Cataclysm rewards low-level faction loyalty with cloaks, bags

- a high-resolution city tabard that requires friendly standing with that city;
- a reasonably-priced 16-slot bag (unique) requiring revered standing to purchase; and
- level 35 blue cloaks (also in gorgeous high resolution) in caster, agility and strength varieties, requiring exalted standing.
The tabard can be picked up at any time, since almost every race starts at friendly standing with its faction's cities. The bag, on the other hand, shows up at a point in the leveling process when a new player (or fresh reroll on a new server/faction) is going to start wishing he had another big bag like the backpack. And the cloaks are available at level 35 -- a level at which, on my worgen fire mage, I had just hit exalted with Darnassus and was very close to hitting exalted with Stormwind. So on top of a cloak tailored to my spec, I also had two 16-slot bags available -- which for a new player is like winning the lottery. This is a great way to educate new players on how WoW's reputation system works, and it provides some neat rewards to boot.

Thats cool.
I'm assuming that the bag is unique?
MusedMoose Oct 2nd 2010 4:08PM
Yep! Says so right in the article. ^_^
Michael Sacco Oct 2nd 2010 4:09PM
It does say so in the article, but only just now, because of Jack's question :)
Artificial Oct 2nd 2010 4:36PM
Wow, you guys actually read these comments? My sympathies... XD
Is that your real portrait, BTW? Now I see why your hair is legendary. :) Totally awesome... reminds me of Chase from House...
Artificial Oct 2nd 2010 4:37PM
Wait, that IS Chase from House. XD Nevermind...
MusedMoose Oct 2nd 2010 4:55PM
Oi! Fast work, Mr. Sacco; my apologies, Mr. Miles.
kooda Oct 2nd 2010 5:02PM
Oh i'm disappointed now I thought that was actually Sacco :|
Jamie Oct 2nd 2010 5:07PM
Some say if you squint it actually reveals Sacco's true form others says it just looks like a blurry picture of Chase from House.

Ooh goody! I was looking forward to rolling new toons on other servers come cataclysm (my main of Earthen Ring has all 10 slots filled) and that easy bag will be a great incentive! Also nice for tabard collectors!
MusedMoose Oct 2nd 2010 4:07PM
Awesome. These will be great for those who choose to build rep early with another home-city faction - my future night elf engineering mage will rock the Gnomeregan colors as soon as possible. ^_^

"This is a great way to educate new players on how WoW's reputation system works, and it provides some neat rewards to boot."
I agree, and it gives players something to look forward to like we used to have with mounts at a higher level and class quests.
Well played Blizzard, well played.

Very well played! This is a great little touch that is one of many reasons why WoW is better than any other MMO on the market. Don't make the game punishing at low levels. Giving rewards like this for leveling early on AND making it a valuable teaching tool is genius.
MusedMoose Oct 2nd 2010 5:02PM
I hadn't thought about it that way; I was just excited about getting new faction-related stuff. ^_^ But excellent point. This really is a great move on Blizzard's part.
DjLionheart Oct 2nd 2010 4:21PM
Are those those same tabrads that you get from the argent dailies? Cause if they are....
Ice Oct 2nd 2010 5:05PM
At the moment they seem to be looking same.
shade780 Oct 2nd 2010 7:13PM
Ahh, so I probably shouldn't spend my chapmion's seals on an exodar tabard I was going to get??
Amaxe Oct 2nd 2010 4:21PM
So is this tabard one which gives rep bonuses or just to look nice? I heard rumors but am not sure if I am mixing up my stories.
Starraven Oct 2nd 2010 5:35PM
They are the ones that just look nice. I got the IF and Gnome ones last night on my night elf hunter on the beta. I have not seen the rep one as of yet.
Ice Oct 2nd 2010 4:22PM
That is awesome change for starting, questing people and RP people.
I always felt that while leveling theres no need for rep other than discounts or "ambassador". It was just pointless. Now theres actually purpose, which is nice to reward you and have short term goals while leveling too.
Question is: Is is possible to get exalted so fast you would use the cloaks at 35? I know many of us hit exalted at Tournament or ton of runecloth.. I know, ton of new quests but the amount might still feel same. And you have to remember theres other factions while leveling too: I found out nice amount of argent dawn and cenarion circle rep at LOW levels which replace possible "darnassus" rep etc.
