An easy solution is to just not fill up the guild with your alts. I mean, how many guilds that are over 600 could get under the cap by simply kicking all the alts or inactive members? Most of them I imagine. Not to mention, even with alts, 600 is a really really generous cap, considering the average person is not going to have all 10 character slots filled up. Yes, there a couple super huge guilds that actually have that many players, but they should take solace and at least be happy that it's not auto-kicking them and that their guild will get to stay together. I mean, yeah, they're guild won't be able to grow, but if you're hitting that cap, growth isn't exactly something you need to be worried about.
