Cataclysm rewards low-level faction loyalty with cloaks, bags

- a high-resolution city tabard that requires friendly standing with that city;
- a reasonably-priced 16-slot bag (unique) requiring revered standing to purchase; and
- level 35 blue cloaks (also in gorgeous high resolution) in caster, agility and strength varieties, requiring exalted standing.
The tabard can be picked up at any time, since almost every race starts at friendly standing with its faction's cities. The bag, on the other hand, shows up at a point in the leveling process when a new player (or fresh reroll on a new server/faction) is going to start wishing he had another big bag like the backpack. And the cloaks are available at level 35 -- a level at which, on my worgen fire mage, I had just hit exalted with Darnassus and was very close to hitting exalted with Stormwind. So on top of a cloak tailored to my spec, I also had two 16-slot bags available -- which for a new player is like winning the lottery. This is a great way to educate new players on how WoW's reputation system works, and it provides some neat rewards to boot.

I have the same question. I got them all already, but now I wonder if there is a damn difference.
Bueas Oct 3rd 2010 3:14AM
Eh. Nothing that important or special. It would only be useful to people who are entirely new to WoW and I don't see too many of those around. It'll take way too high of a level to get to revered standing for the bags to be purchased. If anybody was smart, they'd just buy some netherweave bags and just mail it to their toons the second they find a mail box. I know I"m not gonna wait 20 levels so I can save 6 g on 16-slot bag.
Matt Oct 2nd 2010 5:17PM
That's not entirely true. My level 34 shaman, who I haven't touched since TBC, is well into revered with Exodar and Stormwind, as well as a few hundred in with Darnassus and about 1,000 from Revered with Ironforge. I am also honored with the Gnomes. As long as you quest, you will get reputation easily.
It's true that someone with a well-established 85 would just buy bags, but the whole theme of this article was the benefits such a system provides new players.

Does anyone have a link to follow to be able to see the stats that the cloak will provide?
Kunzler Oct 2nd 2010 6:08PM
Well, I can provide you some links, just logged and took some screenshots.
The stats are the same on all factions, only the graphics and the name (of faction) change.

And the tabard of Orgrimmar equipped.

So the Orgrimmar tabard, at least, looks to be the same as the one that's already in-game:

Are the blue cloaks better than what you'd get from dungeon goodiebags?
Grinton Oct 2nd 2010 5:25PM
The change room window looks a bit different, did they add a zoom feature, or does it now show a close up of the item your trying on? I assume those are common requests from people, so I guess it would be nice for them to be finally implemented.
Michael Sacco Oct 2nd 2010 5:54PM
You can now zoom in the Dressing Room window!
Kunzler Oct 2nd 2010 6:13PM
Scrolling the mouse whell up and down zooms in and out in beta.
Noyou Oct 3rd 2010 1:57AM
Wait. Who's dressing room? :p
Rioriel-TheShatarEU Oct 2nd 2010 5:37PM
YES! More tabards. Praise be!
46 and counting.
Herman Oct 2nd 2010 5:45PM
i got exalted with if, darn and SW and almost there with gnomer and exodar, only level 37
nevwyn Oct 2nd 2010 5:47PM
Wait a minute, I thought those faction cloaks were going to be mantles a purely graphic item so that we could show city pride and still have our guild tabards. Did they scrap the mantles idea?
Balgus Oct 2nd 2010 5:51PM
well if they add more items this might just be a way to attempt to make Gilneas rep actually worth getting. that is IF the cities actually get different items from one another.
Kunzler Oct 2nd 2010 6:51PM
Well, currently the stats are identical and I don't see a reason for them not to be. Why would the Orgrimmar cloak be stronger than the TB cloak for instance?
