some point in the future; watch Seed.com for updates.
To submit an article, read up about our guest post program, then sign up for Seed. WoW.com articles are not listed among Seed's open category listings; click here to view the assignment and submit your article. (You won't be able to see it unless you have a Seed account.) We'll accept Breakfast Topic submissions for this call-out until 12:00 a.m. EDT on Sat., Oct. 9. If you have additional questions about this assignment, drop us a line at seed@wow.com.
Have you ever wanted to write for WoW Insider? Your chance may be right around the corner. Watch for our next call for submissions, and be sure to sign up for Seed, the Aol guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider. The next byline you see here may be yours!

It's nothing new:

(Note a search was a better way of showing off these posts as they're not all tagged "Call for Submissions".)

Just out of curiosity. What about breakfast topics that were submitted during the last round of submissions? Will those be reviewed with this assignment or before?
Alex Ziebart Oct 2nd 2010 6:20PM
If you submission from the callout hasn't been accepted or rejected yet, it will be before we get to this round of submissions.

Sigh, let me try that one again.

Hooray typos.

Do an article of how World of Warcraft wrecked my life. (no I meant a friend of a friend of a friend that I heard about.)

Any idea when International writers will be able to submit guest posts? I'm extremely interested in doing so, but sadly its only open to Americans via Seed :(

When AOL successfully gets set up in those countries. Even though they're now re-running this ad every day or two trying to just get U.S submissions, they remain against finding a work-around.

What i do not like about this seed program it only applies to people in the US so if you live in Canada or Europe or you are in Aussie you cannot submit your idea :(

You should do a breakfast topic asking readers to suggest breakfast topics.
Wait...
*Brain implodes*

A Google search on the SEED program shows that it's A. An AOL program. B. In beta. and C. open only to people in the US age 18 and up because of the tax forms that have to be filled out before they can pay you for any work. So every time there's a Call for Submissions and people start complaining about it only being for people in the US, asking if WoWInsider knows when that will change, or (my favorite) blaming WoWInsider for not finding some way around it, when for all we know AOL just won't allow them to do that, here's what you're doing...
Fred runs a fruit stand owned by Bob. Bob makes decisions on how the fruit stand will be run and tells Fred to do it. There are some things Bob leaves up to Fred to decide, but when Bob says something "is going to work like this", Fred has to do it that way. Bob tells Fred to only sell fruit to people who have a left arm, but no right arm.
Once a week, you go to the fruit stand and tell Fred how unhappy you are about this. Fred's told you he understands, but that it's Bob's rules. You still go back every week and tell Fred you should be able to buy fruit there because you do have a left arm... the fact that you also have a right arm doesn't change that. People standing around start saying things like, "Hey! Fred already said Bob makes the rules. If you don't like it, write a letter to Bob." You then blame Fred for not going around Bob's rules. While letting Fred know how you feel about this was a good idea, the problem is that now Fred knows, Fred has told you why he can't do anything about it, and also told you who makes the rules. Complaining to Fred is, at this point, just being an asshole.
WRITE A LETTER TO BOB! STOP BUGGING FRED!

They already made a similar attempt to avoid complaints, by telling us to put feedback on the Seed site. Ignoring (or hoping we wouldn't notice) the fact there's no feedback option there.

"No feedback option"? If you go to seed.com, then click "About" (right hand side of the site, up around the top, kind of hard to miss), there's a page with a brief description of the program that also gives an email address to contact them and a link to the FAQ. And if you hit that link, you don't even really have to go through the FAQ... the short introduction on that page says, "If you still have questions, we invite you to ask us." Hover your mouse over the words "ask us", and you get that same email address. It took me about 20 seconds to find it. It's not something that requires an account to be logged in to find... just a willingness to click twice and read a few paragraphs. You don't even really have to read... just let your eyes scan them for the email link.

Damnit...I always forget that 12:00AM starts a new day as opposed to ending it, so this deadline has actually already passed. Time fail for me.
Oh well...next time...
