Breakfast Topic: Let's talk about fun ways to die

Yes, when we hear the graveyard music, we often indulge in various expressions of nerd rage. However, there is no denying that there are some cool, funny and emblematic ways to die, both throughout the leveling process and in the endgame. Who has not gotten stomped by the Fel Reaver in Hellfire Peninsula? Were you ever pwned by Hogger? And what about all those times when your famous last words were, "I'm a _____
My characters have met their deaths in the elevator of the Undercity, been shot out of the sky near Alliance camps in Outland and steamrolled under various groups of mobs in Stranglethorn Vale. One of my favorite deaths occurred when my husband and I rolled Forsaken toons together. I rolled a warrior, he rolled a rogue, and we had fun roflpwning low-level mobs in our BoA gear. We found our way to Silverpine Forest, and I noticed that one of the nearby worgen had a different skin color than the others. Of course, being the compulsive silver-elite-killer that I am, I immediately targeted the mob, only to discover that it was a gold elite -- a level 20 Son of Arugal. I shouted and we ran, avoiding the mob the first time, only to have it pat up behind us and kill me a few minutes later. Darling hubby got away (stupid rogues -- always run when there's a fight).
One of my more shameful deaths occurred after playing chicken with the ground on my level 80 druid. The most exciting part of this game is wondering if there is enough lag at the moment that you click the flight form button that you'll end up dying anyway. I was flying over Dalaran and told my hubby, "Hey, watch this!" As he stood at the bank, I proceeded to fall through the air
Sure, we all die in raid wipes and in PvP -- but what about the neat ways to die in the game? What has been your favorite or most hilarious death in the World?

YES! Mr. Reaver is on top of my list of "you die every time i see you because you squashed me one too many times when i was 68."

Many is the time I have watched Fel Reavers jogging across Hellfire Peninsula. Truly astounding. Eventually, they reach "where they were supposed to be" and slow to their normal pace, but until then, it is quite amazing.

Yeah I still remember the time way back in BC when I was leveling my old 60 main my shaman through HFP to be my second 70. Maybe a hour or two into the zone I'm starting to feel comfortable playing a shaman again, I hear a reaver coming and smugly walked out of his way with plenty of time. I start in on another couple shattered hand orcs for my quest, and out of nowhere the fel reaver runs up and wtfpwns me.
I had left my strength of earth totem in his way. =/

I have a couple favorites, mostly (ok all) self-inflicted - at least somewhat.
At 80, on my main (NE druid), I've been running lowbie dungeons for cloth and funds. My favorite is Stockade because one starfall cast while I run down the center pretty much drops everything behind and in front of me.. and I go back and clean out the rooms if there's anyone left in em as I loot my way back to where I started. One time, I was in the last room big room (the circular one with the final boss) and I wasn't really paying attention - or thinking about - my mana. I'd done this SO many times it was a no-brainer. I ran in all the rooms, got each mob to follow me, used starfall to kill/pull the rest.. not sure how many there are exactly.. but by the time I had the whole room in the middle, I realized when I attempted to hurricane them all to death I was out of mana. I hit innervate, which helped (a little) till I got stunned. I thought I had a chance with another hurricane, but I wasn't watching my health either. LMAO I managed to get killed.. in Stocks.. at 80. I laughed my ass off. It was my own fault. As a side note, I do this stupid thing of getting myself killed by pulling too much even when questing. Its funny when its only me dying. :)
My other favorite is the planned suicide of one of my toons. I don't roleplay, it had nothing to do with a storyline or anything. I just couldn't get my human warlock past level 31. I tried, I couldn't make myself play her and when I did, I got frustrated dying a lot and just not 'getting' the whole Lock thing. She had a little bit of gold, some leather and cloths, I put it all in the guild bank or sent things to my other alts that could make use of certain items.. sold everything else. Stripped off all her armor, and sold it. Put that money in the guild bank. Then I hopped on my horse and rode off to SW Harbor to catch the boat to borean tundra. What better way to (near instantly) kill a level 30 - walk it up to a level 70. :) So there was my naked human warlock, trotting off the boat at borean tundra - right into one of those HUGE spider lookin things. She lasted a second once it saw her. As soon as she died, I left her at the spirit thing (as a ghost), and logged off to delete her. My best friend laughed when I told her that "Kaiylyn" committed suicide.. then when I told her what I meant and what I did.. she called me crazy. Its true, I am. :)

You remind me of what I did to my first Death Knight. He was created simply to see the DK area, and to be a "bank alt". Except I didnt use him. Eventually, I decided I actually wanted a DK. Except this abandoned DK was screwed up totally for that goal. So I did the standard empty of armor, bags, gold, whatnot, onto my other characters... And ran him out to the Stormwind Moat (out the front). Jumped in, and found a nice corner in one of the "outlets". I even /yelled something like "Help! My player is trying to drown me!".... He drowned. I left him drowned for a short bit, then deleted and got my new DK out of the bucket....

Waaay back in the day when 60 was max level, my level 10 warlock bank alt stole Hogger's soul. It was a hard-fought battle with a touch of flair because she wore only a Lovely Black Dress. I still have the soul shard. I'm going to miss it, come Cataclysm.

Fighting Ormorok in Heroic Nexus about 1-month after LK dropped. My mage was wielding the then FoTM spec of frostfire. Well I don't remember the exact order of thing but I was going through my normal rotation and he pops spell reflect as one of my frostfire bolts was inbound. Well it critted and triggered not only all of the normal modifiers (burnout, ignite etc...) it also procced a Pyroblast which I immediately released (about .5 sec before I realized my last FFB was boomeranging on me) The Pryoblast also critted, and triggered ignite and something else. End result I went from full health to dead in 1.5 GCD

Best death: A fresh priest out of Northshire abbey happily hunting wolves and oblivious of the fact that a l80 hordie was roaming about, I mis-targeted a wolf with the horde dude ...
Ouch. Though he danced with me after I rezzed, so :)
Worst death: While hunting hellboars in Hellfire Peninsula, I mis-targeted a boar and happened to click on a reaver instead, tried to outrun it but ...
Splat.
Morale of my gaming experience: NEVER EVER play without your glasses on.

One of my most memorable deaths actually occurred this past week, when in ICC 10 man, we were at Sindragosa and ran back through the gate to reset her. Except she didn't reset, she glitched and actually came through into the gauntlet area. This was followed by hysterical shouts of "HOLY SH_T RUN TO THE ELEVATOR!" but she ripped us to shreds in our panic and confusion. Which begs the question, maybe she can be kited throughout IC Citadel? :-p

My recent favorite is similar, except she attacked us while we were pulling the last trash dragon (Rimefang, I think). We ran for it, my GM screaming high-pitched bloody-murder over Vent all the way. I died, but I laughed my butt off and the guild has never let him live it down.

When me and my friends first started levelling our horde chars in silverpine forest, we started dueling as a break from grinding. As my friend (a rogue) neared death, I cast psychic scream, sending him hurtling into the forest. Just as he lost, a huge elite randomly ran up to him and killed him instantly. It was quite lulzy

A while back, whilst on my Forsaken lock, i was doing the quests in Hellfire Penn where you have to destroy the fel cannons. I was being a bit sneaky and running around the top of the raised area, killing off the mobs in my way rather than steamrollering through the middle. Some helpful person had been there before me and most of the mobs near the fel cannon i was after were dead. i proceeded to kill the cannon, just as 4 mobs spawned all at once and immediately made for me. Being an affliction lock, i immediately threw dots, popped sacrifice and set my voidy on them, but forgot i was on the edge of the cliff top and fell down the side. By this time i had about 20% health and my voidy had pulled more mobs and was now dead. I made a run for it, hoping the mobs would get bored and go away.
Unfortunately i ran right into a small pack of felboars. Somehow i managed to survive their attack with only about 1% health left and no mana.
I sat down, breathed a sigh of relief that i'd gotten away with it, and started to eat and drink. unfortunately i forgot to look behind me...
...and got stomped by the £"$%^&%£" fel reaver.

*pats you sympathetically*
Of all the things in Outland, that !@#$!@$#$ Fel Reaver is simultaneously the most brilliant thing and the most sadistically twisted thing the devs have ever come up with. Anything that inspires THAT much fear just from the sound of its roar that you KNOW is right behind your little lowbie toon...
...and inspires THAT much desire for vengeance once you hit 80 and go back and stomp that thing into tiny rusted bits over and over and over for payback.

There's a quest in the hinterlands, where you need to go to some island near the shore and you get ambused there...well i didn't read on the quest and died. And since it's really far from spirit healer and it takes a long time to get there, I just clicked on horizon and went away for a bit... and that's how I found out that you can die while dead if you come in fatigue area.
matt Oct 4th 2010 10:23AM
my favorite was when I zoned out of H-Nexus on my lock. tabbed away to firefox for a second, when I came back I was dead, in the middle of DAL, WTF?! Check the combat log and lo and behold I died to Keiristraza (SP?).
Turns out, the cold debuff stays on you when you zone if you do not move after the fight.
BigBadGooz Oct 4th 2010 10:26AM
Doing oprah event in Kara somone activates it we stand outside so it can reset. It's the big bad wolf. We hear run away little girl a wolf claw reaches through the door and 1 shots our Mage.
matt Oct 4th 2010 10:56AM
