How do you improve on awesome? That's a tough question, but the clever folks at
Razer seem to have come up with an answer: Add some molten lava or a raging maelstrom. The gaming peripherals manufacturer announced today the
Razer Naga Molten and Razer Naga Maelstrom special edition mice. Both mice sport the same specs as the
original 17-button Razer Naga plus the addition of new, pulsating designs -- a swirling, cool blue maelstrom or glowing hot lava. If the themes seem familiar, it's probably no coincidence that these mice arrive just in time for
Cataclysm, which is
set to launch on Dec. 7.
The Razer Naga is designed specifically for MMO gaming, with
a special addon for
World of Warcraft, allowing players to bind their spells and abilities to the mouse's numerous buttons. The mouse also
supports key mapping, the way most full-featured gaming mice can be configured, and
also comes with drivers for the Mac. The new designs take the place of the current pulsating Razer logo on the palm end of the mouse, adding a different level of cool to the popular mouse. Either version of the special edition Razer Naga gaming mouse will retail for $79.99 -- about the same price as the regular version -- and will become available for pre-order on Oct. 12.

Ouch! $80 for a mouse?
I mean, they DO look cool, and all ... but, still!

just the maelstrom looks cool, the molten edition one is just hot

Gaming mice go down in price all the time.
When the Microsoft Habu came out, it was $80. It's now $35. It's guts are by Razer. The mouse design on the outside is by Microsoft.

Yeah, it's $80 for a mouse, but it's really changed the way I play. Best hardware I've ever got for WoW.
Ethan Oct 5th 2010 8:22PM
This is the same price as the regular one.

I can only hope they function a little better than their keyboards. I was pleased to receive the Lycosa as a present with its cool blue illuminated keys until I found the lights turn off occasionally and the keys also stop functioning or keep repeating forever.
This has killed me on raids and caused a few wipes. I believe I have an older kb with lots or reported bugs, so it may not apply to the latest. Tech support for my problem however was non existent. Junked it and back to a simple old kb that at least works all the time.

Remember that Christmas isn't that far off.
In fact, I just sent the link to the Molten page at Razer's site to my dad. Fingers crossed!

I'll stick to my Roccat Kone and Lycosa. Not seeing the issues with the Lycosa like everyone else if you want a macroable keyboard you should get a g15 :/

The price for this is high, but I find it perfect for both DPS and Tanking. The learning curve was not as high as I tought i would be. I just modified Bartender to mimic the 1-12 button setup and made some macros. I first got my G15 keybord one birthday, and then I got this at the birthday after that (kisses to my wife!!).
One thing is that if you have large hands it can feel to small.

Damn me for getting the original one! The molten one (especially if the 'cracks' act same way as the razer logo in the original one, dimming and lighting again etc) is just too smexy. The price tag is still much, but if I hadn't bought the original one, I would SO buy the molten one...
Erik Oct 5th 2010 7:09PM
OH COME ON!
I just got the original a month ago!
Stupid Razer!
Erik Oct 5th 2010 7:12PM
Plus the red one would match my Keyboard!
Starraven Oct 5th 2010 7:18PM
I feel the same way, I just got mine a couple months ago and now I really want the red one! Why do they always come out with the cool ones after I buy them? WHY?
Darkseid Oct 5th 2010 9:05PM
A month?
A couple months??
Try I just got mine like a week and a half ago! Now I really want the red one. Convincing my wife I needed a $80 mouse was hard enough, how the heck do I pull that off twice!?!
To the people who are questioning the price, reviews don't lie. Check them out. Everyone who tries it, loves it. And it truely does chance the way your able to play.
But back to my point...A WEEK AND HALF AGO!!! /cry

I am in that boat. I love my NAGA. I've not even begun to plumb the depths of what WE can accomplish. I'm bummed I got it before the Maelstrom... I'm not going to lie! I'd love that mouse!
LoboBiZARro Oct 6th 2010 7:09AM
I should be my Naga TODAY. I could return it, I guess. But dammit!
DarkFinch Oct 5th 2010 7:11PM
Make a left-handed one.. Then I'll get excited.
moridar Oct 5th 2010 7:21PM
