It's morning. You wake up in a groggy haze, your mouth tasting like coal and cheap beer. Staggering outside your hut, you rub your eyes in disbelief as you notice something missing. Something large, furry, covered in pieces of barrel and horned. Wait --
Dude, where's my ram?
Another Brewfest has come and gone. Sadly, we'll all have to wait another year for endless rivers of cheap beer, luscious beer meats and hilarious hallucinations. Holidays are always a great chance to mix up your usual routine, so we ask: Were you lucky enough to pull a mount from the cold, dead clutches of Coren Direbrew? Did you get your Brewmaster title? Did you even care?

I deleted two (maybe three) kodos on my main. I had the kodo since last year (which btw is the only ground mount I have used since last year). It would have at least been nice to be account bound, but it is what it is.

I really don't get all this whining about a *holiday* boss. Brewfest, like the other holiday events, are just meant to offer a change of pace for a short while. Nor were any of these designed for ICC geared toons. It's a great change of pace and it's a fun way to pick up some goodies, especially if you have a freshly dinged 80.
Besides, it's not like the other holiday bosses were exactly "hard". Even the upcoming Hallow's End boss was easy as of last year.
Nah, the only thing that disappointed me was that they couldn't even bother with a 2010 stein.

people like to whine to make themselves feel like they have a say in things, and that some one is listening, when its actually true! we do listen...then point at how they whine to make themselves feel like they have a say in things.

If I remember, didn't last year require you to get the pieces of clothing, and get drunk and dance in Dalaran? I am thankful that's not part of the achievement this time around. The tokens don't expire now either (was stupid that they did the last time). It was a lot easier this year getting the brewfest achieve than last year
The only thing I'm disappointed in, is not getting a new stein, even the FoS you get this year is from '09.
Well, that, and getting the kodo and ram on my rogue, when my pally needs one more mount to get to 100 :(

"I really don't get all this whining about a *holiday* boss. Brewfest, like the other holiday events, are just meant to offer a change of pace for a short while."
How not? The boss lasted for 5 freaking seconds on average. Thats not change to pace, you are basically logging in and feeded frost emblems just by doing so. Thats not FUN. Easy bosses can be fun too you know. Just because the boss or encounter would be epicly huge or challenging it doesnt mean it cant be fun in RPG games.
Its not fun logging in, pressing button for five SECONDS and receiving stuff I'm suppos to feel accomplished by. The hardest part of the boss was to .. err..wait for queue to pop.
Heck I think wario ware games last as long and they were more fun and engaging than pressing your hardest nuke/threat ability (healers basically stood there casting one heal in fights) and win.
"Really! I thought it was awesome, 6 frosts a day, 2 tankards, 2 kodos, a shankers and ALL of the easy drops. I loved it!"
Man if Totalbiscuit would see this.. *shudder*

The holiday boss isn't the only aspect of the holiday event. As such, the holiday can be an actual change of pace.
"Easy bosses can be fun too you know."
Sure they can. But if the complaints are about the mechanics, then there should have been complaining last year, as well. But there wasn't, because people weren't decked out in T10 gear.
So, yeah, the holiday boss won't be so challenging for those who overgear the content. Nor do I think it should be.

Both mounts! Woah!
I love the whole bag thing, it never even dropped back when it dropped from Coren...
Also, one run a day with the dungeon finder was simply less hassle^^
Metalupis Oct 5th 2010 8:03AM
Had 2 kodos drop on my main 1 on my alt but still no rams :(

I'm not sure I'm a fan of the new loot system for seasonal bosses. Sure I get they want the mounts to be an actual accomplishment, but I know many many people who were not fortunate enough to get one this year. It's sad to think that they'll have to wait a whole YEAR for minimal chance of getting one. It's very well possible people wouldn't get one 2 years running. I think that's a bit lame on Blizzard's part.
Klerud Oct 5th 2010 8:27AM
This. I did Coren every single day throughout Brewfest, across 5 80s. I got the Ram on one of them. Two whole weeks of doing the boss five times a day and I get _one_ mount _once_ on _one_ character. At least increase the drop-rate, please!
Neyssa Oct 5th 2010 8:48AM
I would be happy if they would just make the holiday stuff (mount, ahune weapon, etc) BoA.
Jarett Oct 5th 2010 8:52AM
But this method does allow everyone to be on equal footing. The previous method catered to those with time and/or money that could farm the attempts of everyone and their brother. Now your attempt is your attempt and you don't have to share it with 4 others.
andrepertoire Oct 5th 2010 9:09AM
I don't see why it's a big deal. It's nice to have actually 'rare' items in WoW. Makes you a little bit different from everyone else.
What fun is WoW if everyone has the same exact gear and mounts?
Everything is already pretty faceroll to get as is i.e. the millions of shadowmournes on my server.
Klerud Oct 5th 2010 9:15AM
@ Jarret.
While I see your point, not everyone _should_ be on equal footing. Run with me here: if you are dedicated to get the mount, you farm it for as long as it takes. If that takes hour on end, mountains of gold or whatever the price, those dedicated enough will eventually get their hands on the mount. It's not like they haven't worked for it.
As for those who would like to get the mount, but don't have the time/gold, that's too bad. You can still get lucky, but you're not guaranteed it. That's life.
As it stands now, yes, everyone is on equal footing. However, the current system strips those with time and will from getting their mitts on something you can only get for a short period of time each year.
@ Neyssa
Absolutely. They could even make the Reins unusable by non-80s as to keep them away from lowbie alts who shouldn't be able to get it for all I care. I want it on my main, not my banker!
A1CYancy Oct 5th 2010 11:38AM
I wouldn't mind the new loot system if it had some sort of diminishing returns on crap luck. Usually how I used to do the holiday bosses is to run with 4 friends. When something like a mount would drop, we would all roll and who ever won would continue to go with the same group until the event was over or we all had what we wanted. At the very least, a friend had what we wanted, not some blow hole bragging about getting it on his 9th toon.
I would LOVE to see Blizzard find someone to put a cap on bad luck.
Seriously.. Every keg I opened, badges. Third year in a row I might add.
Everything else seems to have diminishing returns now, why not bad luck?
angelus1121 Oct 5th 2010 7:51PM
Personally I wish that at least if you already had the mount you either wouldn't get it again or could at least trade it to one of your party members. I got the kodo 3 times on my main and I died a little each time I had to delete it.
aaronthecow Oct 5th 2010 8:07AM
I had both the ram and the Kodo drop in the first 3 barrels i got, but that was on my hunter, not my druid! haha, atleast i have tonnes of frosties saved up :D
rylor Oct 5th 2010 8:07AM
Luckily i got the ram back at the very 1st brewfest, alas the kodo has eluded me ever since :(
manda Oct 5th 2010 8:07AM
Had 2 kodos and 2 rams drop on my alt, but nothing on my main. :(

I had my alt-alt-alt get a Ram, when it dropped I had a moment of ecstatic euphoria then I realized I was on the toon has a 3500 GS and I mostly use for farming mats for my other toons professions.
